Cobra Kai season 5 has dropped. We have some new characters, some returning characters who sat out season 4, and a lot of new developments for a classic line up. Cobra Kai has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the last few years and that's largely due to the amazing characters. S0 today I'm going to stop and rank the main cast from the worst to the best!

Every character was so likable and unlikable at times up until Season 5. By Season 5 nearly every main character had redeeming qualities while Terry Silver got to be an awesome villain!

My favourite is Miguel. Just fascinating to his progression from a nerdy weak kid to a strong/ tough character with alot of heart. Love the dynamic between him and Johnny especially in season 1 and 3. Going from being literally crippled to standing back up and being at the top again. His character growth is just amazing

Not just that, his personality, values and virtues and how they've changed over time to where he now is tough abd badass, has aggression he can call upon but has that sweetness and innocence that he had at the start.

I honestly think Sam's best friends Yasmine and Moon are pretty underrated, Yasmine particularly showed real character progression going from a bully in season 1 to changing her ways for the better in season 3 onwards!

I agree. I found the part when Yasmine leaves her dad's wedding to go to prom with Demetri very touching, as well as when Moon motivates Hawk at the All Valley. Some may argue they are irrelevant, but I think they should be on such lists. They should have also helped Miyagi-Fang expose Silver in the Finale for season 5.

My favorite is definitely Johnny. He’s grown the most and I love how they keep developing him further. It’s one of the things I most loved about S5 with him trying to be better as a father.

I gotta say my favorite is Hawk. There is something very relatable to flipping the script and being conflicted with decisions you have made because of that.

Johnny is definitely the best and the show was written around him perfectly to start and then given room to grow. It took him 35 years to get past one fight in high school, but once he does he I'd the best version of himself. He cares deeply about his friends and family, and actively tried to learn from his mistakes and keep the kids from making the same ones. He's lived a life of regrets and doesn't want that for his kids. His bar speech in season 2 with Tommy the other old cobras sums it up best.

I thought Terry Silver was a legitimately great villain and the best of the series. Crazy how much better they made an over the top 80’s villain. I felt his presence when he wasn’t on screen, I had anxiety wondering where he would pop up next and how he would ruin things. When he was actually on screen it was always effective. Whether it was when he was intimidating, when he was manipulating, or when he turned on the charm. It gave me the exact emotion it was going for every time.

Also Terry’s a lot smarter than so many modern day villains and his plans are actually tied together with logic, which makes it even more intriguing to see how the good guys are gonna take him down

I agree. He started out as someone who did not want any part of the karate drama, but then returned and became menacing and dangerous to a point where he wanted to mess with everyone's lives outside of karate. He reminded me of Darth Sidious and even Scarlet Witch in Multiverse of Madness.

All 20 Ranked 20 Aisha- Never seemed to make her mark on the show 19 Kyler- Good Stereotypical bully but nothing more 18 Carmen- Probably the most normal person on the show 17 Devin- Good idea for a character but not portrayed with enough ferocity by the actress 16 Anthony- Underrated in showing that not all LaRussos are noble model citizens 15 (Female Asian Sensei)- I don't know her name, but added a nice level of intimidation to the show 14 Sting Ray- Important character but incredibly frustrating for obvious reasons 13 Demetri- Solid, but didn't have anything to do this season 12 Kenny Payne- Proven to be a nice addition to the show 11 Samantha LaRusso- Felt like she was incredibly naive at times and written inconsistently 10 Amanda LaRusso- Nice to see normalcy on the show 9 Chozen- Nice S5 addition, some of the jokes were a bit flat imo 8 Tory- Only gotten better over the seasons 7 Kreese- Good, but outshone by a better villain 6 Robby Keene- Improved drastically by season 4 and continued that into 5 5 Daniel LaRusso- Best character this season other than Terry 4 Hawk- Didn't have as much to do, but probably the best arc in the show 3 Miguel- Was best in the earlier seasons but his relationship with johnny is the best in the show 2 Terry Silver- Wow, he was given the entire season as the villain and he shone, props to the actor 1 Johnny Lawrence- Consistently been the best every season, humor is unmatched in the show

Agreed. Usually the only swearing in his videos is from movie clips. It’s kind of refreshing to (mostly) be able to watch reviews of things I want to see around my kids. Other channels I have to wait until my kids are in bed.

It really speaks to the impressive writing of this show when a large majority of the characters have so many pros & cons & multi-faceted levels to their characters including most of the heroes & villains. Its amazing

Robbie has been, and probably always will be my favorite character. I know he doesn’t always do the right thing and that shows he’s flawed, and I don’t agree with everything, but see why he does everything he does. I believe he was used perfectly in every season, especially season 4, and I think he’s an amazing character. I absolutely love Robbie

Top 5 1) Miguel 2) Johnny 3) Daniel 4) Hawk 5) Chozen.. Characters a lot more likeable the season, especially Robby and Tory. Improved in S4, especially Tory and both were a lot better in S5. I didn't have Robby in my top 10 previously, or maybe very low down but will this time

My Top 3 in order 1. Daniel Larusso.(He is the one I always rooted for.) 2. Chozen.(His redemption was on another level. He is the most logical thinker and actually gets over his beef and throughout season 5 finds friendship with miyagi-do through the students.) 3.Miguel/Robby.(I understood why Robby hated Miguel and I understood why Miguel hated Robby. They each grew and found balance and confidence through their dojo.)

I honestly think it's time to give Anthony some slack. In all honesty, peer pressure from his friends caused him to be Kenny's bully. He since saw the error of his ways and tried apologizing to Kenny, who beat him up on the spot. He since also got bullied virally at the waterpark and got his head dunked in a crap-laden toilet. I think he's been through enough. Therefore I would put him ahead of at least Kyler, who is just a bully who refuses to see the error of his ways. As for my top 3, Johnny, Miguel, and Daniel.

Despite his flaws, Johnny Lawrence is every bit as influential to Miguel as Miyagi was to Daniel. He has to be number 1 and Miguel is definitely number 2. Miguel has been through so much and it was great to see the level of maturity shown in season 5 I would have Robby and chozen a little higher. I do think Terry at top 3 is bold but right. He is a great character and has went through so much in 2 seasons. It's hard to imagine Terrance from season 4 would turn so maniacal so quickly I'm 38 so grew up with the karate kid and studied karate for many years before moving on to other arts Great video, subscribed!

Sean, great ranking, agree with all your pics, Johnny for me is the key to the show since nearly all his actions drives the story in motion. Though, I think Stingray had a cool moment at the season 5 finale.

I only really like Johnny, Chozen, Terry, Robby, and Tory. The rest, I find mid. I do think Amanda is the only "adult" in the show. I did enjoy seeing Ali, Kumiko, and Jessica again.

Least favourites are definitely Kenny, Kyler and Anthony. Favourites are definitely Johnny, Chozen, Miguel, Daniel and Silver. Although to the shows credit I like the vast majority of the characters that you're supposed to like, most of them have enough depth to make you understand why they're on a certain path.

Johnny is definitely my favorite! It’s crazy the karate kid has always been my favorite movie of all time and this show has turned a character I never liked into my favorite of the franchise! Zabka just steals every scene he is in 🤘🏼💯✊🏻🐍

Man I agree with everything but the robby placement. From season two on he was my second d favorite behind hawk. I completely get what you are saying with the flip flopping of his decisions, but I kinda get it. He's a teenager that had it rough never really trusted anyone and then it looks like everyone turns on him. Season 4 was an incredible season for robby and season 5 cemented it for me. But hey that's just my take, nothing wrong with yours either And Sam. Sam's too high, shouldn't be above hawk. But that's fine

For me, Chozen is my favourite. He gets the best fight IMO, he gets the funniest moments, he’s such a badass, but he’s also just a generally nice guy. That’s the perfect character for me.

Crazy how everyone is so different. My order would go: 1. Johnny 2. Terry 3. Hawk 4. Robby 5. Daniel 6. Tory 7. Amanda 8. Kreese 9. Dimetri 10. Chozen I really can’t stand Sam. And Kyler is just cringe. I do have hopes for Devon, Anthony, and Kenny going forward. Miguel would’ve been top 5 for me seasons 1-3 but last two seasons I haven’t liked him as much

The last show that was this binge worthy into 5 seasons was breaking bad for me. Also i would love it if Daniel and Johnny named the merging dojos "Bonsai Karate". All throughout this franchise nothing has been more important and meaningful to the characters or narrative. That would be the perfect culmination for the last season.

Loved how Miguel matured into a responsible and actual adult in the show man, recalling back to the time when we see Robby & Sam talking and Hawk assuming that Robby was trying to move in on Sam, but Miguel knew that Robby & Sam were just catching up and that him & Robby are cool with each other, Robby matured as well, Miguel becoming a badass and something who can find balance within himself and everybody around him. Robby also was pretty matured as well, understanding that Miguel & Johnny have their own dynamic and he is not as jealous as he was. Kenny pissed me off so much in Season 5, thinking that he can beat Miguel, Robby & Hawk man it’s ridiculous how much plot armor they Jon, Josh & Hayden gave him. Loved Sam & Tory as well in this season

Johnny’s growth is so awesome that it’s S5’s biggest saving grace. The reason that there can be a Season 6 and possibly season 7 is because he still has a little room to grow. What’s his pawn shop job going to be?

I like Demetri he started as a very pessimistic guy and he did nothing and then he got into Miyagi do and beat hawk and helped him on his redemption and has never been the strongest and in 5 he was a bit underused but he was still pretty fun. Used to hate him but now I love him

Johnny is my number one, no question! I’m the same age as the old school gang and its so much fun because I can relate to all of them at times, even when it’s just ridiculous. The music, the throwback lines, its all great but the characters are always at the center.

Johnny still my favorite character every season...then Miguel, but i have to say that i loved Chozen in this season, Daniel is a complex character (sometimes i liked, and sometimes i think he is a jerk), and Silver and Kreese are amazing villains, and i'm glad that since season 4 they make Robby much likeable. My top 10: 1. Johnny 2. Miguel 3. Terry Silver (i love a good villain) 4. Chozen 5. Sam (she became a badass since season 4) 6. Daniel 7. Hawk 8. Kreese (he is amazing, but in this season he wasn't around so much) 9. Amanda 10. Tory
