What solidified my reason for being a huge Lifeson/Rush fan, you ask? Being a little kid listening to my brothers All the Worlds a Stage album and getting sucked into Bytor and the Snow Dog. I was blown away. And to this day I still listen to that song as blown away as I was as a little kid. But now I think a little more while listening to it, so I keep having to rewind it to hear the stuff I miss because I was thinking about the stuff right before it. Lifesons greatest performance.

Been a Rush fan since 1974... yes, I'm that old. They have always been my favorite band.. so thankful I was able to see them live 4 times from the mid/late 70's/early 80's.. they were/are 3 extraordinary musicians. RIP Neil "The Professor" Peart. You will live on forever in the music of Rush. What a great interview this was. Actually got me in my feels more than once. #RushArmy alive and well.

I agree Gary. I actually met Alex, Neil and Geddy in 1987 (during the Hold Your Fire Tour) at the hotel they were staying at where I was working as Room Service Waiter. All were great and Alex was so gracious. A VERY fond memory!!!

@@garywaddell6309 Yeah! The thing which touched me the most was the day before the concert I was working, and I spoke with Neil P. The day AFTER the concert (which I attended) I was again in front of Neil P. and briefly discussed what appeared to me was when he tossed a drumstick in the air, he missed catching it... and I stated "when you toss those sticks in the air, you never know where those darned things are going to land" of which he replied "he still is a nervous on opening night" (or something to that effect) and I laughed. No distractions, no others around.. just me and Mr. Peart and an honor that this 58 year old will have forever... I met Alex and Geddy under the same circumstances however, only the day before.

This to me was such an unexpected musical step for Alex to take... but that is exactly what makes him Alex Lifeson. I do hope someday he and Geddy can once again craft a few songs amidst the craft beers. :)

Everyone says similiar - but Alex is one of those kinda' guys I'd drop everything for a moment to sit and have a beer with. Been a lifelong Rush fan, fellow Canadian...and an admirer of not only his accomplishments and virtuoso guitar talents - but his Canadian work ethic and the fact he's always been a champion of Canada and thoroughly embraces our great country. It's awesome to see him moving forward from Rush (bittersweet for me since I've always loved Rush)...but it's great to see his rekindled enthusiasm for a new project. I wish Envy of None great success and all the best in the future.

Met Alex at the Orbit Room several years ago after he played a set. He was using a lot of comp chords mixed with single note arpeggios and possibly modes/scales. But not pentatonic or blues. I complimented him by saying I had no idea of his skill set cause Rush was /is a lot of barred power major/minor, diminished, and triads, etc, that make-up the ensemble sound. He replied that he too was surprised by his music direction he was taking and gave credit to his Son, who was introducing Alex to different artists. You never stop being a student of a musical instrument like guitar cause there is so much to explore...Alex is a true Artisan of his craft, and I spent countless moments learning his music as a young teen for hours at a time and never got tired or bored. I always came away thinking I'm really enjoying my time doing this and still do, and that is the ultimate goal.👍🎸🎼🎵🎶

Been a RUSH fan for 42 years. All started with 'Spirit of the Radio' which I heard on the radio but had no idea who the band was. Then borrowed 2 albums in 1990, one which was Signals and then started collecting everything they made. I like RUSH because of the layers of technical audio and ambience. Amazing to think, just three people. Their love for music shines through and that what I captured whenever I would listen to them. Passion.

I was 15 in ‘77 or ‘78 and my friend was college friends with the stage manager of Rush. My friend broke his leg and couldn’t go to the show in Jacksonville Florida at the Civic Auditorium. He gave me an ounce of killer bud and told me to bring it to Mike Hirsch, the tour manager backstage. Long story short, I rolled strawberry rolling papers and smoked in a dressing room with Leifson and Peart. I had many rock and roll encounters in my youth, this was a highlight.

I watch videos like this and enjoy them. I have played in bands for years, now I cant stomach playing clubs or cover songs in working situations. The reason I say this is because I've been writing my own music now, but im still so susceptible to negative emotions and inspiration in music because of the world events and politics,...which messes with my WANT to play music and be creative...I think videos like this help me when he says things about connections and excitement in something new...I need this to inspire me to play again. Inspiration is tough and new direction s for everyone are important.
