Fortunatly, it's not a fake. I use Ableton Live on stage. To create the "kick" in live with the hammer I use: piezo microphone, compressor, octaver, and EQ. At 0:58 I start to knock on every second kick to create a "snare" every second kick (difficult to hear on the video). I use: piezo microphone and a overdrive. For sync: ear monitor with a metronome and a live quantification. A lot of pratice and Ableton knowledge. If you want a training with Ableton, I can give you one if you want to learn.

ok cool, u are using midi pedal to trigger the ableton? The thing that threw me of was the hammer to make the snare, I use ableton myself

Yes, I use a midi foot controller FCB1010 to control my loops and Ableton. No worries Ableton mate. All the best. ;)

ok lets elaborate on it for the slower ones, it is track prerecorded in studio and all the moves and tools he uses is just an act, nobody doubts that he made that track...in studio, but its obvious this is not live. @ 0:58 he starts to knock on every second kick(0-1-0-1) instead of (4/4) 1-1-1-1
