In the fight it felt like Gustafson won rounds 1-3 and Jones won 4-5. By the end of the 4th, Gustafson was hurt. But based on the rules, I still think Gustafson should have won.

Dominick Reyes definitely dominated at the beginning of the fight no doubt about it. People don’t realize Jon jones is such a smart guy he was waiting to tire him out and how he won that fight was leg kicks and take downs everyone thinks Dominick won because he has better shots but total strikes it was clear Jon had the advantage I truly believe Alexander Gustafson was the only man to beat Jon jones. Sucks to see his career end like that with the 4 fight loss streak.

Hard disagree, I have watched the first fight dozens of times with and without the commentary. Respectfully I can say that the early 2 rounds were gustafsson however I never see people talking about how Jon Jones began to pick him off with counter punches/kicks and control, it was clearly obvious that the turning point of the fight was when Jon landed a spinning elbow and a tired Alex began to let Jon tee off on him. There were many unanswered low kicks/body kicks and occasional counter punch Alex never returned in moments when Jon saw him tired. 3,4,5 I favoured Jon in nearly all of them.

Jon had more total strikes round for round too though, I get it as well. Watching it the first time it was hard to see. Round by round he just out pointed him. He landed more strikes and significant strikes in every round except for the 5th. They were dead even the 5th round, but Jon scored the takedown that round and it put him above on the score cards.

I loved this fight, the winner of it is moot. The fight itself was the best humanity has had to offer. Two men driven to be the best. A rocky fight that defined this generation of mma. It’s not about the outcome but the product of all the training and sacrifice both men did to make one of if not the greatest fight in mma history. Thank you god for both bones and the mauler for giving humanity everything they had ❤

Was a very close fight. Gus took rounds 1,3 and 2 was a toss up but I think jones won it then jones 4, and 5. Jon got him hurt late which was the deciding factor in my opinion

Jist rewatched the fight last night. First 3 rounds are veeeery back and forth so I'm not gonna call who won, I'm not a judge. And Jonny boy destroyed him 4 and 5 so yeah...no robbery. Classic fight though, still one of the greatest

I feel like a lot of people don’t understand, if you don’t beat the champ convincingly (via knockout or 3+ rounds CLEARLY won) then you don’t take the belt, if you go 5 rounds and relatively equal damage is done through the first 3, but the champ clearly wins 4 and 5, the champ wins

@@Unknownguy7689 Everything in that fight screams rigged to me, the pre-fight press conference, the face-off, the fight ending so eary in such a wierd way, and even Cyril Gane reaction after the loss. And you have motive, Dana couldn't let Jon Jones lose to someone who just lost to Francis Ngannou, it would be horrible for business and marketing of the HW division, it's bizarre that just a few people realize this. I don't think all UFC fights are rigged, in fact thats the only one that I know of.

It boiled down to John jones catching him with those hard ass licks that staggered him at the end of two rounds. Had they continued Gus wouldn’t have recovered. Up to that point Gus was woopin that ass before and in between. Looked like 3-2 Gus but maybe judges looked at the finishes of the two rounds harder. It’s likely 5 more seconds on both of those clocks Jones would have gotten stoppage. Most of y’all are accurate but I see bias for sure. Both savages. Both deserve dues. Would give my foot to see a rematch.

Maybe under UFC rules he lost. If it's based on pure damage and take down defense, then Gus won that easily. Just look at jones face after the match lmao. Gus's stand up striking vs jones was so good and see how bad jones defense. Weak af boxing/stand up strikes. If pavlovich or aspinall gets a match with jones its over.
