As an Ireland fan of a certain vintage, I was so used to watching Ireland lose in the bad old days that the All Blacks were my second team - unstoppable, unfathomable talent and came across as our kind of people. Much as I dream of an Ireland win on Saturday, this one's going to be like watching two of my favourite brothers scrapping. May whoever wins buy the beers.

I've read a lot of forums this week and of course followed the ABs religiously like most Kiwis. But I'm not obsessed with winning. If the All Blacks play excellent rugby that's enough. It's clear both sides are putting everything into it. I have a lot of confidence NZ will do well. But no one wins every game. And it may be that Ireland plays better on the day. If they do and get the result one thing clear is they will deserve it. Ill be cheering for the ABs.

Good grief! Surely you are aware that player and team confidence is a significant factor in how any rugby team plays. So going into a World Cup knock-out game you make certain you've said all you can to undermine the confidence of "your team." Not unusual in our fans but definitely unwelcome feedback for a player who might need some support. Do us a favor and comment on our opponents through the rest of the RWC. Please.

what thinking should be good without rotation.... letting players sitting arround and if important they integrated in seconds. rotation in group phase its important also all knows how friends doing. Every kiwi and AB fan knowing what an black jersey means.... Means Kiwi Aotearoa living and proud be an New Zealander. Means giving all for your land and history - future.

Fitzpatrick had the right attitude. The new age attitude of focusing on pleasure has had the most disappointing results for the ABs ever. Neither Nuggs or Reiko truly believe it as can be seen through their body language when pressed on the subject.

I wouldn’t use these two as a yardstick anyway. I would be more interested in how Whitelock and Retallick are traveling. Regardless, I sense the AB’s lack the ability to dominate up front…that and a world class 7 (I consider Savea an 8, Cane a 6, Papalii a big Prop).

They are a good team but panic when they come under pressure they crack.It's the confidence that Ireland has that will be a factor before they even touch the ball. This team have to start believing in their abilities other wise they are doomed.I have watched them fail 1995,1999,2003,2007 and 2019 but this time around they really wear the underdog label.I don't see them coming out on top to fragile at the moment.

The aggression and intensity will be there from the All Blacks come kickoff. This All Blacks game will be far different to what viewers have experienced at the world cup so far. From this interview one can see they've held things back. Cannot wait till kickoff.

Darian, I think the lesson you should take from your own post is, the AB’s have been overwhelming favourites at so many world cups, that rankings, odds and favourites tag mean nothing and they know it. It’s called experience. There’s a difference between confidence and over confidence. I certainly wouldn’t judge their humility as a lack of confidence, they know the meaning of “pride comes before a fall”.

Lots more pressure on Ireland whether they are nr one or not. They have to get past their ceiling of getting past the quarters. Then all of them in a place they have never been before. They are a good team but they have a lot to lose. The ABs can beat them and have enough experience for the next rounds too. It's going to be a great game. No one in Ireland can give them advice of how to deal with it... let the best team win.

As a psychologist, I've never seen such a nervous interview from the All Blacks. They're so unconvincing, don't believe in themselves and are talking like they've already lost the match four days before kick off. You can see a very different and confident attitude from the Irish. I think the Irish have this won. We might as well start preparing for 2027
