(Generally) As long as you're not a psychopath, even if you're "callous", your first instinct is to help others get away from trouble. Especially if you care about the person. Steve is laughing not at her for doing something so stupid, but how relieved he is that she is okay.

Steve was actually terrified to see her down there. Knowing the trap below. That’s why he rushed down to get her first. But she blew it up and somehow lived. So it went from death to a laughing matter.

Was about to say something like this. I like that Steve tried to help Alex as soon as he saw what Alex was precariously doing, but as she lived, he laughed at the whole thing. If you think about it, it's not really Steve's insensitivity but it's Alex's mistake which makes both of them even at that point. Past Steve would've made Alex step on the pressure plate, fully knowing what it is, and laugh at her misfortune.
