Alfred Hayes hates American tea

Dastardly manager "Lord" Alfred Hayes drinks his disgusting American tea while cutting a heelish promo for the International Wrestling promotion that's coming to Detroit. Hayes' charge in this video is the legendary Englishman, Billy Robinson.
While Hayes will mainly be remembered for his 80's and 90's slapstick comedy personality in the WWF, he was quite a wrestler beforehand and played a great villain manager as seen here. Don't you love the way his R's roll? :)

Man, this was great. Leave it Vince McMahon to dumb down Hayes' charisma and just make him a punching bag. He offered so much more. Brilliant heel promo by His Lordship.

@Jack jones Yes, we all know the rib Al Hayes pulled where he pulled his (apparently super-sized) dick out and chased Roddy around screaming "ROD-DAY ROD-DAY". I agree that that behavior is unacceptable sexual harassment, but in the 80s (and 90s, and 70s, and 60s, and 50s, etc.), that was unfortunately just part of the backstage culture amongst the boys. If you wanna nail Al Hayes to the cross for this incident, prepare to also eliminate Ric Flair (who routinely exposed himself to stewardesses on planes while wearing nothing but his robe), or people like Mr. Perfect, X-Pac, and many others who have on their records a variety of sh*t related ribs (sh*tting in people's bags, etc.). Oh, and Piper -- while admitted that the dick rib wasn't funny to him -- says that he "loves" Alfred Hayes, and that he taught him so much. He also says that his main problem was that he liked "the young gals" a little too much. So there goes your cute "Gay Lord" portion of your comment. And yeah, Piper loved him by his own admission. Feel free to delete your comment, Guy. I won't blame you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lbtnbMybqceUeWQ.html

@Jack jones No, I'm not "JUSTIFYING" sexual abuse as part of a culture -- I'm just ACKNOWLEDGING that it exists (see: "college fraternities", or "any-sport-with-histories-of-hazing"). Waving your dick around is DEFINITELY not normal. But neither is taking a shit in people's luggage ("Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig" and "Shawn 'X-Pac' Waltman") or walking around in airplanes and exposing yourself to stewardesses ("Ric Flair"). And by the way, have you heard any of the stories about Pat Patterson or Terry Garvin? All I'm saying is that if you're pissed at Al Hayes for doing his perverted ribs, prepare to be pissed at ALL OF THE OTHER WRESTLERS who did perverted ribs, and all of the off-color backstage chicanery that would get you and I fired from our jobs when the victim of said ribs went to Human Resources and complained. I think it's pretty gross, but I acknowledge that it happened and was CLEARLY a part of the backstage culture, since it happened for so long. Be consistent. Because if you're mad at Al Hayes for walking around with his dick out there's a lot of other way more famous and popular wrestlers to also be furious with for pulling even more disgusting ribs (I only mentioned Flair, Curt Hennig, and X-Pac because they have some of the most (in)famous stories, but if you listen to enough wrestling podcasts or watch enough shoot videos, you'll find out that some of your childhood heroes also did some disgusting things in the name of "fun" or "pranks" or "ribs". If you have any friends who played college football -- don't ask for those stories about "hazing incidents". It might make you clutch your pearls even more than learning that "Alfred Hayes pulled his dick out". And again -- Roderick Toombs said that while Al Hayes' dick rib "wasn't funny", he also said that he loved Alfred Hayes and gave many examples of their friendship over the years. Pretty sure that main-event-level Roddy Piper had more pull backstage than B-level announcer Alfred Hayes did backstage and he could have gotten him fired if he simply wanted him gone. Didn't happen. But go ask Roddy Piper's corpse if he was lying when he said that since you're not willing to take the living man at his word. (And I didn't know you were a licensed psychologist! Did you seriously just diagnose him with "Stockholm Syndrome" from a wrestling shoot interview? TREMENDOUS.) And btw: your "Gay Lord" comment is obviously homophobic. So you've already abandoned any moral high ground you somehow thought you were on, but somehow I get the impression that you'll just double-down on gay slurs...

No, he wasn't, But Mean Gene once told the story of where he was being interviewed by a radio station and the DJ tried to expose him as a fake by calling someone affiliated with Parliament in some way and the guy (who was familiar with the gimmick) kayfabed the DJ and said "Oh yes, Lord Hayes was a distinguished member of our House of Commons for many years". The DJ was dumbfounded by this. This is also my favorite kayfabe story because a guy totally unaffiliated with the business did it.

George Cannon had a great run as a manager in the Deroit/Midwest area. A friend of mine (who was heading to a wrestling show at Hara Arena in Dayton) spotted Cannon sleeping in the back of a car heading to the show. George was using as a blanket his famed jacket that said of the back "CANNON - I AM RIGHT"
