Based on my experience in Victoria, if a non-laminated windscreen was original equipment when the car was new then it can be installed. The aforesaid only applies to restored cars - not modified cars. However there is no doubt that a laminated version is safer. For the new windscreeen, recommend you check its shape with the old screen as I have encountered some new windscreens that were poorly manufactured and posed a problem when fitted - i.e. the central bottom edge of the screen tended to jut out of the sealing strip.

Coming along nicely! One question, though: why didn't the wiper motor fuse blow when all that heat must've been building up in the system?
