The reason the Fox intro works so well is because the music is something we have all heard countless times. It's engrained in our brains. So when the note near the end keeps playing it grabs our attention. Our brain says "That's not how that note should be played". Gives the sense that something isn't right.

I vividly remember seeing this in the theater. When the opening Fox fanfare slows down and starts distorting, it was incredibly unsettling. I commented worthily elsewhere on them. So this film was anticipated. Overall the film was disappointing but, the opening sequence was memorable with the special effects on the big screen very very cool and memorable.The death of Newt and Hicks was disappointing. And I do recall in disbelief how the face hugger managed to slip on the Sulaco. Maybe, in retrospect, it wasn’t a horrendous movie, but the spark started to dim after this.

What really annoys me is just how lazy this egg is written into the movie, I see so many problems here that always annoyed me. 1. The egg is in a very visible spot. OK, I don't know where this is on the ship exactly, but it must be very close to or in the hangar, again very visible. 2. Why have the filmmakers decided to put it literally on the ceiling??? Makes no sense. No sense. An egg does not move itself. It is so weird that it is positioned upside down. 3. Ripley would make sure there is nothing left of xeno origin after encountering the Queen and after all the experience she made. I am sure of it. How would I have done it, if an egg must have been on the sulaco? Either she stuck it on the dropship where she lurked before or she dropped it in these maintenance shafts where newt has hidden from her. Just a place that is not so visible. BTW, I think alien 3 was a decent movie.
@TomAS-wm5mn2 жыл бұрын
suppose to be above the cryo tubes i think, but it wasn't there when they went to sleep. my only answers is a company ship, (same one later in the movie that Wayland was on) intercepted and boarded the Sulaco and planted the egg there, for it too open and infect one of the crew to kill off the survivors and make it look like an accident, a coverup. to keep them quiet of the events of aliens. or to try to make more aliens to get as bio weapons, though the creatures acid caused a electrical fire to jettison them them in an EEV, and crash on the prison planet, the company, get information from the sulaco of a queen being implanted in Ripley, so they change course of their ship to the prison planet to retrieve ripley and the queen. either that, or it was all a nightmare of Ripley in hyper sleep, explaining the mysterious appearance of the egg etc, meaning no egg was ever there. and the survivors are still alive.

@1UpJohn5 жыл бұрын
Well, the audience was given the hint in the opening but Ripley and everyone on Fury 161 didn't know.
@Dustie19845 жыл бұрын
Except it's Newt's crytube that's shown cracking, not Ripley's, regardless of that last shot of Ripley's tube - it's rather brief and if you don't watch closely you can actually miss the broken glass. In this final theatrical version of the film the intention was to fool the audience with these shots into thinking it's Newt who has an alien inside her, which is supposed to create tension and fear in the autopsy of Newt scene (you expect them to find an embryo inside her) and create interest in the story (you want to watch and see who really has it, even if you're guessing). This was a rather weak attempt at saving the film's loose plot with editing. Originally there was supposed to be another/different facehugger, a "super facehugger", carrying either two embryos (infecting both Newt and Ripley) or an embryo which could escape from a dying host's body (Newt after drowning). It's only the latter option which would fit in the film's final version, but it's an idea that was presented in an Alien3 comic book, and is never hinted upon in the film.

Yes, there was a system in place that constantly checked the vital sign of those in the cryotubes. The x-ray scan you mentioned shows the Super Facehugger on Ripley's face.
