The only Rocket to this day with Hakeem that doesn't interview with mainstream sources. Not saying none of the other Rockets 🚀 can't talk their shit it's just Hakeem and Thorpe are the only two i havent heard from bout the 91-94 Bulls or about the Drexler trade or any of that crucial Rockets era controversies.

Always thought he needed his own, one-hand palming, statue of liberty dunk package in NBA 2K.

I just ran across OT at a cigar lounge in Austin two days ago. He’s a towering figure.

At 6'9, right? Though he's listed at 6'10 in the starting lineups, and on some basketball cards.

Otis Thorpe, Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, James Worthy, etc; all underrated as fuck

Ok those last three players are definitely not underrated and are recognized as great players who contributed a lot to the game. Otis thorpe, a good player, was a one time all-star and doesnt really compare when it comes to the accolades of the other athletes

Jj Williams You talking to me? If you wanna be ignorant about it thats fine bro but theres no way in hell youre going to be able to convince me that three hall of famers are underrated. I agree that Otis Thorpe was underrated, but hes nothing compared to oscar robertson, kareem abdul jabbar, and james worthy

Actually I argue the original poster is correct about OT being underrated due to his teams successes. OT was Worthy like. Oscar and Kareem are all time legends. Underrated at times cuz of Time and media coverage and history blind spots... But, Otis Thorpe was every bit as good or better than Charles Oakley or Horace Grant and close to James Worthy's worth as an individual player. OT, Oakley and Grant all made 1 all star though and Worthy was a better scorer than any of them. They all shot high percentage from the field but Worthy was a more capable volume scorer who could keep his field goal percentage up even with alot of shots taken or defensive focus on him. Good comparison though in describing the low key nature of OT's existence.

lynchie137 I'll give you the Basketball-Reference.com player link to the man who was said to have been the last remaining active member of the former Kansas City Kings to retire, and his name is Otis Thorpe. Here's the link: www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thorpot01.html click on the link above. After reviewing his entire NBA career from 1984-85 to 2000-01, let me know what you think about his overall statistical performances with the Kansas City/Sacramento Kings (1st stint; '84-'85 to '87-'88), Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, Detroit Pistons, Vancouver Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings (2nd stint; second half of '97-'98), Washington Wizards, Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets. Anything from Thorpe's NBA career (including All-Star berths, the team that he's most valuable for, and when he was basically reduced to a role player/robbed of his former All-Star type numbers/stats from '92-'93 onwards after being inadvertently kneed by Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons in a preseason game versus the Pistons which left Thorpe with a blood buildup in the wall of his kidneys) would be appreciated thanks. Give me a team ranking/player rating of either suckfest (3), solid (2) or superstar (1) with each of his NBA teams: 1) Kansas City/Sacramento Kings (1st stint): ??? 2) Houston Rockets: ??? 3) Portland Trail Blazers: ??? 4) Detroit Pistons: ??? 5) Vancouver Grizzlies: ??? 6) Sacramento Kings (2nd stint): ??? 7) Washington Wizards: ??? 8) Miami Heat: ??? 9) Charlotte Hornets: ???
