Look forward to the next video. I LOVE watching your video. I found it very interesting and I learned a lot about how to become an English teacher in Viet Nam. Watching your videos brings back my childhood memories. Not only about Ninja English teachers (all young cool teachers I love seeing them in your video), but also about traveling and food. Thank you for posting.

This video is perfect! Thank you!! I have been teaching in Vietnam for 6 years. I've seen a lot of foreigners come and go, many times quickly. I would also add that you need to understand that the work culture is different. So, try to overcommunicate your needs so that people understand. Being open-minded is the most important when dealing with a sometimes opposite culture. I will share this video with my school. Maybe it will help them and the future foreign teachers. Cheers!

As a Vietnamese, I completely agree with you. There is a difference, Vietnamese people value English very much, we consider it a high-level skill. So try to integrate into Vietnamese culture, instead of Western. We are willing to pay high salaries if you do well, the problem is I also don't know who will teach well and effectively. If you know how to do that, know how to promote your business, should have free teaching so that customers can feel it, I believe you have a very high income. And you will live like a king in Vietnam. Trust me, I am a father, a businessman. Most Vietnamese people speak bad English, we also don't have faith in Vietnamese teachers, I am using Google translate kkk

@@wildblueworld As I said English in Vietnam is a high level skill. Because the tongue structure of Vietnamese people is different from Westerners. That's why they often pronounce it wrong. To be successful in Vietnam, you need to understand the local culture, and learn basic Vietnamese. I think it's true for every other market. That won't be difficult if you make friends with Vietnamese people, you teach English for free and they teach you Vietnamese. Let me introduce you to Dan Hauer, look for his youtube channel. He taught English for free and made a lot of money on KZfaq, but he made the stupid mistake of insulting the Vietnamese hero: General Vo Nguyen Giap. Perhaps understanding the local culture and language is the number 1 factor for success.

@ngothuat2045 You are absolutely correct! My wife and I have been to a few Asian countries, but only 1 day in Vietnam while passing by. We love learning new languages and cultures, I speak 3 languages, and my wife is currently learning Indonesian. When we traveled, for example, Thailand, we learn the basic words and sentences as a form of respect for the people and their culture, and they appreciate that. Also it makes a lot easier to get by and make friends. My wife also taught English in two Asian countries before. She's a professional cook and I'm a photographer, so we would LOVE to visit Vietnam for the food, culture, the people, teach English, and make a beautiful photo book of the country, its culture, traditions and the people. We will definitely go there, maybe for 3 months, or 6, 12, who knows. Maybe we will meet you there 😂, who knows. Big mistake the guy talking bad about the General, not good at all. I hope he learned his lesson. But I'll check his channel. Thanks for your opinions and information 🤝@@ngothuat2045

I am also a sushi chef and i tried to apply for jobs in these sushi restaurants but got rejected. I have no clue what can i do here. I am still walking around Vung Tau until my stay at the hotel here is up. Also I want to pass on my skills to someone before I die. Seems impossible. Thanks for this video.

I know I’ll have to leave the country every time and I’m prepared for that. Not having finished my Bachelor’s degree I assume I’m not eligible to teach.

Da Nang is the most competitive city in Vietnam to secure teaching jobs in as it’s a tourist city and has only a handful of English centers that are rarely hiring. Even the most experienced and qualified teachers typically struggle to secure work there.

There is a gap between Chinese and Vietnamese, you know, we fought for thousands of years. However, I guarantee that Vietnamese people are very friendly, even with Chinese, Americans, French. If you overcome the gap, open your heart, be honest, objective... I think you will succeed in Vietnam. Vietnam will become China's number 2 trading partner in the next 1-2 years, the opportunity to get rich is bigger. I think you should create 2 youtube channels, one channel for Vietnamese people, one channel for Chinese people, you should avoid political issues and arguments. Da Nang is a very good start, you must know basic Vietnamese communication. I hope you will have a beautiful Vietnamese wife if you don't have a family yet, sorry I don't know if you are male or female. Good luck

@@josperchristian886 You are very open about your sexuality, Good. I think you can already communicate in Thai, understand Thai culture. So moving to other countries is a big waste. You know China has excess production capacity, they need to push their goods to other countries, including Thailand, that is your opportunity. Besides, Thailand is quite behind other countries in Southeast Asia such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia in terms of economic development, they are having to solve this headache. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, will continue the policies of the former prime minister: Srettha Thavisin, because they are in the same party and so there will not be much change because that is foolish. Paetongtarn Shinawatra will be advised by her father, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, and Srettha Thavisin. I think she will continue to improve the Thai economy, because that is a must if Thailand does not want to fall behind. There will be a gap in the new policy and that is your chance to get rich kkk

Is the job market still viable in 2024? I keep seeing more and more about how TEFL in Vietnam is stagnating, and the job market is oversaturated. Is this true or is it still possible to get hired right now in VN?
@ninja.teacher
@ninja.teacher 2 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s definitely still possible to get hired in 2024. We are able to help all our 4 week in-class TEFL course participants secure work after graduation each month. There is always a turnover of teachers in Vietnam (as the majority of foreign teachers do not stay in Vietnam forever) so jobs regularly become available. Bear in mind that our program contains a lot of teaching practicum and we have a good reputable with employers in Vietnam because of the quality of our training. If you only have an online TEFL with no teaching practicum, and no experience teaching, it could be more challenging to secure employment as schools select the most qualified teachers from their options. I’d say the market is about the same as it was pre-covid. I think people who are saying it’s not good right now are probably comparing it to how it was right after COVID where schools were more desperate for teachers, so naturally it’s not the same as that now that things have returned to normal.

You are always great to listen to Alex I have been convinced for a long time to give this TEFL path a shot. I go to school in Arizona at UofA, I would want to relocate and teach close to the water, Da nang is the place to be from my understanding but as you said below nearly impossible to get a job there. Do you deal with a lot of south west / desert environment expats with your programs? I havent met many people out here to do more than visit SEA let alone live in Vietnam. I feel like as a Tucson resident somewhere like Saigon would be incredibly daunting.

Alex, thanks for making this video. At least you care about the existence of your English teaching center in Vietnam. Good news: dedicated and professional people like you, or professors teaching subjects in English at universities in Vietnam, will have a long-lasting presence there. Bad news: those who come to Vietnam to teach English just because of the low cost of living, with a bad attitude and unprofessional behavior, won't last in Vietnam. According to some recent news articles in Vietnam, people believe that in the future, Vietnamese students will use AI, like ChatGPT, to learn English, including pronunciation practice. They think using AI to learn English will be cheaper and more accessible, especially for low-income families who can't afford to send their kids to English centers. If Vietnam adopts AI-based English learning, those 'wanderers' you mentioned in your video won't have the chance to come to Vietnam to teach English.

@@ninja.teacher Alex that's not true. You have overpromoted teaching in VN so there are now way too many teachers. As a result, salaries are collapsing to the point that many foreign teachers are leaving VN because they cannot afford to live there on teaching wages.

From VNExpress: "Foreign teachers in Vietnam are facing increasingly tough times as salaries drop and competition intensifies, challenging their ability to sustain their livelihoods and prompting many to reconsider their futures.Amy, who has been teaching English in Ho Chi Minh City for nearly two years, is preparing to return to the U.S. due to steadily decreasing salaries for foreign teachers like her.
