This week’s film breakdown analyzes Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers as he embarks on his quest for his 4th MVP and 2nd Super Bowl. For his entire career teams have tried to fool him with pressure, exotic coverages or anything else they can scheme up, but time and time again Rodgers has overcome and absolutely dominated. How has he managed to still see THIS much success at the age of 37? This week’s episode uses the all-22 coaches film to analyze Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense.

No doubt. Tom Brady should've only won 3 super bowls realistically, he was handed 2 of them by opposing team's (Atl/Seattle), then we had the tuck rule win, extremely laughable, and then the Vinatieri kick was squeaker win. I am not impressed by Tom Bradys victories , let's not forget they cheated. Bill Belichick is definitely that kind of guy who would cheat. Its a shame the Packers defense has failed Rodgers in the playoffs over the years because he would and should have atleast 3 Super Bowls

Aside from his pin point accuracy, release, velocity, arm strength, pocket awareness and decision making is an aspect many people don't always notice: Rodgers' IQ. His uncanny ability to read a defense pre snap and make any necessary adjustments post snap is second to none.

I am inclined to believe AR elevates himself from thinkin like that. They talk about football IQ but I have a strong suspicion AR is around the 99 percentile when it comes to general IQ among football players. Smalltime ppl he can handle, even if they are powerful ppl like team owners, players of importance and what not. AR is more like a matematician or an astronomer than a QB at times. He got the horizon to be down-to-earth when it matters

The down year Rodgers had in 2022 really shows how ridiculously good this aspect of his game is, and the way people reacted to this season really shows how few people understand it. Yeah he had a few rough throws and he saw a huge drop in WR talent on his team, but the biggest loss was his telepathic connection with Adams. You could really see he was trying to teach these rookie receivers how to read the defense themselves and make these plays, but they just didn't get it yet. You could view this as a flaw in Rodgers' game, but I see it as the most unique football talent in the history of the quarterback position.

I don’t know if it’s better drafting/player assessment or training after acquisitions, but Green Bay seems to be Wide Receiver University. Time and time again a #1 receiver leaves the game hurt and some no-name character comes off the bench and plays like an All-Pro. This is not meant to diminish Rodgers’ contributions or talent. He’s incredible. That said, it’s always nice to have a target-rich environment when on the field of play.

Give Alex’s previous “No longer elite” analysis a fair watch (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJOmiNCJqdmYeIE.html) and then watch this one again. Sure, a lot of us said that the previous video didn’t age well but the film breakdown was on point at that time. Seeing the difference from 2019 to 2020 and now 2021 only proves that Aaron should be MVP again, and Matt should be coach of the year. Many of the points Alex was critical of in 2019 (Aaron’s footwork, throwing within the structure of the concept, relying on extending plays) were the very things Aaron worked to fix so that he could go on his 2020 “revenge tour” and compete for MVP again in 2021 for his “last dance”. He focused on lower body strength conditioning, worked with Matt extensively in the off season to adapt the offensive scheme to meld classic west coast concepts with Shanahan zone-run system, and retrained himself on footwork and timing. Personally I’d love to see Alex go back to the 2019 video and break down Aaron’s “return to eliteness”.

Thanks for this comment Marcus! I believe Rodgers is in more of a "system" than he ever was with McCarthy (not a bad thing at all) and it took him some time to completely buy into playing in this system. That first year didn't look 100% clean, but to his credit he did buy in and is now an absolute machine.
@MarcusHacklercms
@MarcusHacklercms 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. And the beauty of being an elite QB with complete mastery of the scheme is that he has all of the tools at his disposal, and the experience to use them in the most nuanced of ways. It speaks a lot to MLF’s humility to listen to AR and incorporate and build previous concepts into his scheme too. One of the biggest areas of progress (outside of the timing and footwork) is AR being comfortable with the first read. He was so used to taking hole shots on drive plays that it was hard for him to take the wide open crossers off of rubs in mesh (a staple in MLF’s system). Fast forward, he understands how to leverage these routine completions into eventual bombs to MVS. Super fun to watch. GPG!

The thing about Rodgers is not so much his intelligence and football knowledge, there have been a number of those guys over the years... what sets him apart is his nearly savant level photographic memory / total recall... its similar to Favre's iron man status... lots of guys keep themselves in shape and work on protecting themselves as they play, but Brett had some kind of freak of nature ability to endure pain/avoid injury anatomically .. its just something special in both cases... just sit back and enjoy the ride cause its not gonna last forever

It amazes me how many dumbbells there are out there. They seem to think that all it takes is a great quarterback and you'll automatically get multiple Super Bowl appearances and victories. The quarterback is one of eleven on JUST THE OFFENSE. He plays no part in the defense. Or the special teams. Then there's the coaching staff. There are a lot of factors, variables, and moving parts. But SO many people talk about Aaron not winning or getting to Super Bowls as if he can do it on his own. He can't. Neither can Brady. Judge him on HIS play and only his play. Knocking HIM (an individual, no matter how good he is) because of the lack of TEAM accomplishments is illogical and ridiculous.

Tom Brady, watching film of Aaron Rogers with Jimmy Garoppolo when they were both at the Patriots, called Aaron Rogers the most evolved Quarterback. I think he's right. That said, even the best QB took 1 full year to learn Kyle Shanahan's offense well via Matt LaFleur. Rogers was somewhat functional in his first year with LaFleur, but the offense is complex and takes time to learn, even for top NFL QBs like Rogers, Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub, etc. That's why Rogers is so much better in the offense in his second year with LaFleur. (Lesson being that no one should expect Trey Lance, a highly inexperienced but talented rookie QB, to learn Kyle's offense instantly. It will take him at least 1 full year of playing to get good at it. And Trey Lance came to the NFL lacking a LOT of knowledge of situational football and NFL offensive and defensive scheme. Practice squad has been the perfect place for him to learn those, but he's still highly inexperienced and will NEED TIME TO LEARN MORE FOOTBALL.)

Lance will get his time to shine, but he should sit for a year or two. Once he masters the offense, the NFC will have a new menace at the QB position
@LoanwordEggcorn
@LoanwordEggcorn 2 жыл бұрын
@@sergiosalazar8702 Well, Jimmy will probably be gone next year, so it's Trey's team now, for better or worse. It's definitely going to take him time to learn to be a QB in the NFL, and to play Kyle's complex offense. I hope he's learned a lot in the past few months, but he came to the NFL with relatively little experience at being a QB.
