Alex Pereira revealed that a potential UFC light heavyweight title rematch with Jiri Prochazka could be next for him in the UFC. Speaking with the media in Rio he added that he does not want to wait around for a number one contender fight between Jiri Prochazka and Magomed Ankalaev, adding he wants to be active after his toe injury heals.

To the people who say Alex is ducking... Ankalaev was offered ufc 300 but declined, then Alex made it clear he wanted to fight soon... What does Ankalev do? He says he wants to fight at the END of the year in Abu dabi. Of course Alex is going to fight Jiri, because Jiris a warrior and will fight next week if its for a title shot, unlike Ankalaev.

@@user-ph2cl7fi8l bro that is just not true. First of all Ankalaev is in a 11 win streak (he won vs Jan, even Jan said it). Ankalaev is the real deal. But he is not popular and the UFC would said whatever they want to hold him back, just as they said Islam was injured when he was not. Ankalaevs problem is that he does not expose himself to the media and stand and defend his position, because he is the clearest next title fight contender. The ufc does not want another dagestani as champ and does not want Pereiras hype to derailed.

@@ernestolaclau1861 He did NOT win against Jan, and he is NOT on an 11 fight win streak, lets not be delusional here, and if you want to go by what Jan says, Jan later said that he won that fight. All your arguments are just pure assumptions. The facts are, Ankalev was offered to fight Alex at ufc 300, but he declined. Then after Alex ko'd Jamahal, he said he wanted a fast turnaround... a day later Ankalaev comes out and says he wants to fight Alex at the end of the year. The only thing holding Ankalaev back from a title shot is Ankalaev himself.

Jan said it after he said he lost, because probably his manager told him but he knew at that moment he lost. Ankalaev still has not lost lil bro since his ufc debut.

If he does do this its only fair he rematches Hill. There is so much unanswered questions to that fight. Take the ref interference and reset out of that and Im sure hill wins by KO

It wasn’t an early stoppage though, the ref made the right call. Jiri took over 10 elbows that were unanswered and when Jiri fell backwards people assumed that was Alex was going finish him by ground an pound, the likelihood that Jiri would recovered and actually be able to fight back, is the same likelihood when Alex fought Israel the first time in the ufc. ON THE VERGE OF GETTING KNOCKED OUT.

True. Pereira's strengths are Jiri's weaknesses. Alex has a powerful hook and good calf kicks. Jiri virtually doesn't block and doesn't check calf kicks.

It's the worst matchup for Jiri in the whole division. Jiri ate so many punches in only 2 rounds against Rakic. He would get KOed like 5 times if it was against Pereira fighting like that. Not saying he should change his game, but it's just a terrible matchup for his fighting style.
