Great video. I've found mid-side processing is an area in mixing where knowing a bit about what's going on "under the hood" can make a difference. Your explanation at the beginning helped a lot in this regard. Thanks so much!

This Mid/Size-Stuff is not only great on Drums, but it's *the* secret sauce on Vocal tracks in ballads! Combined with the other video about Mid/Siding the Stereo-Effects the mixes get so much better. Thanks a lot!

Great techniques and very well explained, thank you! The downside is that the sound loses "grip", it gets a bit washy in the end. But as you mentioned, this is just to give us an idea of what is possible. And I will keep it in mind for sure.

@AudioMountain777 I know you are new to Studio One, and as you didn't mention the Studio One Splitter which can also split to mid side, there is a little chance that you don't know about it, but probably you know already. I only mention it for completeness and any reader/viewer who is interested.

I went through the panning and decibel issues on the Q&A, hope that helps. These hacks come with issues and there is no perfect solution for them, but still useful to know about. Thanks Owl!

So useful! Sometimes a track just needs something to bring it to life in the mix and this is freaking GREAT! I suppose it is just weighing up the benefits v probs but I'm sure it'll get easier to decide as time goes on.. but at the moment it Christmas lol Thanks again AM!!! 😎🙏🕊️@@AudioMountain777

WHat happens when the organ and guitar have 1/4 and 1/8 delay etc . Will this work for lets say synth with delays on it. How would you deal with that? Thank you so much by the way!!
@AudioMountain777
@AudioMountain777 2 ай бұрын
Delaying mids and sides by less than 25 milliseconds is so minute that you won't have to worry about 1/8 note or 1/4 note delays, but it will add to the effect very subtly, but not in s way that sounds out of time so yes, it works on synths as well.

One last question at the end of the video when you taje the sides of the drums , organs and guitars. My question the tracks labeled mid and side for each. Are they duplicate waves called side and mids or are they example drum buss sending to another buss called side and another called mids for each. My question is did you duplicate waves and called it side and mids for the drums , organ , guitar. Do I need to do a stereo mix down wave for each and apply the trick or its get applied to a bus called mid adn another called side for each before it goes the last buss called sides. I got lost heir. Highly appreciate it.
@AudioMountain777

They are all stereo duplicates that are each isolated to mids and sides, then all the mids tracks are sent to a mids bus, and same for the sides tracks. That way you have a bus for mids and a bus for sides.

@@AudioMountain777 are the stereo duplicates a copied stereo wave file on another stereo track or are using send?
