@trendymaths24673 жыл бұрын
Cailyn Pan that’s actually not completely on pointe so don’t worry! It seemed similar to demi-pointe and a few dancers with very strong feet are able to do it. That explains it because Aliya has had years and years of ballet training and it payed off! Very impressive.
@madeline22823 жыл бұрын
She's crunching over her knuckles. As long as the floor isn't super hard and you have the balance control it's not difficult; it's a common warm up/foot stretch for dancers, though a lot of teachers hate it because they think it's bad for your feet.
@madeline22823 жыл бұрын

And who won gold? Enough said there. Aly may not have had the artistry that Aliya did but she had superior form and execution on tumbling- substantially so.
@irondragonmaiden Жыл бұрын
@@saragrant9749 Sadly it's a fun romp to look at the tumbling but not much else. Rewarding only the tumbling has incentivized gymnasts to ONLY work on the tumbling and, if we're lucky, some artistic nods here and there. That took away the artistry from the sport, which is one of the reasons it became popular in the first place

I love Aliya a lot but we have to recognize that form on her twisting passes. Comparing her to Catalina, Aliya was only 3 tenths behind Ponor which is crazy since Ponor was spot on. I do believe the judges gave Aliya extra marks because of her artistry (because Ponor had no artistry) or what do you all think?
@maia90563 жыл бұрын
She loses 3 tenths on her triple, Catalina loses 2, besides the triple twist she was great. Extra marks isn’t a thing, only deductions. However you do get deducted for lack of artistry. (Up to 0.3 I think).

I know this is old comment but sooo agree. If this were an American gymnast that's all that would be talked about, the atrocious form. Yes shes lovely in a lot of other areas but that twisting form does not get nearly the deductions it deserves.
@Andrew-pf5fj5 жыл бұрын
@D Leo Which is why she doesn't perform many twisting elements anymore. Her vault is still amazing minus the one knee bend on the second twist, she doesn't do her triple off beam anymore, and doesn't do her triple or 2.5+1/1 on floor anymore, so frankly not sure what you're complaining about.

She had a type of flair, but YES so do most of the Americans! The gap in Athleticism and difficulty is far more than the gap in artistic execution.
