Back then it was considered unsightly for men to display emotions in public as it was seen as a weakness. Since Aegon is an absolute mess, they didn't want the people to see their King in such a state as it could weaken their efforts to defeat the Blacks. Crying and mourning was 'the woman's domain'. Through the women's tears, the people could see how much the royal family was devastated. Yeah it sure is a s*itty thing to do, but that's the way things were.

Being on the autistic spectrum, I could immediately recognize her sensorial overload from the very moment she looked up to the smallfolk on the stone bridge. The grief and trauma following the assassination, the smallfolk cursing her sister-in-law and half-sister, the carriage getting stuck at the worst possible moment, and the crowd trying to touch her. That was so relatable.
@blahblahblah984425 күн бұрын

@yevgeniyaleshchenko849Ай бұрын
Can be, OR it can be a panic attack (looks more like it tbh), OR this can be her effect of her trauma OR something else OR all of that. I have clinical depression and when it gets REALLY bad I can also have a sort of ''sensory overload'' if I'm outside when even environment itself seems like it's pushing on me... So it can be anything or just visual representation of her being both ''special'' AND traumatized or wanting to be left alone with her grief. Maybe showrunners didn't even put much thought into it and didn't really want to ''represent'' any disorder or group of people at all.
@doombuddie7968Ай бұрын
I think they make it pretty clear that she’s got some neurodivergence going on, and I think that also adds to the humiliation of the situation. She’s both in grief and disabled, so she’s twice as vulnerable. Which makes her being pushed out to be a spectacle by her family so disgusting; that she was not spared from this act but her brother/husband was (because he was male). Her discomfort in this situation is probably being read as grief by the crowd, but we as the audience knows theres something else going on. The greens are exploiting her. Shes a tragic character; special needs, misunderstood, and is cornered because of her gender and title to “perform”. She wasn’t written this way in the books, but I think its a loving and interesting change by the writers. Fabulous actress too.

I truly believe that Heleana Targaryen was a mild functioning autistic person as well as a prophet. It is just her mannerisms and her inability to handle social interactions or even her emotions. Phia does such an amazing job with this character.
@Unownshipper24 күн бұрын
Anyone who knows the signs or behavioral characteristics of a person with a form of Autism can clearly see them interwoven into Phia Saban’s depiction of Helaena. Sensitivity to normal stimuli, avoiding eye contact, discomfort with being touched, fixated interest or knowledge of specific and narrow topics (in her case, insects and arachnids), etc. Helaena has demonstrated all of these and more. It’s a clever and poignant move to code Helaena’s status as a prophetic “Dragon Dreamer” via the recognizable tropes of neurodivergence like Autism. It explains the struggles she experiences and the misunderstanding people from the past (and present) have in relating to her.

Would you be so eager to have people touch you after witnessing a loved one get decapitated? 3) She doesn't like being touched in general, but now it's going into overdrive mode because of the crowd. It's implied she is autistic, and a known feature for autistic people is they don't like to be touched or be in crowds. 4) It's also implied she was having a vision during the procession; possibly the fall of House Targaryen. Damn shame how Helaena goes out. If I recall, she jumped into the spiked moat of maegor’s holdfast. I believe aegon III’s wife died the same way, but it’s believed she was thrown.

But no one cares that Aemond killed Lucerys.
@TimberlakeTigerGirl17 күн бұрын
Aemond made it sound like Luke engaged him in combat and so died a warrior's death. As opposed to a little boy being beheaded in his cot.

People very much cared Aemond in the histories is remembered as a sadist who murdered his innocent nephew

That is the whole point. They did the brutal dramatic parade to cause a scene. So their dead child get more sympathy.

This whole thing is Halaena's fault. She knew it was coming and all she did to prepare was make that shroud and make cryptic comments.

They made her character on a spectrum so that's why she speaks on riddles

I doubt her dreams show her exactly how an event will occur and at what time…This is such a weird comment.

Even if she told people 'I'm having visions of my son getting killed', no one would believe her because they thought she was crazy.
