All About The Feather Duster Worm

We got a brand new episode today! THE FEATHER DUSTER! This one has been requested a lot, so I am happy to be bringing it here to the series. They are a filter feeding coral and do not require any specific lighting to have one. They do well burred in the sand with their head pointing upwards to filter feed throughout the day!

Got a feather duster today and almost got a purple one but it wasn't sucking back into its tube so it was stressed or dying. So ended up just going with a regular brownish yellow one

Well I just learned a whole lot cuz I've bought three of them and can't figure out why they wouldn't live now I know they're supposed to stay in the sand and not on the rock got it thanks

Thanks for the video, i got a feather duster that lost his feathers and I almost threw it the tube because I thought it was dead but now feathers grew back A few weeks later. I'm glad I didn't toss the Lil guy.

I had one for a month but my blue legged hermits kept climbing on him and he wouldn’t come out and eventually died. I’ll try again if I see one at my lfs

Would recommend small rubble rocks, forming a circle in the middle that you could slide it into like a straw going into a cup

It is possible to glue that outershell, but usually burrying them in the sand will keep them in place.

They can! you will see them pop up all over the tank.

Heads up! If you have any sort of large urchin in your tank it WILL eat your feather duster. My pencil urchin ate it.

I had mine for a year no problem. A few days after watching this video my pistol shrimp ripped it to shreds and my watchman goby had his mouth full of it. :/
