Here’s one theory about Clockwerk in the Stone Age. After he got his immortal body at some point in time he accidentally perched himself on top of LeParadox’s time machine blimp just before it traveled to the Stone Age and ended up having to go back the long way around ever since.

Clockwerk must have been a creation of leParadox maybe after he escaped from prison and since paradox is the only one who hates the coopers he uploaded his. Subconsciousness in the robot powerup by hatred.

My theory is that Clockwerk was the one who discovered time travel he either A) sent the technology to his past self in order to create himself or B) he went back in time at multiple points in history to destroy the Cooper Clan.

Can you imagine being Sly, seeing the thing that killed your parents… and not being able to do anything to stop him in the past to not mess with time?

I wonder why they didn’t think to involve Clockwerk in the game considering he’d still be around in these time periods. They just decided to have an Easter egg of him standing there menacingly.

Probably cause of the obvious fact he would have to get away considering it's pivotal Sly beats him in the first. Unless they just want to outright change history.

this is such a cool easter egg!!! they didn't need to put Clockwork in there but they did and I love it. it would have been interesting if one of the Coopers ran into him or even if they mentioned him more (Sly sometimes casually mentions him but that's it)

Clockwerk appearing in those worlds looks quite similar to Fake Crash appearing in every level of Crash Bandicoot 3 warped and Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy and also Ripper appearing in beat off of Crash Bandicoot 4 it's about time. About Clockwerk moving his body in those episodes it oblivious that in Sly's ancestors timelines that Clockwerk is still alive in them

Here's something that's been going through my mind What if clockwork was made by Penelope, something that advance can't come from anywhere especially with metal that can be kept pristine hundreds of years,not to mention all the abuse the metal body and the clockwork pieces being used for other purposes, it make sense that Penelope the advance technical genius that she is, is the very reason for the existence of slys greatest enemy's,and the reason for his father's death, imagine if that was the case she'd be most evil villain in the entire series

I doubt it. She had motive to work with the Rat guy but only because of money. I doubt she’d work with a guy full of hatred or make a suit full of hatred just to hunt down the Cooper lineage for centuries. It just wouldn’t match with how she would do things.

Omg but for real! Considering that Penelope’s motive in sly 4 was so similar to that of clockworks in sly 1? I love this idea so much and would of been so sick to see play out!!

This game has a missed opportunity for a clockwerk boss fight. Considering he’s followed them for years maybe he could’ve noticed how sly appeared in multiple different periods and stepped in to not just question but to destroy sly. Clockwerk wouldn’t need to be destroyed so it doesn’t affect Slys past but it’s enough to stop clockwerk for the time being. I just think it would’ve been cool but the game now is fine with what it has I suppose

Better idea: Each boss fight in Thieves in time should have just been clockwerk. He starts off as a pure organic owl, but each subsequent fight as you go further forward in time he becomes more robotoic and more and more furious tthat he keeps getting beaten.

No it doesn't. If it did, it would of flashed every other time in the video. They must of been spotted by a guard that time

@@DragonQueen-ox8dk That would be the case if any one of those guards in the area were awake. They were still asleep and it's flashing red. Meaning Clockwerk knows Sly's watching him

he's a lot smaller than he appears in sly 1 and 2, kinda odd they added him without any kind of reference or secret for finding him. And they make him look like that, not very intimidating

Exactly. He looks like a joke in the fourth game and the fact that he’s not even present despite being the big threat to the Coopers just makes him a wasted villain

If these are supposed to be canon then I’d have to assume that Clockwerk with his tech advances had means of time travel before anyone else. In order to keep his unique backstory of surviving thousands of years I would say this: Clockwerk now robotic traveled back in time to study how the Coopers got away from him the first time so he would have an idea of how to deal with Sly in the first game.

We think the idea is that Clockwerk was around since the beginning as seen in game, but the robot model itself that we see in the game is non canon and was maybe made to not confuse fans and they didn't want to make a bunch of models for an easter egg and just used one model.

I don't really see the logic of Clockwerk in this game. It makes sense as to why he'd APPEAR since he was stalking the Coopers for ages, but he appears both smaller AND less...fearsome here. Hell, he looks like a PROP more than anything, or like one of his Robo-Falcons from Sly Raccoon. And then one of the treasures happens to be his eye? WHAT? I also agree with the thing about him being unable to make a metal body for himself back in the Stone Age, though I have my own (crazy) theory forming around that. I like this game, I really do, but wow there are a lot of problems with it, and this is one of them.

I think it's not only because of the art style change but also because Clockwork has been upgrading himself for centuries. So the past Clockworks are different versions than the Clockwork we know today.

Hold on a sec, wasn’t Clockwerk organic during Ancient Egypt, Arabia during the reign of the Abbasid Caliphate, 9th century Scotland Medieval England, Feudal Japan and The Golden Age of Piracy? I kinda makes sense for Clockwerk to become a robot during the Wild West Era, Victorian Era and World War 1 due to the advancements of steampunk technology, but that technology didn’t exist back in Ancient Egypt, Arabia during the reign of the Abbasid Caliphate, 9th century Scotland Medieval England, Feudal Japan and The Golden Age of Piracy. And for that matter, Clockwerk before becoming a robot, had brown feathers and red eyes, making him more monster than man, I wanted to see Clockwerk in his organic form in game. And those who think Clockwerk is Russian because he has a volcanic base in Russia, he’s either Egyptian or Australian. Some might think Clockwerk is Australian mainly because Episode 3 of Sly 4 takes place in Australia during the Ice Age, but the Adventures of Bob were never written into the Thievius Raccoonus. Others, like me, believe that Clockwerk is Egyptian seeing how there were shadowy owl like images in the pictures of Slytukamen in the Thievius Raccoonus.

Clockwerk’s design in this game looks like a small owl statue than a giant monster owl menace which is very disappointing as if the game isn’t disappointing enough with its storyline and character change to each of the characters of their previous characteristics in the previous games. Instead of a Easter egg, we could’ve seen more of Clockwerk in the fourth game being an actual threat to the Cooper ancestors and Sly rather than just a background character which confuses me a lot despite of the knowledge I received from him in the first game when clockwerk was first introduced during the final battle with sly. You may never know why Clockwerk hated the cooper ancestors or why he kept following them for hundreds of years but at the same time, he was still the main threat through the whole game but now seeing him as an Easter egg of the fourth game just feels like a slap in the face, especially to the sly cooper fans that knows better about the game than Sony

Late to the party but would love to have a sly game same time travel shenanagins (have to get sly back somehow) and have to fight multiple clockwerks in diffrent stages of his clockwerk transformation
