I mean, cmon!! This is Vince Gill's perfection of a song that he did so many years ago. It really is one of his legacy songs of many. That being said, he becomes the backup instrument and singer on this gig, because it's in absolutely more than capable hands with Alison Krauss and Union Station. The melody, patience and harmony of the whole thing is just breathtaking. It's only brief, but look at Vince at 1:16 on this video. If expressions could talk, he would be saying, "I really don't need to play my mandolin right now, because what I am hearing at the beginning of this song may be better than my original." Did I mention that his original is a masterpiece, yet somehow, Alison and Union Station raised the bar. They have a knack for doing that. Side note: Jerry Douglas' timing on the Dobro is jaw dropping.

Vince Gill is truly amazing, a good man, father, husband, musician that transcends more than country genre, the Eagles knew he was a great choice to sit in for Glen Frey. Vince's voice is simply one of the clearest most melodic and beautiful voices of any out there, and although Frey had a good voice, if the tables,were turned Glen could never replace Vince. In addition, Vince is,a,much more talented guitarist than Glenn. THANK YOU!!! And let's not forget Dan Tyminski, the guy on the left playing guitar. He did all the vocals for "Man of Constant Sorrow" in the movie "Brother, Where Art Thou". When George Clooney tried to do it and thought he'd done a good job, he listened to Dan's version, and surrendered.

I saw Alison at a Bluegrass festival in upstate New York when she was a young girl. I loved her talent then, I love her now.
