This is an incredible theory that I’d totally buy into, but I have a nitpick over the ending. Whenever Squidward romantically fantasizes about a relationship, it’s always himself with a female (e.g: him dancing with a lady on a magazine, his dream of marrying a Krabby Patty and having a kid, etc.). So, while it isn’t impossible for Squidward to be in a gay relationship, I have another theory to pose: Squidward and Squilliam were in love and feuding over the same girl in high school. A classic rivalry as old as time, Squidward won the affection of a girl whom Squilliam wanted as well and would go to the nail to humiliate Squidward for it. Perhaps this hypothetical lady knew Squidward was more talented than he seemed and knew Squilliam was a fraud hiding behind his money. Now to explain the robe: in Squilliam’s attempts to win the girl over, he gifted a robe to her. However, she continued to adore Squidward more and ended up leaving it with him, further infuriating Squilliam.

But squidward's pride and ego made him choose the hard way to become a famous musician and artist. He even started to be a cashier for (probably) minimum wage at the krusty krab to get financially independant from Squilliam. Squidward underestimated his idea gravely because he thought this would be easy. This was a big mistake that made him lose his beautiful long hair. Wow this is already two years old, I still remember watching this for the first time when it was like a month old.

Bikini Bottom may not have a dedicated pet hospital, but it may be linked up with their main hospital. Even if it doesn't, Dr. Gill Gilliam proved in "Once Bitten" (the episode where Gary starts biting people and Patrick spreads mass hysteria about Gary's bite turning people into essentially zombies) that he is knowledgeable on veterinarian care because he correctly knows Gary has "Grouchy Snailitis" and knows Gary's bite doesn't turn people into zombies. He also removes Gary's splinter like a pro, so idk I think he knows a think or two about pets even if there may not be a pet hospital, so it makes sense for him to be at Squidward's about a dying pet if someone called.
