ok so im late but there is a reason as to why the darkness devil removes the arms of everybody (idk about the rest but) in darkness, the best way to figure out where you are is by touch, right? if you remove that, you have no way of navigating where you are, making the darkness devil more feared, making it more powerful

The common consensus is that Astronauts are people who "dare to face darkness" by heading into space, a place almost suffused with darkness. So it's more a display of force and fear, saying "Humans will never overcome me no matter what". @@Meestordandan

Fami can teleport to anywhere where people are feeling they are hungry. You can notice in every her appearance out of thin air. In every case people around were hungry. When she appeared on a kitchen for comedic relief - Yoru was so hungry she was eating sandwich in a background. Fujimoto likes moments like these because it's exposition trough action without using words. "Show what's going, but don't tell about it". She doesn't control Primal Devil, Falling devil just has very polite personality, that's all there is. Unnamed Devil is the actual Justice Devil. To our biggest surprise.

No the falling devil is definitely a pawn of Fami, as she returns to her after the fight is over. It is implied fami somehow starved the falling devil and that is why she is a pawn to her.

@@TheNewRavager yeah that’s definitely why. I remember being so confused throughout the whole arc on what relevance food/chef/cooking has to do with falling and trauma, until the end of the arc when it revealed the falling devil is subservient to the famine devil, making a lot of sense.

Surely the fear of failure would be one of primal fears. EVERYONE is usually scared of failure, whether is be at school, college, relationships, family, business and work. I’m more scared of failure than darkness tbh

Failure could be a very powerful devil but idk. I always interpreted primal devils as the ones that originate from fears that are innate to humans, meaning they are powerful because everyone, no matter what, fears that specific thing to a certain degree. So for example i can imagine a Death devil or a Pain devil being primal.

Yeah it’s the fear of what is in the dark, also the darkness devil takes away their limbs since you can use them to navigate in the dark and so on with other limbs/body parts

yeah, like how the falling devil doesn't just represent the literal concept of falling, but all types of falling, falling in love, into despair, the works, its because these primal devils embody such wide concepts that they are so powerful, and like you said, the darkness devil doesn't just embody the fear of the darkness itself, but all the unknowns hidden within it's depths as well.

While describing the Angel Devil you said in a few seconds it drained 2 years off of Aki when it was actually 2 months. The curse devil said Aki only had 2 years (which ended up not being true I think so it questions the reliability of its word).

If anyone happens to see this: from recent happenings in the manga it was revealed that the devil at the end is the justice devil, or which we know nothing about. The devil that people had been thinking was the justice devil was actually the fire devil, which allows people to transform into whatever they most desire too (if I remember correctly) and the more transformations that occur at once, the more powerful the transformations are

I think fire is not the fundamental of fear so fire shouldn't be primal devil. Not every people are afraid of fire but I'm pretty sure almost everyone afraid of bring alone in the darkness for long time aka fear of the unknown (darkness devil) or everyone is afraid of bring falling from very high ground place(fall devil) or everyone devils included are afraid of death(death devil). It’s basically a way to escape death. For example, if a devil is on the verge of death they can take over a corpse to be in full shape again, however since they will be weaker it’s kind of a last resort option. I also imagine some devils kept by public safety where forced to become fiends because they where judged to be more efficient by fighting themselves (in a weaken state for easier control) rather than making contracts.

@@droma982Exactly, which is exactly why the gun devil became a fiend too, makima nearly killed it but by taking over Aki's corpse it survived. Yoru also pulled a similar trick, but took over Asa not just to survive but to also gain the strength necessary to fight chainsaw man in secret

I have to let you know this since a lot of people seem to be confused by how to pronounce reze's name. The pronunciation for it is Reh-zeh, since that's the phonetic pronunciation for the japqnese characters. Not trying to be rude at all, just thought it might help clear some things up.

Note* : There is a devil for about everything, even if people are not scared of the thing they are based of. However, when they do, the devil that represent the fear in question get stronger. Note 2* : The fear needed to power the devil is not just limited to humans but to animals and others devils as well. Its part of the reason why chainsaw devil is so strong despite not being feared by humains, since a good amouth of devils fear him.
