A unique and surprising journey of an international multifaceted artist and hyperpolyglot who shares formative experiences and perspectives, both growing up in a highly multicultural environment and later becoming an immigrant himself. We learn that cultural curiosity, historical overview, and empathy help us reduce instincts of xenophobia and allow us to embrace and appreciate the positive contributions that immigrants bring on an economic and cultural level Aaron Smith Henrikson is a multifaceted artist raised in Venice Beach, California and grew up traveling the world, studying in many countries.
His unusual academic, personal, and professional path has led him to work on the world's most exclusive runway shows in the NYC, London, Milan, and Paris circuit, consulting and representing major cosmetic companies such as Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana Cosmetics, designing iconic looks, and becoming the principal makeup artist for Madonna over the last decade.
Aaron lives his life with a vibrant creativity that transmits far beyond his specialization in makeup. He lives life in outspoken technicolor, most notable in his custom fashion designs, and colorful social media presence as @visionaaron.
Aaron studied Linguistics at Yale University and Communication Sciences at the University of Bologna. Aaron has made Italy his home base for more than half his life and now divides his time between Italy and Portugal when he is not traveling the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

The best lesson I got from this speech has been how easy is to fall down in the idea that something different could also be something bad. Fear is a stronger feeling than curiosity, and this is totally wrong. Curiosity doesn't kill the cat in this case, it just helps to be available to know each other, and it will be an amazing discovery. thanks a lot Aaron for your words.

Aaron, I just wanted to say that I have been eagerly waiting to see the video you mentioned some time ago, where you appear! It's been on my mind, and I haven't forgotten about it. The message of alien invasion as an antidote to xenophobia is truly intriguing, and I love the way you explore that concept. I remember our conversations about our diverse high school experiences, and it made me appreciate the richness of those moments. Interestingly, I often feel like an alien myself, and it's amusing to know that my middle name, Cheyenne, actually translates to "alien." Life's little connections, right? I must commend you on your exploration of language and communication in the video. It's remarkable to witness how these elements have shaped your journey. Personally, I also have a fond interest in different alphabets and enjoy delving into various languages. My family's Italian heritage is like you described! From my Italian grandfather with red hair and blue eyes to my mom with blonde hair and blue eyes, it's amazing to see the various kinds of people you've encountered in your life. Now, let me just say, your outfit in the video is just perfect! The way you combined the skirt with the suit-like top is simply brilliant. You have a keen sense of style! Aaron, I'm genuinely thrilled that you took on this project, and I have to say, you did a fantastic job with it. Your use of creative examples and choice of words is superb. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, and it left a lasting impression on me. Keep up the excellent work, and I'm looking forward to more of your engaging and thought-provoking content in the future! Well done, my friend!

What an honor to be able to give this talk in Italy. It's more important than ever as the current political climate has used fear mongering of immigrants to propel Neo-Fascists into power.

the only solution is to join the discussion on right wing media, not with facts but with questions and empathy.
