Honeymoon phase in rebound relationships are shorter than normal relationships as well. I feel like honeymoon phase in a normal relationship that moves at a slow and steady pace lasts for a year or so. But in rebounds, because everything is moving so quickly and it’s not built on anything solid those honeymoon phase only last like maybe 3 months. Either way...focus on yourself! Let them be.

I think there are so many complicating factors to this. Like, how does this play out when there are kids involved, from either one of the two people involved in the rebound, or both. And how does the rebound being long-distance factor in with the timing or strength of the rebound? Also, I presume the wording that if it's three to four months (i.e., a couple of months) following the break-up, your partner is in a rebound means that if they got together with someone else in the interim, rather than just simply taking a snapshot. Because, while rebound relationships can potentially turn into (often unhealthy and dissatisfactory) over time, it can take months for a rebound to build up to its peak... It'd be really interesting to hear more about this kind of dynamic.

I don't think there is a time limit on a rebound could be years if there's still strong feelings for the ex

My ex and I officially broke up in December 2021. We didnt stop sleeping with eachother until July 2022. and that was only becuase I was having issues finishing in bed. But i never took our relationship as seriously as I should have in the past. the 22 y.o. is definitely using her as a rebound (in fact he monkey branched to her from his toxic ex who he broke up with 7 times apparently) from what she tells me. But watching this trying to feel better because my ex rebounded 1 week after me (2 year long relationship) and then realising now that I WAS also the rebound of his 5 year long ex (we met 1 month after his ex).. I had a few rebound relationships. Mainly because I couldn’t be alone. I was desperately lonely. BUT one relationship was for a specific reason I wanted to share my insight on. I was in a toxic relationship with a guy (named Mark) & I knew I needed to get out & there was another guy (we’ll call him Sam) that was very interested in dating me for quite some time & offered to help me get out of the relationship with Mark. I was reluctant but Sam promised that if I gave him a shot, he’d make sure Mark never bothered me again. I wasn’t really interested in Sam but I agreed & we had a 4 month fling. It too became toxic and I left Sam. But was grateful he got me away from Mark. Sometimes you need to burn a bridge down so you don’t cross it again. It wasn’t mature or right. But I entered a rebound for protection & safety to get me away from an angry alcoholic. I don’t regret it. It was a necessary evil that worked & at the time felt like my only way out.
