How ironic that they titled this video as “Alia Bhatt breaks down....” when she said that she didn’t want the media to say like Oh. Alia cries...

Shouldn't the title be 'Shaheen Bhatt opens up about her battle with depression'? It's wonderful that Aalia is supporting Shaheen, but would've loved for the focus to remain on Shaheen as this is HER story, not Aalia's.

A very young girl was trying to ask a question but unfortunately used the wrong word "Criticism", could be because of less exhaustive English vocabulary. Barkha shut her down so badly. Maybe if we had listened to her patiently, her question might have had made sense, maybe better than other generic questions. We are talking about depression which builds up slowly. (Shaheen was asked to be out of the frame and that affected her at so many levels). Barkha shushed that girl in public. We do not know what kind of effect that is going to have on that girl. She might feel afraid to speak up again in public. She may become super conscious of her English Skills. Her peers may make fun of her when goes back to school or college. I just hope that if something happens to her as what happened to shaheen, she gets a stage to share her story.

The story is about Shaheen not Alia. The way video has been captioned is itself quite offending.

So wonderful to see Alia being visibly supportive of her sister's mental health journey. Meaningful social connections are very important when one is going through any illness be it depression, anxiety or something else.

Shaheen talks so well. Came here to watch just 2 minutes of this but ended up watching the whole video of 40+ minutes.

Six minutes into this video and I'm already crying. Kudos to shaheen for writing about it and alia for literally being so emotionally real about it as well.

As someone who’s going through depression as well, i just want to applaud her for saying it as it is and not sugarcoating it at all. And hats off to her family for hearing her and always being there for her. I am def going to buy the book and read it. I cried through the whole interview and now I am a mess but crying really made me feel better

The host is super unprofessional . She doesn’t slow them to finish their sentence and she tries to control the whole conversation. The purpose of inviting people is to allow them talk... and if they say something she tries to make it sound the way she wants it to sound

I see realness in Aliya's emotions. She is just so real in comparison to so many other actresses. Hats off to her.

37:50 Oh really, Barkha!? Audience can completely understand that you are running out of time but you can't be rude,for God's sake. Most people go through anxiety and stuff coz they weren't treated properly by others at some point of their lives. So you say you can empathise with Shaleen on one side,and on the other side you behave like this? Not cool.

Alia herself said that she doesn't want her shedding tears become the focus of the discussion. Still they put such title to the video.

I started tearing up seeing alia cry . Reminds me of my mom crying when i was depressed. Alia saying that ' there's always something new to learn because depressed person suffers everyday ' helped me so much . Because i used go to therapists, feel better that day have my questions answered, and the following I'd have new questions and concerns and get depressed again. So i stopped going to therapy.

Alia is so down to earth.So pure hearted.

15:10 - 15:14 “Being depressed is very hard but loving someone who is depressed is equally hard.” I have so much love & respect for Shaheen. She truly is a diamond and I’m so glad that throughout her tough journey she had someone like Alia beside her. Also can Barkha shut up and listen to people until the end for once?

The saddest thing about this show is, that young girl was left embarrassed. The instance may turn her under confident because she was behaved that way in public. Host could handle her compassionately.

I'm extremely proud of Shaheen. I have been in Alia's position where I thought my cousin was one the most special person in my whole family and I had no idea that he didn't think the same way. I know exactly what she meant when she said that it broke her heart when she found out about that, I felt exactly the same.

People who have suffered depression only know the pain and others can not understand it.

I feel bad for the young girl who was trying to ask a question and barkha just shut her out saying they were not discussing criticism...... May be she just used the wrong word.. there was no reason for barkha to behave so rudely towards her in front of so many people.... I hope this incident doesn't affect her the way the photographer's behavior affected Shaheen.

I self suffering with ocd + depression, it feels dying.. And after watching this interview i hve got so much courage and positivity. Kudos to shaheen for bringing out her emotions so beautifully, i will definitely read this book

I think the scariest think about depression is that people often end their lives because of this. What’s also sad is that sometimes you may never know if someone is depressed or unhappy. Please be kind to all!

Awwww this interview was so emotional.kuddos to her for bringing her story foreword and encouraging and motivating everyone who is dealing with depression to not feel alone and to know that it’s okay to seek help and see a therapist . It takes a lot of courage to talk about things that you make you feel miserable every now and then, I just wanted to say that you are doing a great job. You inspire me to be stronger. Can't hold back my tears...i hv lived with depression all my life....lost my mother at the age of 2...growing up with a step mother and sisters...i hv felt lonely and depressed always...when shaheen admits to the fact that she attempted suicide at the age of 17...i felt Alia's pain...like "sis how could you even think of going away from me" .... its very painful to live with depression...people will judge you instead of trying to understand you...

I have read the book online on kindle some months back ... I think I hv nvr been to depression but in many points I cud relate myself to those situations.. I felt like she is telling my story or my feelings in many lines in her book... And it made me cry ...

I always wondered why people are suicidal or why they just give up on life like that but when depression and anxiety really hit me I could relate to those. It's easy to call out oh he's rich has a good job or oh she's a celeb or a member of the royal family everyone has their own issues and I feel it should be out to the young ones and should be given at least one class a week on health and well-being kids should know it's okay to feel low it's okay to fail it's okay to be yourself... When I was in school I was captivated by this whole family and relatives pressure that you always have to win.... People need to understand that not everyone is same after all it's a human being and each will work in their own way they aren't horses of a racecourse to always win.... mental health is a big issue and so many people aren't aware of it.....

Brave enough to speak about it. I suffered from depression back in 2016 and didnt even knew what it was. Luckily recovered from it. Please check with a psychlogist when you feel directionless and incomplete

The title is so demeaning and cheap! This is a complete talk about how sidelining can hurt someone so much. And the very title of this is about Alia. How shameful.

I think it was psychological that has created the chemical that is now part of your DNA. The photographer may not have meant it but we have to accept we Indians are the most racist people that exist when it comes to color, shape and size and in making comparisons. Our competition is very often not a healthy one.

I have attended this seminaar n I just loved it the way Shaheen spoke about her journey where she lived her depression when a person nowhere found him or herself she wrote a book I hope each n every one should come up even I have gone through and still going but from such people you get inspiration and courage to fight against our depression...

The first words which Shaheen gets to speak are when Alia stops to drink some water after about 5 minutes of Alia telling how she doesn't think that Shaheen should feel outshadowed by her because she is the most brilliant person in the family. The irony makes me hysterical. Also, the title of this video is just the icing on the cake.

I always thought Alia was a bimbo and very privileged but seeing her break down when she heard Shaheen talking about her struggles with depression was sad. As someone who is going through chronic depression, I could clearly relate to Shaheen, I was crying throughout the whole video.

This lady journalist words are so annoying.

I had huge respect for Barkha Dutt since very long..but for some reason after this interview she has lost some part of it.

Kudos to Shaheen You are blessed. Being in the situation, I empathize with Shaheen completely. But the way Alia says it is understanding and listening and picking up cues and being sensitive, I wish every person has someone like her.

I wish this segment had a different host. I was so engaged throughout when the sisters were talking but I didn't like the tone of the host. Other than that, the conversation was beautiful! Shaheen is beautiful, inside-out. It takes more than bravery and courage to do what she did. It's a reach and call for meaning. It takes heart to write your own story - it's more than just bravery. It's much deeper than that. And now, whenever and every time I would see Alia Bhatt, whom I admire, I would also think of Shaheen, and hope that she's doing good.

I teared up as the younger sister too, my sister recently told me she doesn't feel pretty and prone to rejection. I just think of ways to help her, I love her so much. Power to everyone who's battling with this terrible terrible state of mind.

I can so relate to this on so many levels.. my brother was diagnosed with depression n me with anxiety.. we both are on prescribed medication.. its chronic for both of us.. its everyday struggle fr us.. we always get the look ki inko kya tension hai.. they are so well off..my mum experienced the same emotions i did her entire life.. she lived a very miserable unhappy life, left this world a very sad person.. my father did his best to help her but she was so against getting her self assessed.. sad society norms ki main pagal nahi.. but now i know she had it n we inherited it from her somewhere.. guys u feel down, sad gloomy for a long time without reason please get yourself diagnosed..

In India if a young woman talks about depression,most people start commenting that it may be because of a breakup or boyfriend.The worst thing is when people tell you to "get over it" or say it's "attention wh@ring".

Till the time I went through it, I couldn't empathize with people suffering from it. After it I know how we cannot know what someone is going through, and therefore must be always kind to every living being

I'm so grateful to Shahin and you Barkha, for doing this.. I'm a depression surviver myself... I'm doing extremely well since last four years, I'm completely off medication( thanks to good diet, exercise and most importantly my family) but some days are just too hard and then I come back to this conversation on those days.. my battle always starts feeling like a cake walk then and I feel completely capable of overcoming everything.
