It is fitting that Jay Shetty’s first-ever audio-only podcast would be with someone whose voice is so well known around the world. In this episode, Jay talks with talented artist, Alicia Keys. Long known for her soulful and award-winning music, Keys recently became an author with the release of her new book.
Listen to the entire episode to discover how Keys learned to embrace the power of the word no while at the same time saying yes to all of life’s blessings. Text Jay Shetty 310-997-4177

This morning I saw my dad talk to his reflection in the mirror. He said "you strong handsome beautiful man, with a beautiful family.. One day you will buy your family a beautiful house and become what you deserve to be. I am smart, successful and happy. I love you". First I laughed at him a bit, but then I realized these are actually the words that is the hardest to hear and say. But the words are so important to be said and heard.🌻

This is beautiful. Speaking on my own journey, I personally believe that it was so hard to say 'no' because I was practicing being nice instead of being kind. When I think of the word 'nice' I think of how it feels temporary (it feels good in the moment), people pleasing, no boundaries because you are too afraid to let someone down (saying no) vs being kind which is more stern, it has boundaries, it comes from a place of being genuine and caring because you are aware of the other persons' feelings and still understanding towards your own which is the most selfless thing to do when you don't feel the need to force yourself to be a facade instead of authentically you. Thank you guys for sharing this amazing conversation though!! :)

There’s a shame around financial abundance, but I now know that, it’s a projection of the self, how I see it in others, I will see in myself. If I trash wealth or wealthy people, I will strive to get ‘just enough’ to avoid being shamed/trashed... and vice versa.

I want to answer the question which is at 16:29-16:32. I think it was because we were so pure without extra knowledge instead of wisdom and also fearless with full of gifted imagination without being taught to be careful out of others' own lessons which were experienced or not. When I recall back and see them closer, most of the cases were not really serving me. As we grow up, having the maturity to take the responsibility for our own lives, we can make the choice. Love who we originally are with the non-aging soul and embrace the beauty of growth with the intellectual mind to make the impact with the stronger physical body.
