Algorithms are often hidden, but they are very much present in our daily lives. If you order a pizza using an app, join an online dating site or a search engine, they are doing something for you. Sam and Neil discuss maths and teach you related vocabulary.

I wish all You Tube teachers a Merry Christmas, full of light, love and joy. May we live life normally in 2022. May God give us wisdom to face this pandemic. Strong hug to everyone.

@childericoalencastro "I wish all You Tube teachers a Merry Christmas, full of light, love and joy. May we live life normally in 2022. May God give us wisdom to face this pandemic. Strong hug to everyone." People in Ukraine definitely weren't living life normally in 2022 unfortunately... But hey..., at least the global pandemic finally settled down...

Yes Sam, you assumed many of us wouldn't get a thing about "energy equation" or "algorithm numbers" and you are totally right. I'm inept at math besides those four basic operations. What we really learned was the new vocabulary. Algorithm is a BOGYMAN (or boogeyman in american variant) in therms of numbers but it's present in our daily life. We access internet and they're always there, tons and tons of advertisement related to things that we typed only once in google search. That's capitalism, trying to makes buy more and more. Bye bye!!!

My summary while listening The topic is about algorithms which has increasingly become common in our daily lives. We can easily find them on social media when a set of mathematical instructions would suggest our favorite songs or interesting video based on our past searches. According to Ramesh Srinivasan, a professor, algorithms actually mean a set of instructions are used to answer questions or problems. Therefore, they’re not necessarily inscrutable or mysterious as people often think. To understand algorithms better, let’s take an example. How can we sort apples in an orchard by size? It would be challenging if we collected all apples and started sorting all of them. It’s much more straightforward when we pick apples in just one tree and sort them into small, medium and big apples. Generally speaking, algorithms provide people efficient ways to solve problems.
