Blue Lions is the one that always keeps me coming back. I just love Dimitri to much dammit. I’ve not yet been able to marry anybody else on that route. Anybody else have that problem?

You fight a hegemon edelgard instead which means your complaints about fighting rhea right after you rescue her don’t even apply to blue lions since you never even see her. In fact actually there’s like only 3 monsters in the final mission of azure moon

Love the video Albino! I also did black eagles first and I felt cheated and almost gave up on the game. Then I played blue lions and it immediately brought me back in. The blue lions pre time skip is way more thematic and the missions with your house characters feel a lot more important. I wish the game had a recommendation for which house to play first because I definitely think blue lions are a perfect first house given how integral their characters are to the story.

I got extremely lucky I got the crimson flower run on my first playthrough. So I didn't go through the agony of losing edelgard and hubert. I will say I love crimson flower cause edelgard reminds me of lelouch.

Someone probably already said this, but 6:33 the final map of the blue lions route is the thrown room chapter with monster edelgard. The one that tries to snipe you across the map but rarely ever hits. I personally loved the chapter in my first run and still think its just fine if a little annoying when you just *can't* counter attack Edelgard. My only real complaint is the Those who Slither in the Dark mini boss (if you can call him that.) If only because it feels like his being there is rushed as to not have the player do the whole City without Light and Nemesis thing because that would make Golden Deer Pointless. Regardless I think its the best final chapter narratively and it has my favorite cinematic in the game.

So he mentions that he got sick of fighting Rhea when he did the blue lions route, but yet Azure moon’s final boss was Edelgard, not Rhea. Yes in fact, Rhea didn’t even show up after the time skip. Why?

black eagles was my first playthrough as well and as much as I like the house, I have to agree with you that it is not a recommended first playthrough. I actually had no idea the Edelgard route was supposed to be a sort of secret thing, I just spoke to literally everyone every single day then they hit me with the game changing decision and I went through with it. It leaves you feeling quite confused towards the end of the game if you hadnt played at least one of the other routes prior.

Also Ashe leaves your party in the Golden deer. Church was made before Golden deer route.

Every point was spot on for me except for leonie, she got annoying very quickly. Also think the golden deer is just more fun, altho blue lions feels more like the de facto story canonically

Shame to hear you dissing the Golden Deer, cause I love all of them. My least favorite Golden Deer is probably Leonie but I understand why youd dislike the others. Hilda is a vibe for me cause I can understand having a crippling fear of disappointment so you actively try and make yourself look worse so you never have expectations. I also think Golden Deer has the best ending for Fodland as a whole but hey thats just me

I agree with the ranking, as far as the routes go, but my black eagle babies!! The slander against my favorite collection of characters😫😫 Ferdinand, Dorothea, and Linhardt are all in my top 5

My ranking of the routes: 4) *Church of Seiros* (This is basically Golden Deer but worse in every single way, I would suggest you just skip it entirely) 3) *Black Eagles* (It's cool to play the story from such a different perspective, but it's dragged down by a somewhat underwhelming ending and a story that really doesn't do a good enough job of justifying Edelgard's actions) 2) *Golden Deer* (Definitely the route that feels the most complete and lore-heavy, and with the best maps to boot, though in exchange there is very little actual drama or character development happening here, and as a result the entire route can feel a little bland at times) 1) *Blue Lions* (Though this route does a poor job of actually exploring the lore of the game, it in return tells what is by far the most compelling story of them all, with the strongest cast to top it all off)

I’d argue a lot of these criticisms come from how many times you’ve played the game. Three houses is fundamentally designed to be played at most four times, and then you move on.

Yea...I am going, to be honest, the Golden Deer house is just...fine with a split with one half being...ok at best (Raphael, Lorenz, Ignatz and Leonie) and the other half is pretty solid (Marianne, Caldue, Lysithea and Hilda) Blue Lions: All of them are amazing...well besides Ashe as you just said he boring as shit. You can count Dedue as well but he good enough Black Eagles: Eh...I mean, Dorothea is easily the most interesting character and you do have to keep in mind that she was just an orphan, Ferdinand is...strange as I don't hate him but I don't love him either. Hubert is yea creepy, but some of his support is nice, Edelgard is easily the most interesting in terms of 'backstory' and how she impacts the plot. Casper is...kind of one-bote, If you really want a bad route...go Church Route, that route fucken sucks ass and easily has the worse Final Map hands down due to bullshit Miracle and some story moment just wanted me to go Wtf? To be fair, its not the only route that has WTF moments Black Eagles: Why is this so fucken short? Blue Lion: Seriously Claude why are you attacking us? Also, why is Byleth just standing there and letting Rodrigue die? Golden Deer: Hilda just telling us instead of a cutscene of Dimitri dying...also why is the Blue Lion focused on us?

I always go Golden Deer, then I recruit Linhardt and Felix, sometimes Yuri if I remember he exists. I will never not play Linhardt, but I don't like the rest of the Black Eagles tbh. My only complaint with him is that he can't become a Gremory because IS knew he'd be too broken. I also once made the mistake of recruiting Ashe, who is inferior to Ignatz in like every way and was literally just a resource sink. I don't dislike the rest of the Blue Lions, I just prefer the Golden Deer's personalities. Except Leonie, who doesn't have a personality (she's at least funny with Lorenz tho).

I wouldn't mind seeing a new Fire Emblem, but given that 3 houses isn't even 2 years old yet I think it's going to be a little while longer.

i have played this game to many times already have like over 700 hours golden deer is my favorite probably cus i started with it even tho i think blue loins is probably the best over all maybe the golden deer are my favorite just cus Claude is my favorite of the three lords or that i just like using mages and i get to use the best one lysithea from the start over all i can say is for a first playthrough of this game dont pick black eagles

I like Blue Lions the most. They really look like a family because most of them are childhood friends. I actually love Ashe, he is a sweetheart. Dimitri has one of the best character development in a Fire Emblem game, you can pick every Heroes Relics in this run and has probably the best ending for each lord (Dimitri king, Edelgard dead and Claude back to the Almyra). But I can agree, Golden Deer has the best final boss.

Blue Lions might have boring characters, but damn that story is great. Eldelgard's reveal and Dimitri's redemption are golden... Wait he likes the characters and doesn't like the story... Wtf? By the way the information is flawed, Blue Lions ends with Eldelgard's defeat, no Rhea. Also Golden Deer last battle is good, but wtf has Nemesis to do with Claude?

Blue Lions was my last run and I decided to try it on Maddening mode. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. I still have yet to finish azure moon because maddening makes this game the biggest slog imaginable and it's arguably the worst in a Blue Lions run mostly because of Reunion at Dawn. I'd like to hear Albino's take on playthroughs in Maddening mode (if he's done one, wouldnt be surprised if he hasn't) it was fun and challenging at first but then it ultimately stops being worth it. wouldnt wish a blue lions maddening mode run on my worst enemy. anyways, loved the video as always, Albino. made me almost forget how infuriating maddening made this game for me with your humor

There's a lot I disagree with you on but the one I'm going to bitch about is Constance being a bad unit. Her spell list is really good, the only ones better are Lysithea and Hapi. Bolting is excellent, and she has Fire and Sagittae for basic 1-2 attacking, and Fimbulvetr and Agnea's Arrow for nuking. She also has Rescue, which can be a really useful utility spell.

The Crimson Flower route (Empire) was the best one, because it was the most unique. Church, Blue Lions & Golden Deer have way too much overlap between their levels. There's also too many characters who just feel like filler for the Houses. Not everyone can have super relevance for each story path but too many of them fall into Ignatz territory. Personal Skills, Growth Rates, etc also feel really unbalanced. It makes sense that Ashe would have Lockpick, but that is a useless skill, when you can drop 2K on keys and bet set for the game.

seriously why is rhea the final boss of the church route, if your going to reuse a final boss she makes the least sense, nemesis gets a nice book end with the game beginning and ending with a battle between Seiros and Nemesis and sure the thing where she can be clamed down if you have high support is cool but you know who it would have worked better on? Edelgard, the lady you spent a year fighting side by side with and establishes even after the timeskip she would really rather not have to fight you, like ya either way its not going to be a happy ending but it could have her being in like prison instead of dieing, or dieing in your arms tragically as she talks about all her regrets, and then Rhea pulles a ten elite 2.0 and makes sure she goes down in history more heroically then she actually was

Ehh, Golden Deer may be better for the lore, but once you play through it once the Blue Lions take their place as the rightful best house, even if the end is a slight slog to get through.

My least favorite routes are the Church and the Blue Lions. Church is because I don't really care for Rhea, and Dimitri is a character I find interesting, but not really likable. As for my favorite it keeps going back and forth between Crimson Flower and Golden deer. Every house has characters I like and enjoy using though.

Constance is best girl surpassing the previous holder of the title, Annette. Also she is a fantastic unit when I use her on Maddening. Rescue is useful when Warp skip isn't an option plus silence and a mix of Saggitae and Fimbulvetr to deal heavy damage. Natural dark flier is a bonus too.

The church route is pretty much pointless when you think about it. It's really just a worse version of the Golden Deer route. It goes through all the same story beats but without the cool final fight against Nemesis. It is however the only route that I ever used any non-student characters. I pretty much had too since I didn't know I was about to lose Edelgard and I had no good frontline replacements so I was kinda forced into using Catherine. Thank god I happened to recruit Lysithea to replace Hubert.

7:15 oh, HELL naw, I don't agree with this statement. Narratively speaking, Blue Lions has the WORST outcome out of all routes: the slithers get to return to their fancy dubstep capital with Dimitri being none the wiser about their location or who they are exactly and they're free to threaten Fodlan at a later date UNLESS you pair him up with Hapi (a DLC! character), then they magically figure out everything they need to know and beat the slithers offscreen; and if this feels like a cop-out to you you're right because it is a cop-out. Golden Deers aren't doing much better outcome wise either because sure, you wreck the empire, Shambala, Thales, Nemesis and what not, but the slither's big busty bimbo in charge of Faerghus goes into hiding and both the remnants of the empire and the slithers join forces at a later date to kick your ass, a goddamn mercenary who really had to business running a country, much less a newly formed one, and you would have canonically lost had it not been for Claude's sudden with almyran reinforcements. Plus there's still a certain former dragon archbishop that can degenerate at any given moment. The Black Eagles route is probably the one with the best outcome: Cornelia is dead, Rhea is dead, Fodlan is unified, the slithers are 100% dealt with (too bad it happens offscreen) and you get your humanity back. Bonus, you're not even forced into a position you're SORELY unqualified for and you're free to do whatever you want with your life: want to go the Ike route and take over your father's mercenary group? Go ahead. Settle down in a remote village and life a quiet and peaceful? You deserve it after how long you've fought. Marry the empire's most sought after bachelorette, help her reorganise the newly formed country, then step down and find yourselves a nice cabin in the woods to live the rest of your lives there? Just bang already!
