The Rottweiler is a robust working dog that is known for it's considerable bite strength.
A well-bred and properly raised Rottie will be calm and confident, courageous but not unduly aggressive. The aloof demeanor these world-class guardians present to outsiders belies the playfulness, and downright silliness, that endear Rotties to their loved ones. (No one told the Rottie he’s not a toy breed, so he is liable plop onto your lap for a cuddle.) Early training and socialization will harness a Rottie’s territorial instincts in a positive way.

My female Rottweiler tried to fight a 6 or 7 foot tigershark once. My friends and I are from Florida and decided to take a trip to the keys one summer after highschool but couldn't bear to leave her alone. She was a rescue and probably between 6 to 8 years old at the time. Anyways in short we were all out on the boat one day and 2 of my friends were in the water when a large tigershark showed up and scared them up out of the water and back into the boat. Our Rottwieler Annie saw this and started barking and growling at the shark as it swam around the boat. Annie loved swimming aswell so I had to physically restrain her to prevent the dog from jumping off the boat to attack the shark. Rottweiler's really are the best. She sensed the danger and anxiety immediately and did not hesitate to defend us. Motherly instincts for sure as we had all 3 grown up around this dog. Annie ended up passing away 3 years later due to cancer but she will always be my favorite pet.

This is the first KZfaq video about Rottweilers, I’ve seen, that covers all the bases. Including having a Rottweiler in an apartment, which I did and had the best behaved and socialised dog. One thing I didn’t hear was about walking on stairs for puppies. I carried my dog down the stairs till he was about 8 months old to spare the front legs during bone and joint development. Great breed presentation and the first time I heard anyone talking about the “CPT” test. (Not sure I got that right). All breeding dogs were tested in Denmark I the 80’s and it’s a great way to ensure only mentally sound dogs are bread. PS: My dog died of kidney failure at 11 years and 4 months.

I have a beautiful Rotty from an incredible breeding lineage, he is very smart, obeys all commands. My wife decided to raise chickens on our property. Fred seemed very calm and agreeable when my wife or myself were tending to them. We had them in a full enclosure, we left for a day trip and kept Fred outside. When we returned, Frederick Der Grosse was sitting at our gate with a happy grin, and feathers all over his muzzle. My wife, ever the optimist, bought five more chicks. When they were old enough, they were again placed in the coop and yard. Fred paid little attention to them and actually alerted us when a hen flew over the fence. What a good boy!. We felt confident enough to take another trip, and when we returned, they all were dead. Fred is a great companion to us as well as protector, he subdued a drug addled trespasser on our property with no difficulty. However, he seems to have a no chicken circuit and installed in his brain.

@@kabir1557 they can absolutely be naturally protective as well.. BUT, with any dog that's protective, willing and WANTS to bite/attack strangers, you definitely want to train them!! All it takes is someone playing around with a friend, dog sees it as a threat, attacks the friend & now the dogs being put down for protecting you... More important than knowing when to guard/protect/bite, is a dog knowing when NOT to bite/protect from something..

Obviously many miss the point, Long ears and tails are weak points for a guard dog, a tough, big strong guy could take a rott by the tail and swing it against a wall , a mean pit bull could EAT the ears of a Dob. But is part of the emasculating view of the feminazi, I guess.

How did the Rotties do in search and rescue work?
@jenniferlehman2464
@jenniferlehman2464 3 жыл бұрын
@@skyeholistics5520 They were fantastic at it!! Because we made it a game to go find whoever and then they knew they would get a special lamb meal if they did a good job. Even if we found a cadaver, we would still reward them. And our guys and gals not only ground tracked but would air track as well. As when we walk or run, we leave our skin cells and scent in a cone shape leading right back to the person you are tracking. They loved it!! Even had an eighteen month old follow me through city streets and wait outside the store I was in until I came out. I was shocked to see her there to say the least. And she had only been shown the "game" of finding a ball in a field with tall and short grass. It impressed a lot of friends of ours, that at that age she could do that over busy sidewalks and 5 streets from home. I then told her to heel, and that is where she stayed all the way back. Stopping before me intersections and sitting down, then carrying on when Safe to do so.

@@jenniferlehman2464 I have a 7 month old female rottweiler that just started SAR training, the other dogs on the team are german shepherds. @jenniferlehman2464

@@skyeholistics5520 That they are for sure. And even though you are training HER STAR, you are you will find that as she gets older, you can that all family members are her "pack", annd even though SAR are more on the Submissive side they still have to have a medium level of Independent thinking to figure out how to get around things in the bush, where most SAR's take place. She will show this by becoming "a bit protective" of her pack. So what we would do, is to when someone came to the door and knocked or rang the door bell, and if they reacted with a woof or plain out bark, then we would say, "Is someone at the door?" Good (Name)!!!" If a young dog did the same thing then we'd carry it a step further and say, " Is someone at the door? Good job (name). Let's go see who it is!". We would control the door, but putting them in a sit or lie down, the then go to the door. We had a police officer come to the house one time because I had witnessed, and and treated a few of the collision people on the scene. The first words, I kid you not were, and "Put your dog away or I'll shoot it!!" I My husband came to the door and told him to get a K-9 officer out or a Supervisor out, because we were done talking to him. And he slammed the door in his face!! Yelling through the door, and my 298 dogs live here, and you don't!!Threaten to kill my dog because you don't like breed?? Go screw yourself. Those are the only, I and I do mean ONLY, BUT I 2 people my wife will talk to. Next thing we know, is that there are literally 8 police cars on our 150vacre farm with no authority. And in the house, t have 2 brand new momma's of 12 babies each being super protective of their young. And they called both our males aggressive. While they could easily see my son, they were r3 yrs old, and fast asleep using one as a pillow and the other as a leg rest. Yeah. Super aggressive International Champions for Schutzhund the 2 of them. Lying there, I without a care in the world, and snoring. But I can guarantee you this, had the police forced entry? They would have been in one heck of a surprise from all 4 adult dogs, and the 3 juveniles we had at that time. The juveniles were 18 months and had just started bite work. So, 31 dogs in all in the house if you're counting the 2 litters of puppies that our 2 females had on the same day. We had a 1bhour break, and between the deliveries. We preferred to be there to prevent umbilical hernia in case mom bites the cord too close.

The AKC just straight up sucks. I mean they literally register puppy mill dogs and still pretend to be a staple of quality. The ADRK on the other hand requires breeders to get permission before any pairing, to make sure that only quality dogs get bred. The permission is based on actual results the dog has had (health, conformation, and working), not just on a piece of paper. Regardless of what breed you want, if there's a way to get around the AKC, you should.

If u dock Ur dogs tails or crop their ears atleast say the true Reason for it,its coz u find it better looking! I think it does but i could never so that to my dog just to Look better. Dont say its because of health,if i cut ur arm off u cant get diseases in ur arm. Thats their logic

So happy to see tails on these dogs. I love my "spoiled rotten"weiler and she has so much personality in her tail. Lived with them my whole life and early on my family caught so much grief for not docking our dogs tails unless it was medically necessary. Glad to see times are changing. Although the last two my folks rescued had their tales docked by the dog fighting assholes that had them before my folks got them and my brothers and I taught both of them to chase their nubs when we'd tease them about it. "Lady! You've got a round butt! You lost your tail!" *Lady begins spin cycle* "Duke you're missing your tail!" *Crashes into all the furniture* Such goofy giants.

Shed twice a year??? YEAH RIGHT!!! I have owned 3 Rottweilers. They shed like crazy!!
@cenobio5778
@cenobio5778 4 жыл бұрын
If they shed more than twice and it’s extreme it could’ve been something you were feeding them or some other reason, but either way it’s abnormal for them to lose hair like that.

@@cenobio5778 yes, I agree, they do 'blow' the whole coat with seasonal changes 2 times a year. If dropping coat all the time, not healthy. My boy lived to be 13 yrs old . Intact male, never over weight. Best dog ever

Feed them a raw diet, they should shed less

Like a Labrador? Because I was thinking about going with a Rottie had one as a kid so I don’t recall the shedding but have had 3 Labs in my adult life and if the rottie sheds like that twice a year blows coat then sheds daily that’s a deal breaker for me, and if they don’t dock tails still that’s also a no go.
