That's why there is a car commission in most states that will SUE for you. I had to do this in Louisiana. The owner of the car dealership and the salesman had to go to Baton Rouge Louisiana from Shreveport or Mansfield which was about a 4 hour drive for them. I didn't have to go to court as a person who came from there inspected my car a few times and represented me in court. They either had to fix the car or give me something of equal value of what I paid for the car.

I've heard cars go years with a ticking lifter. It sounds bad but usually won't hurt anything as long as oil is kept up with. Worst thing happens put a cam kit in it. Changing one lifter as a pro mechanic assures a comeback because others may soon join it. Unhappy customer. Also many people have to live with it because they don't have 2 or more cars to have one down for days or weeks.

I have a lifter tick on my 92 Lincoln town car☹️ but I’m in one of those situations where I gotta drive it to be able to have the money to fix it 😂 Update: wasn’t lifters, definitely was timing chain and tensioners, got em replaced, tick is gone. Very common in town cars at around 150k. Now my transmission is taking a shit on me lol, time to get a rebuild or a new tranny

@@MrMicahMane sea foam doesn’t work on 4 strokes only 2 strokes. 2 strokes lubricate with the gas. That’s why it’s ‘sea’ foam, 2 stroke boat motors…. To actually clean the inside of an engine u need those walnut sprayers & to take your engine apart. There’s specific stuff for your gas tank. Sea foam won’t hurt obv.& there’s oil shit too. Doesn’t hurt, just don’t expect it to REALLY clean anything. Can help, but in reality it’s sorta a waste

@@user-bq1fp8xo6myeah I was gonna agree with you, I can’t tell you how many times when I worked at autozone people would buy sea foam for their cars that were missing and then it would do almost nothing and they would be surprised even after I tried to explain to them what it’s for. And yeah as far as cleaning a engine goes you’re gonna have to take it apart and use something. I feel like the oil additives to clean the engine from running it only really help when you have a ton of sludge in the motor

Dude! This is what I have been telling my dad for a year now! His 08 Chevy express van with 350,000 miles on it started misfiring….he kept driving it…I told him it might just be a burned out coil or plug causing the misfire..,an easy fix if it’s not caused too much damage….went and got the parts after several months of telling him this and him not listening cuz I’m just a stupid girl so what do I know! Guess what…he damaged cylinder 7 that had lost compression. If he had stopped and listened when I first started misfiring, he would still be driving the damned thing. But instead he wanted to think I’m an idiot and don’t know anything even though I’ve built him and mom a dodge pickup out of two that had a lot of problems each…and have two vehicles of my own that have a ton of miles on them and still run perfectly! 🤷‍♀️ sooooooo….now I get to do my first engine overhaul….on a Chevy 293 v8…. All Chevy and gmc owners…if u keep having problems like the Chevy express vans have with bad exhaust manifolds that keep coming loose and leaking and warped heads or bad head gaskets….stop using e85 gas! It causes the engine to run much hotter then premium unleaded which causes aluminum heads that all cars have today to warp….it’s hard to find cuz the aluminum will flex back to its normal shape as soon as it cools but as soon as it’s heated again it’ll leak coolant out of the head gasket area into the back coil packs and onto the exhaust manifold which causes the coil and plug to malfunction leading to a misfire….the manufacturer banks in the fact most Americans can’t afford a mechanic bill to fix the simple issue and continue driving with the misfire which causes damage to the cylinder that ends up to be permanent….and engine failure. The exhaust manifold bolts on Chevy engines are all just a hair too long which keeps it from torquing properly into the heads which combined with “E85” use and too much heat eventually causing the heads to warp, Chevy is guaranteed to have another customer sooner then they should have….it’s engineered to fail within 200,000 miles at max! I’ve seen them fail around 80,000 miles on well kept vehicles and in models as old as 2002….

cam on that would’ve been inside the block and way less likely it was damaged compared to these pos 3.6 dohc cam. The shitty rocker rides right under the cam and when the bearing goes in the rocker the cam has no choice but to run on the edges of the rocker arm, thus destroying the cam lobe

Or you could do what I did and go stick shift. The lifters don’t tend to fail as much on the manual cars because they don’t have MDS. The MDS puts a ton of strain on these engines. The older non-vvti/mds hemi engines definitely lived a lot longer. Also, it depends on the wear additives in your oil. I know that oil with a lot of zinc is recommended for flat tappet cams for break in but in these engines it makes a big difference. Otherwise you’ll need something like Amsoil or (my personal favorite) BND Automotive Quantum Blue.

Also, how much life should you get out of the lifters and are lifters used only in the hydraulic application; so if you have adjustment ability in the engine, you don't have lifters?

If I go from P (very top) straight to drive (sliding past R, and N) no noise, only when I intentionally stop on R, Car isn't moving at all just idling while holding brake. Alex in your opinion what causes the lifter tick? I heard it was excess idling and lack of lubrication to the lifters at lower rpm’s. If that’s the case can a HPOP like the hellcat one fix this

TRUE! I once had a traverse come in with a destroyed engine. They had an extended insurance policy....they had me teardown the motor....the bearings were black! They heard noise and kept driving....maybe because they wanted a motor. The policy denied their claim! They had to pay straight out of pocket

Definitely just don’t beat on it or don’t beat on it so often. Maintain make sure it’s well oiled if you plan to keep your vehicle stretch it out a bit then get it repaired. New lifters or whatever is ticking get it repaired/ replaced cause if you leave it like that for too long luckily I lucked out lol It’ll wear down so much it’ll cause big engine damage

You can drive it it’s a typical Chrysler Hemi V8 issue especially when they get close to high mileage or high mileage you begin hearing it. Same with the fricken exhaust manifolds. 🤦🏻‍♂️dodge Chrysler was proud of the hemi even with some of its cheapness. Like, the stupid manifolds and heat shields. The TINY bolts rust and break the heat shield would become lost and flap around you get exhaust leak from rusty manifold or a gap in the housing of where the manifold seals to the block. No good. Another ticking noise that can be. So many people drive with the lifter tick and be ok including myself. My hemi still powerful and many miles. It’s fine to do so. Keep your oil changes regular use full synthetic you’ll be alright. I rebuilt my hemi at 250k myself. Worn lifters for sure. Nothing severe. I floored that old beast a lot. It took it. Care for your things they’ll stick with you

@@microsoft790 insanely loud has 4k on it just rebuilt and it sounds like it’s knocking… mmmmmm I’d check into it again may be something done wrong. If someone else did it they could of did a crappy job! Plus what I love about hemis is they are notorious for ticks. Either exhaust manifold or lifters or I think rockers too can tick. Usually lifters and manifolds bolts rust and break and the heat shield starts to fall off… then exhaust leak hence ticking The 6.2 GM V8 the lifters just fail! Completely gotta rebuild motor meanwhile the hemis tick and they LAST.

Depends upon the vehicle. The four cylinder that came in the Mazda mx6, 626, and ford probe have Rhodes lifters and that tick is basically meaningless. Trying to fix it is both expensive and likely futile.
