ElecHead Part 4 - don't blink, or you'll miss it. Everything that you wanted happens in this episode, but it may not happen when you expect it. Even in its end game, this game manages to keep innovating and fleshing out its already rich ideas. That's truly impressive.

**VIDEO SPOILERS BELOW** ElecHead Review, starting with what I liked: - The main mechanics were incredibly rich and expertly fleshed out. There were nearly a hundred unique consequences that stemmed from only two actions, and every consequence had its own level about discovering that interaction and nothing else. - There were TONS of aha moments scattered throughout the game, it is incredibly good at making you feel smart. - Every single level felt fun to solve. None of the solutions felt clunky to execute or overly similar to previous levels. - The difficulty ramp was smooth, starting with enjoyable easy levels and building towards head scratchers. The head scratchers only seemed easy because of how well the early levels trained you. The average time per puzzle was appropriate for puzzles that only required a single revelation to solve. - The platforming was the perfect level of difficulty, easy enough to not be a burden, but tricky enough to justify this being a puzzle platformer in the first place. - The 30 gadgets minigame was a thrilling break from the main game. It tested platforming ability and planning ahead in a different but enjoyable way. - The golden gadgets were incredibly fair to find, I LOVE an organized secret system combined with obvious visual cues for secret rooms. - It is incredibly difficult to design a good level that plays differently when you return to it with new information and abilities. This game succeeded at that on several occasions - the entire backtracking portion was glorious. - The art style was solid and extremely effective at conveying information. - The soundtrack was banging and matched the art style. - The minimalist story built the atmosphere well. - While I didn't find many in my playthrough, there are several well-hidden color palettes that require persistence or extreme thinking outside the box (see the "secret" powering off mechanic) to find. Because they are less fair, I like how optional they are. If you want a true challenge, you might enjoy hunting for those. I don't think I'll do so myself. - This game was exactly as ambitious as it needed to be. It ensured that its ideas were developed to perfection, rather than introducing several ideas that it couldn't execute well. The vast majority of video games are way too ambitious, as they overvalue ideas (which are worth next to nothing alone because every human being has ideas) and undervalue execution. What I didn't like: - The only criticism I can think of is that this game does not stand out on a conceptual level. However, I could argue this about every video game except for maybe 10. A video game does not need to reinvent the wheel to be good, and this game instead perfects a particular niche. Well done. Overall Rating: 10/10 (Flawless)

Spoilers ahead: Fun fact; He didn't get all the secrets. Infact, not only are there more pallets, but there's an entire other powerup that apparently can be obtained by getting out-of-bounds in one area and then going left. This is the Rocket Head Powerup, an optional powerup where you can keep your head in motion after throwing it - and it can be toggled etc! Tbh i only know this from another vid though, it's not at all easy to find and there don't appear to be any hints for it.

17:45 If it weren’t for this puzzle to be in the way, it would’ve been quite a nice trick/touch where that the “True” ending was always there at the start of the game. But since you would need to throw the head to be able to pass it though, you would also need the rest of the abilities to get back to the start. For a moment, I thought that it was possible to get this ending right at the start of the game, but it wouldn’t be possible to pass that section.
@alankwan6743
@alankwan6743 2 жыл бұрын
You just need the head throw. There are no other abilities except the rocket head, which is not needed. So you can come back immediately after getting the head throw and speed clear the game. But normally you won't have the clue what to do, until you see the hints beyond portal #6..

You're an amazing youtuber, man. I really appreciate your content. One of the best! Also if you liked this game, I recommend you try a game called Seedling, on Newgrounds. It's an adventure puzzle game, however short, which has a very nice sound track and plenty of Aha! moments. The sort of minimalist story telling paired with the fluidity of the game mechanics (for its time) are really awesome, and I know you'd appreciate it like I did so many years ago. I think you should try it if you're looking for games like ElecHead.

Wanted to recommend the game Temple of Snek. It's a puzzle game based around the early video game Snake, but with some metriod-vania progression elements. As you solve rooms you eat enemies, and as you eat enemies you grow longer, and as you grow longer you can solve different puzzles but must also protect your larger body from traps. While I was impressed by the scope and depth of mechanics, I do feel it left me wanting a more conclusive ending, but it currently finished with a to be continued screen. Over all its great for puzzle lovers who want a challenge and can deal with some trial and error due to timing based movement and limited camera perspectives.

I’m so mad that Tyler likes this game so much. I would give it 5/10 because it’s so bland. Play other puzzle platformers and you’ll know this isn’t anything special (Also if personally I’d rate it 3/10, but objectively I’m just gonna say it’s a 5/10)
