My cousin works in the film industry and was on the set of the tv series, "Training Day." He said Bill was one of the most down to earth and humble actor. Bill actually started as a Set Dresser, so everyday he'd come onto the set, he would compliment how great the set looks. He would also chit chat with the crew members and was just a wonderful person. He was a true chameleon of an actor. He played the punk in The Terminator, Simon the car dealer in True Lies and Fred Haise in Apollo 13. It took me a while to realize these so different characters were all him.

This scene is brilliant as it depicts each character's motivation and internal head space. Vasquez wants to go back and save her buddies. Hudson wants to leave by any means necessary. Hicks and Ripley are the most calm and rational ones here though approaching the situation from different points of experience. Burke is in dollar value corporate thinking mode.

Because it was shot on film- in reality, film is beautiful and clear, we’re just so used to it being compressed and downgraded by vhs tapes. That’s why nowadays you get these brilliant 4K re-releases of these older films, because they’ve taken the original film and converted it to how it’s really supposed to look! :)

Vasquez is headstrong, Hudson breaking. Hicks is stoic. Burke feigning empathy. Ripley stressed but pragmatic. And finally Newt, who has already seen hell and is silently resigned herself to the situation. It's such a simple concept executed perfectly. Revealing character by subjecting those characters to intense change and showing that all in one scene.

Dr Evil in the first Austin Powers movie, after waking up in 1997 after being frozen for 30 years, blackmailed the world for *ONE...MILLION...DOLLARS!* and didn't understand why everyone though that was funny. I've seen this movie probably 30 or 40 times since 1986, I've always thought that Hicks admired and respected Ripley because he saw her as a soldier, but I've only lately realized it's because he saw her as a leader.

The blocking is so good. The characters move around the screen so that you can see them whenever a group shot is needed. And Burke trying to help Hudson with the First Aid kit is a nice touch to keep his character likeable as long as possible.

Michael Biehn has been one of my favorite actors since I was a kid who watched his magic as Kyle Reese in The Terminator, he carried the narrative of the whole movie and made us the viewers sitting on the edge of our seats the whole time!!! I can also say the same for Aliens! He is one helluva actor which deserves way more recognition and praise!

The sets and the lighting in this movie are incredible. The lack of CG made this movie a standout. Hard to believe the sequel to Alien would be just as good and in some ways better. From that moment on, the franchise started going downhill.

I received the official version and returned it. The Dolby Vision doesn't look good. On Vivid, it's hardly noticeable in terms of image quality, and in dark scenes, it's okay, but the colors aren't nice. You see waxy faces in the official version. That's a mistake I made myself in the beginning. That's when you use too much DNR or the wrong settings. In my latest version, I left the grain in, and even without using DNR, a lot of grain has been worked out, but fortunately, there are no waxy faces anymore. I don't need the official version for myself. Since I can create Dolby Vision myself. Dolby Atmos is not available for the moment, but I don't miss it either. Among True Lies, Aliens, and The Abyss, True Lies is the worst, and The Abyss is the best.

It's amazing. The movie is an absolute masterpiece. Everything works: the acting, the story, the tension. I watched both Avatars from Cameron and I cannot "feel" the same. Maybe I'm ageing or something but I still enjoy watching Aliens. Avatar is good but Aliens has something more. Based on the comments I read, I am happy to read I am not only one believing how good Aliens is.

You need to remember that at this point there were around 150 aliens around. It would be impossible to get back tot be hive. Most of them were later killed by the sentry guns (see the extended cut of the film) and in the final confrontation at the bunker. Although if you wish to point out a major plot hole, then you can ask why the Marines weren’t aware of the ventilator shafts above them if they have detailed blueprints of the complex.

It was probably the ONLY thing that could save his ass from his corporate overlords. The colony is a write-off, and the Marine rescue operation is likewise a total failure. The only thing that could redeem him from a disaster of such monumental proportions is if he can present Weyland-Yutani with a hitherto unknown new species. One of the most valuable things to Corporations is new and undiscovered lifeforms; life is still astronomically rare in the Alien-verse, and any that are found are quickly sampled and tested to see if they might have potential (commercial) uses. Most that we've found are still in the realm of single-celled or very basic life, like bacteria, molds, sponges and the like. At this point in the Alien-verse, the xenomorphs (and the Engineer ship) are the first signs of complex life that humanity has ever found. (Excluding the Predators here because even though according to recent canon the Yautja have been visiting Earth and occasionally interacting with humans for a long, long time, they're still rare enough that common knowledge about them is almost unheard of among humans.)

Brilliant film and actors are incredible, the 4K definition makes you feel like you’re standing right next to them. Also, after rewatching this film, I am strongly convinced that Birk was a droid, his lack of fear and empathy for the marines that were slaughtered just cast a huge suspicion that he was a company android.

The brilliance of this film works on all fronts. The balance of fear, action, and intellectual thinking and ideas in the stress of battle is just amazing. It’s in my top 50 films of all time especially in terms of back in the day flipping channels it was the stopping point. No matter what part you stumbled upon you tended to watch until the end.
