Bishop is returning to the world of Alien after the events on Fiorina "Fury" 161 in the new novel from Titan Books. For this video I have a conversation with author T.R. Napper about the new story and a wide variety of issues surrounding Alien and science fiction. The video is spoiler-free. Aliens: Bishop will be released December 5th, 2023.

Bishop is low key one of the most important characters in Aliens. Without him, there would've been no survivors of LV-426. Congrats to the author, from one fan to another!

Congratulations to Alien Theory. Mr. Napper stated that he used your channel as a main resource for this material, while researching for his book. You truly deserve that credit. I have been waist deep in all things "Alien" since my father took me to see it in the theater. I can say that your channel is something special.

My uncle was the same. I got the alien queen action figure with the pump/pneumatic inner mouth. I remember my mums face when I opened it at Christmas. 😂 But I played with that toy so much! (I think that’s why I’m such an “Aliens” fan, over any of the other movies).

This channel is the GOAT of all things Alien on KZfaq. Period. Your obvious love and passion for the subject is evident in each video. My personal favorites were your readings of The Earth War ( outstanding job and SO re-listenable! ), and your Bill Paxton tribute, that one got me choked up. But it was beautifully stated and i think represented how most people who loved his work felt. Thank you for all you hard work and continuingly putting out fresh content for us Alien fans. Cheers!

I’ve always thought of Bishop as one of the most intriguing characters in Aliens. It would have been interesting to have seen Bishop roaming the Sulaco as the crew was in hypersleep, taking care of all the ship & crews needs as David did on the Prometheus.

I remember one of the Alien audio books here on KZfaq, I don't remember which one specifically, had a story that included the character Bishop, and basically it was about his creation and the jobs or missions he was on before joining up with the Colonial Marines that we see in Aliens. I wonder if this book took that story into account or if it totally changed it?

Have listen to the book on Audible and I loved the story. What I didn’t understand is why the studio executives didn’t allowed him to write about the pheromones within the story. In the book “Aliens Infiltrator.” This scientific thesis is explored in Chapter 50 of the book. It made me wonder if they read or listen to the books of this awesome franchise. In Infiltrator the French scientists Atean develops a spray derived from Alien Pheromones and is able to escape and elude the attack of the Alien drones when they finally break loose from the mess hall. I just wish the story in the book would have been a little longer. However, I think the story line still has a lot of potential.

I think the difference in writing human characters vs Bishop is you have a basic blueprint for him and the parameters are somewhat set. Human characters you have to flesh out, make 3 dimensional, different from you, different from one another and interesting.

I have a story I want to write but at the time I asked for permission (2003), Fox literally told me to go to hell. What is the process to write for the series without being treated like trash? It feels like it's impossible to even ask for the green light, but several people I follow already have books out on the series. There's obviously a way. My problem is, I know how to write but I have no idea how to navigate the industry.

I think many fans liked the 'family' motif, ie. Hicks, Ripley, Newt, the ones who lost their own loved ones to the Beast but found each other. I like The YY chromo prison concept - but I thought it would've been cool if Newt's EEV had found its way back to a safe port, while Hicks, Bishop and Ripley w/ Alien Queen crashed on Fiorina.
