That was 12 years ago. You need to look at the lens of that time. The consensus was different as comedians had enjoyed unfiltered free speech in the face of special interest groups. Currently, black people gave into progressive politics and veered into critical race theory rhetoric. And have largely memory holed the context of that time. We've become sensitive prudes.

@@tukos7370 Not sure how old you are, but I have been on this blue marble for a good bit of time, and there was never a time period in my lifetime were it was acceptable for white people to say that word casually to black people. Politics has nothing to do with it. Especially in the 80s everyone, black white and other knew if you said that word around a black person it was customary, expected, and understood that if you were a white person you were getting your eye dotted. GTFOH with that CRT talk...it's obvious you don't know what it is, because it doesn't even fall into this conversation. That word just holds a lot of pain and history in it, and the fact of the matter is any white person with even an elementary level of history knowledge should have no desire to ever want to say that word, unless they were doing so purposely in malice.

I said the same thing about Chappelle when Pierre the comedian was on VladTV talking about him. Then Pierre came into the comment section and started arguing with me. I've been following Dave Chappelle since 1993 when he was doing HBO specials, just like Ali Siddiq said. No black people were following him back then. His style of humor was very Seinfeld-like, dry and witty... which is right up my alley. The folks like their comedy to be brash, loud and in your face.. That Pierre cat thought I was dissin' our people, but I was speaking truth. It what it is. They didn't get on him, until The Chappelle Show, because his comedy became more outlandish then.

This was great dialogue. Great points with conflict transition and resolve. Salute. Glad you shared the Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and the others. Chris Rock was still making a point. “Sometimes n*gas ain’t black. They do sh*t they shouldn’t.” And those guys proved it by saying it (even on accident. which also proves the power of ANYONE saying it around ANYONE who should not say it). But Chis was the catalyst that sparked the fire and did nothing to stop the flame. Jerry did. He was in a world he didn’t agree with. He would have let Chris slide and probably black men who say it in his presence, yet it is his prerogative not to ever say it, not even on accident, for any amount of money, nor agree with non black people using it. I respect that for sure. And hopefully he can help Chris see why he should consider make it his prerogative not to use it so publicly either. HOWEVER, as Ali said, “he is saying what black people say when no one else is around.” That’s what he does. He doesn’t tell white people to say it, they just do. … wonder why he doesn’t tell them not to? I can see why that clip was described so unpleasant. Great job to the whole podcast crew, guest, and supporters 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Them jokes was written by the predominantly wyte Oscar writing staff. Chris was just the kewn they used to deliver the embarrassment they wanted Will and Jada to endure. No Oscar recipient has ever been roasted on the night of their Oscar acceptance. It's always accolades and renown heaped on their names at that moment. Ask yourself. Why was Will and Jada the exception to the rule? Why was Will and Jada roasted when everyone else was applauded? Chris got slapped for being a pawn. Plain and simple. Wytes love to use not only Chris, but Whoopie Goldberg and Hannibal Buress as well as tools to tare down other black folks and hide behind it being a joke to do it.

Then, to her horror, saw that I had been right there bussing a table next to her. She thought I had heard her (I hadn't; she snitched on herself) and - get this - had the absolute nerve to look me in the eye and use that Chris Rock's "Black People vs. N*ggers" bit as an excuse for why it was okay that she said it. Chris Rock did hella damage with that bit. He let nonblacks and ESPECIALLY white people get way too close and comfortable with that.

"Less blacker"? Chris Rock became famous from a TV show called Saturday Night Live, just like Eddie Murphy. He's not from the so called "chitlin" circuit. And neither is Godfrey. They're all NYC comics which is its own universe.

@@agthaog1986 He 1000% became famous from SNL. He was a standout from his cohort. My point about Rock, Murphy, and Godfrey is that none of them could be considered "less black" when they weren't "black" to begin with. They're all mainstream comics who happen to be black. Same with Chappelle. His black audience comes from Chappelle Show, not his standup nor movie appearances.

Louis....saying the word doesn't make what everyone was talking about funnier. It did not accelerate the joke, if anything is slowed it down. Just b/c u live in a world that it can be forgiven for the sake of humor, doesn't mean you should use and it doesn't mean in you using it, it makes the joke funnier or even appropriately complements the current joke being told. I can see Chris laughing beforehand and then being caught in a hard place to have to check Louis and stop the laughter. Unfortunately, if you don't check it, pple will continue to do the same thing, spewing that word when it's not appropriate

This is generational. Look at comedies from the time this interview came out and it wouldn't have been a big deal. Trump made people aware of racial allegiance. The Black people vs N***** bit was said by black people. As Ali said we say that shit all the time. I won't date a bus driver, passport bros, or the discussion of hood people gaining a claim is all the same conversation.

They did the same thing Chris did. They're talking about black business in front of white people. Why do we continue to hold ourselves to a different standard? Rock is an artist. A comedian before anything else. His unique way of thought and expression is what makes him one of the goats. Do you think any other black comedian would have these other white superstars let down their guard to share their honest thoughts? We got to praise all of us that practice in The variety of social arenas in America so we can share the information that's gained, not condemn and criticize the technique. No one can be a better Chris Rock than Chris Rock. Respect.

When you look through annals of comedy greats Chris Rock, is definitely listed in that no question. What through me off about Chris Rock, is him allowing another comic to use the N-Word and not halt him or check on the issue. Being that Chris Rock, to me... has always had a presence of being pro-black. That's just my perception of the situation.

Chris grew up differently. This is very common for black kids who grew up in a predominant white school and/or community. Doesn't mean they don't need to invited to the cookout. Means there's some issues from traumatic experience that shaped them, thats still effecting them. Love them where they're at, learn to understand the root of the "nonsense/dysfunction" and correct them. Black isn't limited to experiences and/or opinions we share, it's limitless. Correction is another form of love.
