You must remember that the interior retrofit probably dates from the investment made by Etihad when it acqured 49 per cent of Alitalia in 2014. Etihad sold its stake some years later.

@@alexmcwhirter6602 If I'm not mistaken, the seats are almost the same as well as the old Etihad product. Given the current situation at the airline another retrofit might be really far away, which is a shame considering the food is so good. I feel like they'd actually be really competitive with an updated seat and IFE...

The interiors look striking, but the economy class seats in the AZ A330 are the absolute worst and most uncomfortable seats I have ever experienced. I wouldn’t even want them on a 2 hour flight, let alone 8 and a half.

Probably my most favorite Biz Class Milano - Miami.... the crew spent 9 hours + working non-stop to be gracious. Simply elegant experience. Thanks for pushing Alitalia in a positive light. I agree.

Did the very same flight last year and I too found the crews very professional and the service really polished in a kind of 'olden-days-BA', if you know what I mean. Food is always fantastic on AZ!

Good review, impressive food service. I understand that the new owners of Alitalia will be dropping 5 routes from Rome. I can only remember 2 of them. Rome-Dehli and Rome-Rio. Looks like you took this flight just in time! As always, take care and Happy Travels!

I would hope...being in Italy that the food would of an excellent quality...even in an airport lounge!! Sorry can't help you with the "breakfast dishes"...they do look good !! They always ( Alitalia) seem to be on the verge of going broke and having to be bailed out by the Government or other partner airlines so its great to see a "full service" still operating in Business Class. Great review Paul and I look forward to our next trip together !! Keep those nuts warm !!!

Nice video Paul. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos through India! Glad to hear that Alitalia are mostly good although I'm still a little uncertain about their future. People keep talking about them closing down, although they've been saying that for the last few years. I guess the Italian government might prop them up, although I'm still a little nervous about booking with them.

I'll always regret not flying Al Italia. Went to Italy on a honeymoon 2 years ago, travel agent said we should fly Lufthansa instead since "A.I. might be going bankrupt and you would have to buy new seats". Stupidly, we believed her and had to fly coach on Lufthansa instead of business class A.I.

Nice vlog !I think you should try taking the Delhi- Thiruvanthapuram Rajdhani Express which goes through the beautiful Konkan region. It is the longest Rajdhani rail route in India. It is the top class Express train in India.

Its been so long since I've caught one of these uploads early! Absolutely love so much content lately!! Love Alitalia! That lounge looks so nice, if not a little busy! The food is something that looks like it should come from a London eatery! I don't mind those seats, they look quite nice..! Have to admit.. if it's free and just because.. I'd always opt for just one champagne.. I'm not even a drinker! 😂 Fair play for mentioning to turn off roaming data, that would be awful to find out about when you get home!! That food.. again.. looked amazing! For a meal on a plane, that looks lovely, and who doesn't love to end with a hot choccy!! That amenity kit looks so well packed, and the packaging looks so well designed, very Italian! I look forward to watching your upcoming content! Can't wait to see who you travel with in the next few weeks!! :)

Hi Paul, yes I have to agree, the food is the best for any European airline. I particularly appreciate the flavours, amount and service. Great crockery and glasses. Crew are typically Italian which is with assertiveness, effectiveness and efficiency.

That appeared to be a “steam cooked chicken and basil nugget served with Cremona pickled fruit mustard, and fake tomato goat cheese ball on a sautéed baby spinach nest, followed by a fresh sliced seasonal fruit plate”. It’s on your shot of the menu under “Italian tasting board”. Don’t know if they served the Erbazzone pie item as well but it doesn’t seem like it was breakfast but rather was just a light snack menu to finish the flight. No idea what the fake tomato thing is, especially on an Italian menu! Thanks for the pleasant review.

I don’t know if you said anything about this in the video, but how was the smell? I recently flew from AMS to DEH about two months ago and the smell on the flight was absolutely awful.

Paul ... were those balls you had as a second meal stuffed with rice and/or mozzarella? If so, they are called Arancini (Rice Ball) and are usually served with red sauce. When done right, they’re absolutely delicious 👍🏻

Appreciate you visiting India. I would advise you to avoid Chennai for the time being due to acute water crisis, but other cities should be fine. Beware of monsoon rains if you go to the southwest, as that can delay flights.

Regarding the comment that the lounge was really busy in Rome? Ever been to the Swiss biz lounge "for the riff raff" in ZRH (meaning Star Alliance Gold customers) around noon time? You can't even find a seat inside that cramped space at times. Add to that that I usually only have friendly interactions with lounge staff while at ZRH the staff seems to be quite keen on dressing you down at the slightest chance. ... Hope you had/are still having a great time in India, Paul. I'd say the price was so cheap because Alitalia is desperate to fill its seats as they are hanging on by a thread, piling up more 7-figure debt day by day.
