Fede Alvarez is a HUGE fan of the Alien franchise. Some months ago, he posted on Twitter a picture of his collection of Alien comics. THAT is what has me excited for this movie. It's my belief that if Hollywood wants to keep making movies set in popular franchises, then they should start taking inspiration from the franchise's countless comics and novels. They NEVER get any attention, even if they are really good. I'd love it if a writer of an Alien comic or novel was hired to write the script for an Alien movie. Same with Terminator and Predator.

Alien Romulus is the perfect example that the problem with the Alien Franchise was not Ridley Scott ( who was onto something had FOX not mucked it up ), it was freakin 20th Century Fox, that moviewise hasn't got it right since Alien 3 ( aside some good ideas from the movies' directors ), i really wish these new guys handling the franchise the best, and that they do manage to get Scott, and even Cameron back and get them to make something really interesting with more freedom, and make the Alien Franchise more diverse, with different project suiting different creators. This way we could really have a more fleshed out universe, and more material to work with...

This is like Alien , Aliens , Alien 3 and Alien Isolation all in one movie.

Honestly...I don't get it. It just looks like Alien again, I feel like I've seen this movie. Why do we need another movie of a crew on a spaceship getting murdered by Xenomorphs? It's the same fucking thing. It's Alien with more than one Xeno without the Colonial Marine action of Aliens. I want something different from this God damn franchise already. There's so many cool books and comics to take inspiration from. There's even ones set on planets in medieval era's, how freaking cool would it be to be watching medieval knights fight a Xenomorph? I am so over the "evil corporation tries to turn Xenomorphs in to weapons" thing. Stop it. We've been there. A hundred times already.

It only took me like many decades but I just realized the way the original alien logo appears in parts is like a metaphor for how the alien develops one part at a time.

Seems like the first half is Humans vs Facehuggers. Which is (shockingly) a new take.

Mr.H thinks the alien in this one is the OG "Big Guy" from ALIEN. He gets onto the station via the meteorite that can be seen entering the airlock int the trailer. If you look closely it's made of the same resin hives are made. All Xenomorph's can produce this resin so in theory "Big Guy" could encase itself in it to survive in space creating the very meteorite we could see.

How easy it is to just dangle some memberberries, copy the scenes from original one to one and rake profit.

I encourage everyone not to pre book cinema tickets until real reviews have come out. This does look great but I don’t trust Hollywood anymore

The shining stomach sucks. It´s WAY more horrifying when you can´t see the alien inside a body but you know it´s there.

Someone on the production crew remembered how cool the old Dark Horse comics were. The facehugger chase was inspired by Aliens: Berserker. Hope this doesn't suck, unlike Covenant.

Hearing the audible on that proximity scanner gave me goosebumps. Hoping for a good amount of jump scares and excellant visual set pieces.

Alien used to be made by visionary, relatively inexperienced directors. It was Ridley Scott’s 2nd film, Jim Cameron’s 2nd film, David Fincher’s first or second film. Obviously, the Fincher one didn’t work, but there was crazy studio interference as everybody knows. Right director, wrong executives. It had potential. Resurrection sucked. I don’t know who said, let’s get the guy that made Amelie!! I mean, I like Amelie, but Jesus… Not a great fit. Then, they brought back Ridley… Visually impressive as always, but the dude was at a time in his life when he wanted to explore legacy and mortality and what it means to be human… Basically, he wanted to make a different film. But now… We’re getting back to basics. Hot director. Horror based story. I’m excited.

I just came back from watching Deadpool and Wolverine, and they showed the Alien final trailer before the movie, and the premiere date (Aug 16). I was hooked, I'm watching this on Aug 16

Alvarez' "Evil Dead" is quite underestimated. I dare to say that is one of my favorite "Evil Dead" flicks. High hopes for this one. In theaters for sure...

The ship hallways look exactly like Alien Isolation more than anything, which is great

It looks like a teenage slasher flick set in space. And after the terrible mess that was Covenant and Prometheus, forgive me if I'm not overly excited about Romulus.

The creative idea to implement a device that allows the audience to SEE the alien larvae BEAT ITS FUCKING HEAD AGAINST THE INSIDE OF YOUR FUCKING CHEST…. Genius. The creative decision to put the camera right up next to the characters cheek and showing the facehugger forcing its proboscis into the character’s open, gagging mouth…. Sick Genius. An alien shedding/molting right before our eyes… incredible. The director is really giving us shit we’ve never had the opportunity to see before!

Cinemark had released their Alien head locally on Sunday. Went in on Monday thinking they would have enough left over. Was told they sold out by noon on Sunday, lines that went clear out the door. Me to the fans and scalpers who bought them all. 4:16

So it’s hard to tell, but I think she shoots the alien in zero gravity, the alien explodes into floating clumps of acid and she’s floating, uncontrollably towards the acid in the second to last shot… Holy shit! That is brilliant.

Oh yeah! Can't wait! Also love how they brought back the original ALIEN title fade in. Woot!!

This trailer is on par with the original movies' trailer. It's utterly terrifying and gives no context what so ever. The part with "In Space, No On Can Hear You... *utter silence*". That has to be one of the scariest things I have ever seen alongside with that imagery. Omg I got hyped from this

Another important detail I think they aren’t hitting on is the director has already said that he is focusing the movie to be almost entirely on practical effects

the alien at the end looks like the same animatronic from AvP with a different head scupt. It's the same company. I always hated the way that particular animatronic moved, it's very choppy.

I wanted prometheus/covenant sequel, David was the only character that was comparable or even better than those from the ogs. This looks like its gonna be visual/shock driven, but maybe it will have proper storyline, good characters and some more alien lore.

I had the same reaction. So hyped. One of the reasons why I love Joe's reviews. Aliens is also my favorite movie of all time, and I am so excited for this. Deadpool and Alien Romulus are the only 2 films I look forward to seeing this year
