The cup, it’s no ordinary cup, it’s the cup of wasted time. All the time you spent wasted on that level was filled into the cup and then lost forever. It’s funny how something as ordinary as a cup on a desk can cost someone an hour of their life. But to be fair, I couldn’t figure out that puzzle from watching even without that dreaded cup

I've already played to the endgame content, including beating this level quickly (as far as I remember), and yet when Tyler got up to it, I drew a complete blank and couldn't figure out how to solve it for the life of me.

The "cup" puzzle took me forever as well, and then I finally noticed the cornerpiece could be pushed into, and it felt so nice to move on from it. Every piece of visual information is important, so be wary of the obstacles of reality!

That video title explains how I feel about this series (in regards to the concept). Glad you can agree! [Oh, did you know that the fractal at 12:42 is called a Sierpinski Carpet? I'm surprised they were able to somehow orient the tiles in such a way it caused that.] (Thanks to that one guy in the comment thread for pointing out my mistake)

For anyone actually confused about how the game makes this work: It's just an empty 3x3 room that contains 8 clones of itself. so when the clones inside it render their contents they're each rendering 8 clones, which render as just the empty room with no contents because that's where the renderer stops lol but you get the idea. Remember, there's only actually nine boxes in the level, one empty box and 8 clones of it. Just like the sponge fractal is a 3x3 square with its middle square cut out, and with its 8 side squares each replaced with [a 3x3 square with its middle square cut out, and with its 8 side squares each replaced with [...] ]. The design keeps being a fractal under a lot of his moves because the clones are kinda just like screens copying a scene. So he's just rearranging the visual arrangement of the copiers that result in the fractal appearing.

It is a Sierpinksi Carpet. "Menger Sponge" refers specifically to the 3-dimensioned version. Also, it appears at 12:42. 12:40 is something else.

@@AexisRai Thank you for the explanation. "only nine boxes in this level" There are ten or eleven. You begin play already inside a box, which makes ten. That box is within the void, so if you count the void as a box, there are eleven.

I'm impressed with myself. I thought i couldn't understand this game, but just before Tyler said he had to look it up, I noticed the solution to the puzzle. I wondered for a moment how Tyler hadn't seen it, but having heard about the cup i fully understand. So, dont worry, Tyler. Had the cup not intervened, im certain you would have had no trouble on that puzzle.

The same level that you got stuck on because of your cup, I was stuck on for an hour as well. I couldn't see it for the life of me and after completing the rest of the world I gave up and decided to try to come back to the Level with fresh eyes another day. While trying to go to sleep, I decided to give the level another shot. But I decided that the level was simple enough that I didn't really need to open the game to actually find the solution, I should be able to figure it out in my head. I'd been staring at the level for so long that the exact shape and positions of all of the pieces were engrained in my mind. Once I started trying to picture the level I thought about the shape of the green box, and that instant I realised that the walls of the green box had thickness to them, which I also immediatly realised was the solution to the level.

Hey Tyler, not sure if you knew this already but there's a keybind to change the camera view between the normal view, text view, and a third one. The third does take away some of the visual appeal but makes it a lot easier to actually see what's going on, and the keybind works even in levels with weird visual effects

4:16 While I'm here, I believe this uses the inverse of using similar sized cubes to enter a normally non-accessible cube. How I think it'd be solved Push the blue box next to the green (Not in) and push the orange into the bottom right corner, enter orange, push orange out of blue through the right, go into green and push blue away, push both boxes into goal and enter your own.

I too got stuck on that Red level at the start... TBH, I ended up having to look up the answer as I was stuck on it for a total of 6 hours across two days... There were a few more levels like that for me, so I'm interested in seeing if you ALSO get stuck on those~ Edit: ah... The cup.

you can do recursive puzzles with insception, you can create divine bridges to get cars where they need to be, you can best bosses despite bear spam, but you cant best a simple cup

It brings be great joy to see you struggle on that 5th one as well! Lol, we did exactly the same thing for that one. Since you edit out the struggling for the most part, watching you play has been rough on me psychologically because, even though I know you must have taken longer than actually shown, my brain doesn't seem to process that very easily and I still find myself shocked by how fast you solve them hahaha

0:31 What happens if you position the orange level near the exit, and the blue level above the orange level? What happens if you exit? It should get pushed out, but the orange level exits to the exact same place, so do you enter?

The block _is_ orange. It's just empty so all you see is the darker background (dark orange looks brown) If there were any solid blocks inside it, they would be very obviously orange. And even if we did call it by its background color, I'd still say that's more orange than brown.
