To all the haters, pause for a second and just take a note from his choice of words, gesture, and humbleness. He didnt want any of these individual award and neither he ever says he is the best. So you cant hate him for people giving him the award. What you cant deny is that he is still putting magic out, consistently! Let the man live and enjoy his life. There are many out there who are claiming and demanding to be the best but barely have any consistency like some of the greatest players we know which includes Messi.

Exactly, If Messi had ghosted in FIVE straight critical finals: UCL Final, UCL Semi-Final, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup Final, and the Community Cup Final and had less than 10 touches in each of those games, only to receive the Ballon d'Or due to scoring an array of tap-ins against lesser teams like Southampton and Norwich while another player single-handedly led a team of inexperienced players to World Cup glory, surely there would have been significant backlash against FIFA with claims that the award is rigged for him, etc. However, because it's Haaland-it's somehow justified that he deserved it over Messi. The double standards are so obvious. Let’s not forget Zidane secured the Ballon d'Or in 1998 after winning the World Cup. Similarly, R9 fetched it in 2002 for the World Cup victory, and Cannavaro won it in 2006 for the same reason. Modric claimed it in 2018 for steering Croatia to the final. However, it seems to become a contentious issue only when Messi is the subject. Clearly, there’s clear bias against Messi, driven by casuals like Ronaldo fangirls. They obviously didn’t want Messi to add another Ballon d'Or to his tally, and they most certainly did not wish to see the gap between Messi and Ronaldo in terms of Ballon d'Or wins grow even larger. Haaland deserves the Golden Boot or the Müller award, but not the Ballon d'Or. The latter award is meant for players who have made a significant impact on their club or country, beyond just statistics. Therefore, he didn't earn those trophies (the Treble) since he went missing; KDB carried him, and 90% of his goals were tap-ins, seriously even his "highlights" showed that when he was presented with the Gerd Müller trophy.

I'm confused and they should perhaps do a documentary on the Messi departure from Barca coz I think there is more to it that we don't know. As a die hard Barca and Messi fan from 2006 and if you know what Messi has done for the club and vice versa the ending was so unfitting of someone like Messi so the question that I want answered is it all because of Laporta?? I have heard all too often that the Ballon D'or is no longer prestigious and is always awarding the wrong players, but pretty much every time the decision is agreed upon by actual professional players and well respected coaches. This doesn't make the award less desired, if anything it is more sought after now that the 2 greatest players of all time are leaving the stage and talents that we won't ever see in our lifetime.

He also had 20 Goals and 20 assists throughout the season for PSG and had 2nd highest dribbles completed in Europe at the age of 35. Also messi leads in most chance created and many other stats. He was brilliant through out the season Messi was complete allround player in PSG contolling midfield

Did he score in the UCL final and other finals? If you watch his highlights at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, you can't see anything except some tap-ins. Meanwhile, at the other end, Messi completely transformed his team into a monster after being defeated by Saudi Arabia and scored two goals in the World Cup Final. Don't compare someone random who scores goals against Norwich City with a genius who scores two goals against defending champions in the World Cup final. I say Mbappé deserves the Ballon d'Or more than Haaland's tap-ins, even if Mbappé doesn't win anything. City would have been scoring 5 goals in each match even without Haaland. Don't come here and talk about football if you just started watching it after the lockdown.
