The VHS touch is a beautiful throwback to childhood days for a lot of us here I imagine. Atmos is on point and even the visuals with shitty VHS quality look fantastic.

I love how this clip is not a spoiler because we know the crew does this to get to the station. And we get a glimpse of the establishment among each other. Plus, everything looks just so good!

Among All the marketing campaings, Alien Romulus did the most Smart, respectfull and coolest one.

The Alien franchise, done right, is all about the right atmosphere as you watch it. Not just the horror but just as much the sci-fi. And this clip alone captures the similar sci-fi atmosphere as the first 2 films. That it takes so much time, without feeling slow, to show us their ship, how it starts, how it operates, & through that we right away get tiny character traits from several of them as well - so very clever & skilled story telling! And once they get into space - my goodness! I grew up with VHS, trust me, this is nostalgia! And the thing is; if a film of this kind is done right, that has so much visual effects of all kinds, great score etc, & not even the VHS quality can kill the mode - then it IS working!

The Audio Tone is done really well. They did say if it can be done with practical effects it was done that way. Legendary film incoming.

I really miss the close-up mechanical details of space ships lifting off or landing. All the spacecraft in blockbuster movies seem to fly around as if they have the weight of a miniature plastic toy.

As a 90's Kid i used to rent alot of Horror/Sci-fi flims on VHS, this takes me back to the first time i seen Alien/Aliens at home!

Feels like there's also a throwback aspect to the original film's character interactions being more grounded and believable. Even the guy messing about during the ascent wasn't done in the modern cringey way - like he's that "space trucker" character who's just trying to relieve the boredom doing a job he's done 1000 times by showing off the the noobs.

Promoting your new film with a vhs aesthetic 80s vibes speaks a tone of affection to me . Fede for sure is a real Alien fan and I’m sure he is gonna deliver to the maximum. I simply can not wait !!

If you know your Ailen history you'll realise the guy smoking is a James Remar Nod to his demise in his casting in the Aliens movie and re cast.

Actually the best thing I got from this sequence is that the acting and chemistry, just from the bit we saw between the characters seems pretty natural and genuine without some forced bullshit. That was my main worry.

Yeah people really forget or don’t realise how bad VHS was especially if it was a well watched video. DVDs were such a game changer but the nostalgia of a solid VHS and putting it into a video player is second to none.

Can’t wait! It will be awesome! Definitely remember VHS. At the age of 48 I can definitely say VHS used to be my jam. Many many moons ago.

I've watched this scene about 10 times already, and every time I notice something new and wonderful, which confirms the perfection of this film, where every detail is really thought out. I like the scene the most when the ship starts to rise, the industrial machines are driving on the ground and some worker from the ground watches the ship take off and smokes at the same time. What a perfection in the sense of atmosphere and details. It's so random on the one hand, but adds so much to the scene. Every detail is so perfect and fits the atmosphere of the film and creates the personality of the era, and the genuine atmosphere that we have already seen in the first and in the second part in aline franchise. It seems to me that this film will be at least as good as the second part, but in its own juice, a bit in its own element, but with a completely recognizable, spooky, slightly claustrophobic and industrial environment. Never in my life I have been waiting to see film in cinema. Last time was when first Avatar came but with this, its all nostalgic….cant wait anymore.

It would be cool to make a VHS filter of sorts using parts of VCRs with one electromagnet recording while a Hall sensor reads, and have a tape just as a loop running indefinitely.

Great to see a working colony , the shots flying over , was extremely reminiscent of the marines flying over Hadleys hope , nailing both the ALIEN & ALIENS aesthetic

I know this is totally my nostalgia talking here, but seeing this in VHS quality looks good to my eye. Probably because I watched all of the original 4 Alien movies on VHS (initially), but it just 'feels' right for these scenes 🤣

I love it when people actually do things proper. It’s called genius now lol. We have truly been dumb down to work to expect in these movies these days haven’t we? The last two earlier movies had cruise that were so astronomically stupid that no one would pick those people to be on a crew to go to space lol . I wouldn’t even go camping trip.

It looks so good. And here's a thing, Alien is a Disney IP. Disney do all of their own distribution and marketing! Which means they are still capable of doing a great job. Hopefully they have made a great film to go with their marketing. I love the attention to detail. The tech fits perfectly with Alien and Aliens. Unlike the Prometheus movies. And we've even got people smoking. I always thought that smoking was a genius addition to the first two Aliens. All sci fi seemed so clean and perfect back then. Including smoking in the Alien movies really put the 70's and 80s into the future being shown to us in the first two movies. Awesome. Just please please Disney, don't have any alien pronoun jokes, don't sexualise the alien or assign gender to it.

Watched Alien last night. The detail in the sets and effects is brilliant! Romulus looks like it will be as good visually! looks good they have nailed the ships interior.

Mr. H I'm 32 and the Alien Legacy VHS box set was the first thing I ever saved up to buy as a kid. I miss those days and I would actually buy this film or a VHS adapter for my big 4k tv and watch it like this. Films to me looked much great back then. Hell even as a collectable I'd buy alien romulus on VHS

5:07 he stands and brags like Pvt Hudson in the movie Aliens while he was in the dropship. Pvt. Hudson said "We're on an express elevator to hell, going down!" (Pvt Hudson finally sat down just before the pilot made her final count-down, BTW) but these teenagers are in the express elevator to hell, and going up...I think this is a kind of connection between this and Aliens.

Well to all the youngsters, i still have and use my VHS(i have quite a big movie collection on VHS), and its handy to record movies on from tv. I am old school Nate, i still have VHS as i say, plus DVDS, Blu Rays, a SNES, PS3, Wii U, PS4, PS Vita, you cannot beat physical media(i hate streaming stuff, not for me). As for Alien Romulus, my pick for the movie i am most pumped for this year, it looks stellar.

Got nice train/tug boat vibes with the rough interior and the windshield wipers. That is a very non-glamorous shuttle! It sounded like they were surprised that it wasn't a ship, maybe the station is adrift and the colony's sensors have a low resolution? Oh, and the tracking on the VHS was uncharacteristicly good 😀

I think there's a charm to VHS, in that you can't make out all the details perfectly that really hides the imperfections in sets and CGI.

The sound affects of the ship taking off sound the same as the ships in Aliens 2

their really going all out for this movie, I want all the fans to go see this for a full support. I might go see it more than once if it's as good as it looks so far.

Can't wait for years from now when we get the digitally remastered version of this.

This film should bring a whole new generation to ALIEN. The characters look a perfect age for the start of a fresh adventure.

I'm convinced that Rain is an android as well. She says that she's seen the sun already and then jokes "in my dreams" And the fact that the xenomorph does not kill her when it looks at her up close in the official trailer. (a throwback to Alien 3 when the Alien wont kill Ripley because she has a queen inside of her.)

It looks and sounds great. The music was spot on and would have fit in the first two films great in similar situations in those films. The VHS tape is genius in a way, it is I am guessing the filmmakers way of saying they are kind of picking up the heritage of the first two films I am guessing. I hope they can pull it off. The tech of the ship looks correct as well. All the CRT screens and incandescent light globes and the switches and stuff too. Heck even the clothing feels right. I just hope Disney doesn't come in a F the whole thing up like they've managed to do with everything they've touched in the last few years.

Just awesome...something like a take of that not many movies even show...but it is stressful on crew and ship to go into space...they just nailed it...hope the rest of the movie lives up to the quality of the take of.

I feel like this is the only sequel (prequel) that has actually captured the texture and ambience of the first 2 movies. Feels very much of the same dna, whereas from 3 on it felt like "new" takes that felt separate and disconnected from the first two.
