Thanks. I learned some things from your video. I have an electric car and I wanted to learn about what kind of tires I need. I understand now what it means to have a reduced friction tire for fuel efficiency. That's the one the dealer recommends because it increases your driving range on an EV.

Thanks for the video. I am now a senior citizen and have had cars all of my adult life, but learned a few new things here. I am cost concious as well as wanting quality tires. I found a good value at Costco with Mitchelin tires. They are much quieter than the Goodyears that were on my van.

short video!? just playing. great video you've been very helpful. My new favorite tires are TOYO-M608Z 185/70R19.5 because the load rating is great and they have a better grip than most service tires I can find. Plus the height helps with the fuel economy. Thanks again.

Hi everyone, thanks for the advice, but one thing is wrong and I'm surprised nobody noticed, is that the 1st number on the size, is actually the height of the tire and the 2and is the width of tire, 3rd is rim size. He had the 1st 2 numbers mixed up or backwards. Great video though. Hope that clarifies better for everyone. Love everyone!

No, no, no........195 is the width of the tread in mm, 55 is the aspect ratio, ie the height of the tyre wall is 55 % of the width of the tread and 16 is the diameter of the wheel in inches. (195/55x16)

Great informative video. Thanks Joao. I have used Bridgestone Turanza and then switched to Michelin energy savers and then primacy 3, both of which are very very good. Now for future I think Michelin cross country are the best for winters and summers alike. But this is my personal bias to Michelin!

Congratulations on your video. You talked about many aspects of the tires and that was very good. Although I think it is important to state that some Eco Tyres from nowadays tend to be softer and more comfortable than performance tires. I have the example of the Bridgestone Ecopia EP001S that is a A-A-69dB rated tire that are almost like "jelly" and provide outstanding comfort and also deforms very well to match road surfaces. The downside is less road feeling and deformation on fast corners.

May I contribute to your excellent video. Another factor to look at when buying a tire is fabricating date: a four digit in a window like wwyy (week, year). Ex: 4408 means the tire was fabricated on 44th week of year 2008. Buy the newer tire. Consider to replace tire that has more than 10 years of age. About pressure, take a look a label on the frame of car after opening the driver door. The car company indicates how much air pressure you should put in front tires and rear tires. Check your tire pressure before the first trip in the day. Thank you!

Hi Joao, Great explanation !!! The depth should be measured at the any thread(say average of 3 places of symmetrical tyres) but my tyre dealer is measuring the wear depth at the wear indicators which i have pointed is wrong.

Just a correction observation.....Joao said you can only swap asymmetrical front to rear on the same side and visa versa. Asymmetrical tyres CAN be rotated cross corner, (example offside front to nearside rear). The outside of the tyre is STILL on the outside of the vehicle, only it will be rotating the other way which in fact is beneficial because it will even up the "feather effect" which occours over time as the tyre wears.

I have worked at a lot of different tyre shops and in my experience Bridgestone tyres are the best all round tyre out there I have a landcruiser ute with 265/75R16 Bridgestone 697 on it and I love them and you have a passenger car I think the best tyre would be the Bridgestone ecopia or if you are looking for a cheaper tyre try the super cat or Firestone TZ700 both great tyres

This is a great video you explained everything perfectly. I just bought 4 new Michelin tires. They installed them, then told me I had to get an alignment which I thought they are a tire shop why would I have to go somewhere else to get an alignment. Anyway, they ruin my rim had to wash tires when I got home they looked like they were sitting in a pile of dirt. How do we know if tires were stored properly? thanks

Hey, educative video over there.......i have a VW passat with 205/55ZR16 91W, but when i drive through a bumpy road the car touches down.......would increasing the size of the tire be a solution to this problem.
