David Bondy it’s because of the fact he defected and they didn’t really support him and bure came after the Wall went down and it’s just a black eye for them they don’t want to acknowledge . On the contrary the sabres and the organization and Bush Sr. And Yale lawyers need the medal of freedom, they helped Alexander escape persecution and have liberty.

I've always said this. The only real scoring talent Sundin ever had. I LOVE Gary Roberts and Steve Thomas and they were awesome in the playoffs, but they weren't gonna threaten to win the scoring race. Every time I saw Sundin and Mogilny on a 2-on-1 I KNEW that it was a goal. Sundin was such a great playmaker and Alex the Great could skate and he could score with the best of 'em.

Check that speed with the Sabres , it was just before he got his leg broke in 3 when Bellows fall on it, i couldn't imagine if he didn't suffer that terrible injury that cause so much problems later !!! He played with one replaced hip his first year with the Leafs and manage to beat Sundin for the Leafs team lead, the only time Sundin didn't finish first on his team !!! Without that , he would easily get 600-700 goals and probably around 1500 points !!! When a guy manage to score 56 goals playing in a line with Ronning and Odgick, he got a sure talent !!! Oh and Scott Gomez will forever thank him for his RC of the year and huge contract he made after that with the Rangers !!!

When you watch old clips of guys like Mogilny, you can see the birth of so many plays that modern players incorporate into their game. That agile move where he goes into the zone with a burst but then quickly pulls the puck back with a little dangle is one of them. No way Ovechkin didn't grow up watching that then go out in practice and try it himself.

Favorite player as a kid. Him and LaFontaine were lethal. In the 1990 World Junior Championships, the Russians had a top line of - P. Bure - Fedorov - Mogilny. That is pure blazing speed and talent - probably the best scoring line in the history of hockey. In 1990 no one was be able to keep up with their speed. Hell, even today I doubt anyone could... Oh man he was amazing, I mean Canucks had Bure and Mogilny but what I noticed about Mogilny during that game was that he could take over the flow of the game. Yep , I remember that team. All 4 lines could score goals. Bobby Holik who they used to rely on for goals was a 3rd liner that year because the offensive lines were so stacked. P. Bure, Fedorov, Mogilny together where the best Russians during late 90s and early 2000. Just imagine how many more times Russia could have had won if Mogilny joined up with his national team more often along with P. Bure and Fedorov, but let's not forget other great Russians at this time, players such as young Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Kovalev, Yashin, Afinogenov, Samsonov along with so many more future super Russians that would later take over NHL. As a Swede, I have always been interested in Russian hockey, their players and their history. I remember when a Swedish reporter once asking Swedens head coach the question ''Could you ever imagine yourself ever beating Soviet?'' And the coach kinda gives this chuckle as if ''Are you serious?'' And said ''No, I wouldn't think so.''. Keep also this in mind that this was during a time when Sweden had a good team that could give other nations such as Canada and Czechoslovakia a proper challenge. Soviet/Russia has always been and will always be good at hockey, I hope this war can end for more reasons than the hockey of course, but I already miss having Russia in the WC and OG.

I may be bias because Alexander Mogilny is my favorite player of all time . That’s said, I’m a huge Devils fan and besides Alexander, i’ll also give you four more of my five favorite players Stefan Richer, Pierre Turgeon, Jeremy Roenick end Scott Stevens. My three goalies are Martin Brodeur, Eddie Belfour, In Grant fuhr

Mogilny and Lafontain had the chemistry of twins. The only other combo I can think of that were just as, if not a hair more exciting, were Gretzky and Kurri.

Honestly other than less clutching, no red line, and 3 on 3 OT, in 20 years hockey hasn't changed a lot. Go from the early 90's though, till the turn of the century, Hockey probably changed twice as much then as it did over the next 22 years.
