In real-world history, one of the reasons Eurasia dominated was because the continents are easy to traverse - big rivers suitable for boats, a lot of flat ground spanning east to west, smallish deserts, etc. so trade has gone on since the dawn of civilisation as evidenced by how vast the range of the Indo-European language family is. Technology has been shared for millennia, accelerating their development: mathematics from Arabia and India spread to Europe, glass and later gunpowder went from east to west, along with all manner of other things like philosophy, language and strategy. Even negative things like plague helps stimulate medical advances and social planning. Another reason is the nice, temperate climates most of these Eurasian nations have making it easy for them to grow lots of food. Egypt dominated in ancient times, but soon found themselves population capped when they reached the capacity of what could be grown in the Nile basin giving Greece and Rome time to expand. This is a key difference between real life and Civilization. A lot of the time in Civ you want to be left alone, especially if you're going for peaceful victory conditions. Technology trading does happen and can speed things up, but you can research them on your own, and if you're clustered around a load of other civilisations chances are you'll have a few wars. In the game, war slows down your technological progression, whereas it speeds it up in real life (sadly). Wars in the game last for hundreds of years; not so in real life (even the Hundred Years War!). While a number of isolated or semi-isolated civilisations in real life have flourished (e.g. various ones in South America, Malians, Khymer, etc.), they've never been anywhere near the same level as the Eurasian ones because they haven't been part of this vast learning network east and west of the Eurasian plateau.

Drew, a lot of those French city captures were without war. Eleanor of Aquitaine's Court of Love ability was flipping those war-torn cities and just letting everyone else fight it looked like.

Rhye's and Fall of Civilization was great as a mod for the various civilisation games as it had historical timeline starts as Civs would enter play and revolt other civ cities in their spawning locations.

Hey Drew Love your videos, but how do you record your gameplay? I use OBS or Streamlabs OBS and they get extremely glitchy and all the UI and unit icons and banners just glitch out Unless i drop my graphics settings to low. It is so annoying. I have a GTX 1070 so jw what you were using. It has made it kinda impossible to keep recording my gameplays of Gathering Storm.

Someone make a mod where the leaders are all drew from different videos through out his KZfaq career. I've been subbed since around 30k and I love this channel. Found him from ho4 and he actually helped explain the game well enough that I could actually play it lol. But all the faces of the leaders will be from way back in the day to the 200k paint video and now to the history videos, btw the history videos are really cool I hope he does a lot more much love from the east coast keep at it
