Here's my first 'The Faceless' play-through for "Xenochrist". This video was uploaded on the Sumerian channel and I'm putting it up here as well for my usual subscriber base to see.
For anyone who doesn't already know, I am the new drummer of The Faceless. I'm looking forward to a bright productive future with the band. We'll be out on tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan throughout April and May, so come out and hang!

At slower frame rates you just can't see everything that's going on when drummers play at these speeds

uhm, this isn't note for note. 3:25 has some ride action on the album, but that's the only thing i found, and IMO just open hihats are better than ride-hihat-switching. but i do not understand these 20 dislikes either.

Alex is a bit of an oddity for me. I'm not really a fan of about 90% of the music he plays but I'm still absolutely enthralled by his playing. I seen most of the videos he posts, and will continue to watch him whatever he posts. His talent and hard work shine through in his playing and something I'll always appreciate.

The thing that is so fucking astounding about Alex is what a clean/solid drummer he is at any tempo and in any time signature. Not to mention his ear for tonality as his drums always sound amazing as well. Just a true professional musician.

Any band that gets blessed with Alex's presence is a band I will listen to. The Faceless, Good Tiger, Monuments, The HAARP Machine, Conquering Dystopia - all amazing bands that made so much more sense when I realised Alex was in them at some point!

So... his kick technique is perfect, his wrist movement is immaculate, his fingerstyle is badass, he's obviously ambidextrous... and he has one of the best drum configurations I have seen, in my opinion. Not only that, he's not robotic and he actually looks like he's enjoying himself. HOW IS THIS THE FIRST TIME I'M SEEING HIM!?
