New to me & I LIKE IT!! 👍

I played this my freshman year of highschool, conducted by a very energetic man. This piece is a special memory. I think it is here where I began to dig up old and lost pieces with such rarity like this one. Mr. R if you are reading this, thank you for introducing me to a world I could have never imagined.

Thanks for this. I have never heard the whole thing, although I knew the Opening part. Actually, I knew some of the other sections tunes also; but have no idea where I might have heard them. Some of it sounds a little like Gounod's Faust ballet music. Great fun, and Bonynge is so good at this sort of repertoire. I can see, from your other KZfaq postings, that you are interested in the same kind of music I am. Can't wait to explore some of your other offerings!

I owned this once as a 12 year old on 3 shellac discs which I bought at the local church jumble sales & played on a wind up gramophone, loudly in my grandma's front room, the depth of sound of those crackly 78s can never be reproduced on modern methods, my 2 brothers & I would make up all sorts of nonsense to accompany & amuse ourselves...........

Brilliant! Bonynge conducts with flair...he seldom does otherwise. The music is beautifully crafted and pleasurable to listen to. I suddenly had an image of Wilson and Keppel, the Egyptian Sand Dance act, which is ludicrous, I know, but it just goes to show how the mind works in mysterious ways!!

What a gem! This was one of the first pieces of music my parents introduced to me on a 45 rpm EP back in early 1960s. It has brought back lots of wonderful memories. A rare piece that is hardly played at all these days. Thank you for bring back into the domain Rodders.

As a young musician ,I heard the "Egyptian ballet" for the very 1st time in Aug.1982. It was a splendid military-brass band version, performed by ensembles on the island of Corfu. Since then ,it never stopped to impress me thanks to the frequent radio broadcasts and maestro R. Bonynge who conducted it with aplomb and "élan". It isn't too much to say that Bonynge, "saved" a large number of romantic era ballet scores by "reconstructing" them meticulously and recording them with one of the world's best orchestras, the L.S.O.!

Thanks for the upload. I had this version on a record set called Homage To Pavlova, but it was scratched and noisy. I have never heard it sound so good until now.

I'm here because of Revenge of the Mutant Camels on the Commodore 64. True story.

They've really improved the SID chip by leaps and bounds haven't they? :O
