I've read that Bergara's have had accuracy issues due to some of the stock paint covering the bedding blocks. I wonder if the paint at 12:51 could be causing some of the disparity in group size.

Yeah, I had Bergara that wouldn't shoot. I removed the paint and it made no difference. I sent it to Bergara twice to get it fixed and they never did get it to shoot. The second time they sent it back with rust all over the bolt and some in the barrel. At that point I had had enough and just sold it.

Hey I don’t want to burst your bubble, but that’s the Ruger American gen II standard. The predator isn’t out yet. Just the standard and the ranch models. Predator will likely be a green splatter stock. I think they’ll probably pair that with a black cerakote job, but idk. If they went all green it would be pretty sick.

Good review! Generally speaking, does this overall quality ranking (in decreasing order) seem accurate to you: Savage 110, Ruger American Gen. 2, Savage Axis 2? Specifically, would you place the Savage 110 Tactical above the Ruger Gen. 2 (in .308)?
@Pyroesuna
@Pyroesuna 5 күн бұрын
This seems to be completely opposite of most reviews I’ve seen. Ruger seems to do fantastic especially considering it’s a budget option. All rifles love and hate certain ammo so that’s not a big deal especially since the grains were all similar. I’ve heard this is like a budget tikka but the barrel doesn’t rust as easily. Other than that not a huge difference. Action isn’t as smooth until you put like 75 rounds through it and clean it thoroughly.

First off 308 VS 6.5 Creedmoor 308 barrel can last up to 8,000 rounds Creedmoor 2,000-3,000 Big game 308 heaver bullets. Drop in a trigger spring upgrade. I know pain it's a pain to remove the trigger latch. do the trigger spring and blue lock tight action screws at 50 inch pounds then test again. I would buy a magpul stock for more feathers and end the mag release for good. There are no box stores rifle that don't need upgrades. I did this to my ranch rifle 5.56 but used a timney trigger. 75 grain hornady steel match sub one MOA five shot groups.
@mickeydoodle6014
@mickeydoodle6014 5 ай бұрын
What people fail to understand, this is a sample size of one. I have seen, for the most part, this being a “average” one MOA rifle. You will get shots between 3/4 and 1-1/4 for three shot groups. That is still really good for a budget rifle. I personally have taken my time and got one group that was .302”. I consistently get groups that are .9 and .8. That was with federal gold medal match 168 grain the 175s shot a little better but I like the 168 for my other rifles and my friends who help reload. You may have harmonic issues with the stock, a picky rifle, or poor quality control. I would be interested to know what would happen if you took the rifle apart and retorqued it down. My stock had even gap between each side of the barrel. Most of them do not, and this can cause accuracy issues. People need to stop getting offended by honest reviews even if someone accidentally says the wrong thing. People are right, it is not the predator model. It is the new standard model. I actually find it quite incredible that your Mossberg patriot is averaging under 2 inches. Most reviews I have seen are far worse. This is a point in case of this video. Most videos I have seen with the Ruger Gen two is far more accurate than yours. As for the barrel length issue, if you measure a barrel using the approved method of breach face to muzzle, it is 21 inches. Subtract the 1 inch of muzzle break and you get 20 inches. I highly encourage you to research the nomenclature of what you’re talking about. People will easily discredit what you’re talking about if you don’t sound like you know what you’re talking about. I have been there, trust me lol. All things considered, you shouldn’t have to, but I would do some things to ensure that the actual barrel is the issue before claiming the accuracy deficiencies you were getting. Maybe contact Ruger and explain that to them and see what they have to say. I have contacted Ruger for several things over the years and find their customer service to be quite satisfactory.

How long did it take to test 10 different loads? Was it allowed to cool between load changes. Was it cleaned between load changes so that each load would have the same starting point as far as having a clean barrel? The muzzle break looked really dirty is why I was asking. These are all things that could affect the accuracy that have nothing to do with the actual rifle. All of the other reviews I have seen show it to be fairly accurate, but they were different calibers. Thanks in advance.
@EpikArms

Hi Justin, all my rifle tests are done exaclty the same, no cleaning between ammo (and this reflects well with many other rifles) , from my experience and from information from the pros this has no impact on accuracy (rimfire is a different story) Also the barrel is let to cool down between each different ammo. It takes forever at the range, but that just how it is

How many factory rifles shoot consistently under an inch at 100y with factory ammo. My personal experience has showed me the opposite to you results. The .308 win has been always more accurate on average than any of the .264 cal rivals, 260 rem, 6.5 cr and so on. The closer a cartridge approaches the point of being overbore, the more difficult they are to be made accurate. So, does this test of this .308, conclude the rifle is not accurate or that factory ammo on average can't do better than 2 moa, is really the question.

I’m new at this and was wondering what MOA means? ✌🏻🇨🇦

Moa is a unit of measure for angles. But simply put 1 moa at 100 yards or meters is about 1" and that's the expectation for rifles to be able to be considered accurate

It's verbiage for those who think every HUNTING RIFLE, should split the hairs on a fleas As$ at a hundred yards...no one who is hunting in real life is going to care if it's a spec off at 100 yards.. Does it put the rounds in a 5- 8 inch area?(vital areas for most deer, elk.. Everyone wants to be a know it all critic when most of that adjustment isn't necessary for basic deer, elk ,bear hunting..

Ruger just always drops the ball on something. The gen 1 its only good fearure was its accuracy. The gen 2 not so much

6.5 is weak !! Not a good medium game round. 308 is also weak.

Doesn't even know what he is reviewing and downgrading it. That's a Gen 2 standard. made it to 8 minutes of his ignorance and uneducated review that is far from Epik

your a real hero if you made it that far, I salute you. lol in truth I didnt even think twice i have the gen1 predator and this one. this Gen2 technically would be a predator (like the gen1) if they hadn't fluted the barrel. there is no other distinction. but yeah you guys are right! lol

Everything about this review and process is ignorant. You are doing a disservice to a very capable rifle and caliber.
