We have a '22 XLT Explorer. It's been great, and it has a surprising amount of amenities for the price. It has luxuries that my Lariat SuperDuty did not have. It's a great choice.

We have a limited 2020 explorer and no complaints. Made some cross country trips. Very comfortable and fuel efficient for what it is. I’m 6’3” and fit just fine in the drivers seat and passenger side with no issues. I seen some videos of the refreshed 2023 being sold overseas right now. It’s looks even better I think.

We found the perfect 21 limited explorer we were looking for, thankfully. Sun roof heated/cooled seats, captain's chairs. Even has tan interior with black exterior. Always found black on black when looking. Loving it so far.

I hope it's a good one for you. I'm from Ohio, I lived in TX for 4 yrs in the late 80's ... A black on black vehicle would be OUT Of The Question for me in any southern state... My mother had one here in Ohio and it was like an Easy Bake OVEN !! Brutal !!

Nice vehicle, think you'll enjoy it. Personally, I prefer the bigger vehicles. I've had several F150's over the years. While I was still working, I drove 30 - 35 miles a day, I got a Mazda 3. Nice little car, biggest draw was the 40 mpg on the highway. But I really prefer to drive the bigger vehicles. As I get older the little ones are getting harder (less enjoyable) to get in and out of. Very nice SUV. Really enjoy the channel. God bless you and your family and have a blessed day my friend.

I have a 2013 Explore limited, and we love it! 130,000 miles, and only doin the recovery maintenance, it has been problem free. We bought this car because we had a 2002 Explore with 178,000 that never had any issues, other than the a/c condenser went out just because we sold it, and one of the power window motors went out which was an easy fix. I used the 2002 as my Home Depot runner as, being a woodworker, I always needed sheet goods. Unless, you can’t put a 4x8’ sheet of plywood in the 2013, but it still handles the dimensional lumber. I think you’ll, or your wife rather, will enjoy it.

We just bought a 2023 Explorer XLT. The wife’s previous car was a 2013 Explorer Limited. Our new XLT has leather seats and doesn’t miss much that her old limited had. The only things it doesn’t have that I miss is the memory seating and the little accent interior lights in the cup holders, door releases, footwells, etc. I can live without these. It also doesn’t have a sunroof like her older one but like you we don’t care for em. The new XLT does have 4WD where as our older limited was FWD. The 4WD was a must as the FWD was almost useless in snow. So far very happy with it.

Competition to the Explorer is the Durango, Traverse(JUNK), Acadia(Smaller), Grand Cherokee, Telluride/Palasade(engines are terrifying). My wife just bought a 2022 XLT and the 2.3 is more than enough engine, pulls very well in the 2000-3500rpm range. I'm happy with the longitudinal power train layout.

I think if I were buying in this class I'd 100% go for the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. These Fords turn into rattle boxes by 50k and the 2.3 has the same coolant intrusion issues that the 2.0 has been in the news for. The high sales numbers you referred to are because of their huge rental fleet deployments.

Nice ride. About a week ago I rented an Explorer, a 2022? Limited for work and I was pleasantly surprised over all with it. Had it for 5 days and 600 plus miles. I had owned 2 brand new mid 90's Explore's and they come up in style since then. But I thought the ride was not as nice as a 2020 Toyota Highland I had a couple weeks prior. I hope you and your family get many miles of enjoyment out of that Explorer.

We looked at an Explorer and a Subaru Ascent in 2020 and went with the Ascent. We traded that in for more than we paid for it originally and got an Outback in 2022. I think the Explorer is great, but a lot of people overlook the Subaru Ascent thinking it’s “a bigger Forester” and it’s really not. It’s a great 3 row SUV. Since we didn’t need the 3rd row the Outback made more sense.

Glad you chose the shorter screen which looks less gimmicky then the longer vertical one's. The 4 cylinder is plenty of power for sure but I'd prefer if Ford offered the 2.7 V6 as standard. Definitely no knock on the better for maintenance 4 cylinder, I just prefer diesels and V8's so a 4 cylinder is a stretch even though I own a Lincoln MKZ and MKC with 4 cylinders for my son and daughter. We have the Buick Enclave which is great for 6 of us to go on road trips and daily driving and a Ford Expedition for towing and going skiing. Looking at the Aviator but don't like the expensive and albeit likely to fail or glitch electronics and poor reliability rating.

Range Rovers are way much nicer than an Explorer. The problem relies on cost of onwership and realibility issues on Range Rover vehicles. That’s what drives customers away from Range Rover.

I do like then all...in terms of interior and exterior look. We bought our oldest daughter a Hyundai about 8 years ago. It was loaded with tech and really nice for about 3-4 years and then it started to suffer from stupid issues, like door locks and windows not working and steering and suspension components wearing prematurely. I don't fully trust the long term reliability of some brands yet.

@@BigTruckBigRV And there are people who will make the same comment about the North American Brands. My GMC truck 5 and half years in needed a engine replacement. Just outside of warranty. Nice Explorer, but, this was probably my LEAST favorite video of yours. I mean no disrespect, but I was disappointed largely because you’ve got a lot of information wrong in this video. Maybe my expectations are too high because your videos are normally bulletproof, hard facts, stats and specs through and through that are all verifiably accurate. That’s why I LOVE all your videos, minus this one. Idk if your sales person misinformed you, or if you were just assuming. But, either way, a little research would’ve gone a long way. Like I said tho, no disrespect or discredit to what you do. Not every video can be perfect like most of yours are! In case you read this comment and are wondering what I mean: - Your explorer limited is not a low end or high end limited. They were all 300a packages. It was the only package available in 2020 unless you got a hybrid, in which you’d get a 310a option which included noise cancellation. Contrary to what you said, there is not much configurability on limited trim at all. - There were only three major freestanding options for 2020 limited: pano roof, tow pack, and polished 20’s, the latter of which you have. This again playing to the tune of restricted configurability. - You cannot option practically any of the Platinum trim options. The 10.1” screen, the digital instrument cluster, a 14 speaker B&O system (opposed to 12), the adaptive projector style front LED headlamps that turn with the road, a leather wrapped dash board, the messaging seats, and the 3.0L V6 are all on platinum trim and none of which could be optioned on limited in 2020 (the larger 10.1 screen and upgraded B&O are optional now for 2022+ model years) - (OPINION) like I said, this is my opinion, but I wouldn’t consider the Explorer as quality as you made it out to be either. The explorer (not to add insult to injury, but especially the 2020 model year since it was the first year) are notably plagued with quality and fit/finish issues. Those interior trim pieces have massive panel gaps, all of the trim and finish materials are injection molded or hard plastics (platinum trim does materials slightly better), the NVH levels are bad, and lastly the transmission tuning is sloppy and clunky when compared to Lincoln Aviator which it shares a platform with.

@@BigTruckBigRV … wow, I didn’t think you’d actually have the time to read all the comments, let alone my short novel. 😂 I figured this video was of "lesser importance" when compared to your usual channel stuff. But I was just caught off guard because I’ve come to have extremely high expectations for your content. 🤣 Your content is literally, 100%, the soul influence in my truck/rv related buying decisions. Your videos are some of the best on the internet. Straight forward, detailed, it’s all there! My set up, everything in it, is entirely thanks to you. 😂 Sometimes I wish I hadn’t seen your videos. I’d have a lot more money laying around. Kidding, but you get the point! Thanks for the reply and I hope you enjoy your Explorer. I had a 21 ST for a while and loved it because the V6 models weren’t as impacted by the drivetrain quarks. Make sure the recent recall for the transmission tuning and rollaway problem has been done by the dealer and I think you’ll love it for a long time. If your parking brake automatically comes on when you put it in park, then it should be all set. The auto parking brake is part of the update. FYI: I tried sending you a video idea once on your website but it wouldn’t go through. Idk if it’s been fixed since I tried a couple weeks ago, but there was a problem with the contact section on your website and it wasn’t submitting the email/content idea. At least it appeared to not go through? Idk, just thought I’d mention it.
