You know I think I don't even really care where people rank things in ranking videos I just enjoy hearing the "why" of what made them place things above another.

Everyone knew going in that it was going to come down to Yorknew vs Chimera Ants. Everyone knew.

Yorknew City was my favorite arc too!!!!

In my opinion there are no 'crippling lows' in the chimera ant arc, there's a few slow and unnecessary episodes but I still enjoyed them. Good list still though

I honestly believe York New is one of the best arcs in all of Shonen. It was just so entertaining

Dark Continent Expedition Arc - Purely hype and setup for future arcs. The most exciting build up in the series. 6. Hunter Exam Arc - Fun tests that serve to introduce and understand our main characters. Ending with a great twist. Good first arc. 5. Heavens Arena Arc - Introducing and explaining the greatest power system in shonen. Solid fights through the arc and one of the best fights Hisoka vs Gon. 4. Greed Island Arc - Awesome concept for an arc, introducing best girl Biscuit, good final fights against the Bombers. One of the best part of the entire series the dodgeball game. 3. 13th Chairman Election Arc - Killua and Alluka against their family, Hisoka vs Gotoh, The Zodiacs introduccion, Leorio punching Ging, Gon and Ging finally meeting, Pariston trolling the entire election, and Gon and Killua goodbye. 2. Yorknew Arc - Introduction of the best villain group, Troupe massacring the mafia, Uvo vs Kurapika, Uvo requiem, Chrollo vs Zoldycks, unpredictable and unique way to end the arc. 1. Chimera Ant Arc - Darkest and most complex arc, most terrifying villains in the series, shocking deaths, greatest cast of new characters, amazing development/characterization, and the most epic and emotional climax in HxH. The slowest and weakest points in this arc didn't bother me that much it just enhance my attachment for the characters and the build up for the climax/invasion of this arc. Honorable mention: Succession War Arc (it isn't completed, so I'm not ranking it)

York New, for sure. It's the one arc I could watch repeatedly over a short period of time and not get bored from start to finish.

I love the hunter exam for being a tournament arc without a single traditional fight. I think that on its own already proved hunter x hunter is a special manga/anime.

The way Togashi handled the Pakunoda situation is a display of the HxH’s mightyness

The Yorknew arc is so damn good, my favorite by far too. I liked the chimera ant arc but the stupid amounts of narration and drawn out content puts it lower for me

What also made the York new city arc so great is when the ending would play during the last minute of the ep. y’all remember when that clip were hisoka gave that weird look and their goes that epic ending. Honestly gives me chills

I really like the Greed Island arc also . Really unique and fun to watch Gon and Killua enjoying and training some happy moments along with Bisky also as after this arc the series turned really dark.

7. Zoldyk Family arc - Honestly kind of dragged for me. I liked the butler and it was a decent introduction to the Zoldyks but I found myself wanting it over pretty quickly. 6. Hunter Exam - Not at all bad just mostly stereotypical shounen. Still a lot of fun yet it merely exists to set up the world and characters. 5. Chairman arc - I really like Alluka and found that she really improved Killua's character a lot for me. The politics of the Hunter organisation was also interesting to witness. 4. Heavens Arena - Good fun tournament style arc and a great way to introduce Nen. 3. Greed Island - Mostly ranks this high because of how brilliant the whole Razor segment was. The idea of the arc being an isekai within a shounen series was also fascinating. 2. Yorknew City - Brilliant in just about everything it does. The Phantom Troupe are a great set of characters and the Kurapika arc is intense. 1. Chimera Ants - My all time favourite arc in all of anime. Fantastic villains, brilliant themes, mind blowing fights and a real sense of dread and threat throughout. Chimera Ants is perfect for me.

I agree. Chimera ants had higher highs but Yorknew was more consistent throughout and had better pacing.

I think the Greed Island Arc was one of the highest points in the series. It fulfills on so many promises/questions the story creates prior. We get to see Gon and Killua organically develop their nen and battle IQ and additionally the nen system. We get a deeper look into the established Hunter Hunter world, because GI is revealed to not be virtual, but exists. The arc developeds the main story question of "Will Gon find his Father" by introducing us to people who are related to and were partnered with Ging (and the Chimera Ant arc advanced this question by introducing us to Kite--Gings disciple). And the arc shows us how professional hunters work and operate; providing a tactical battle of the Bombers vs the hunter group working for Baterra(the rich dude who bought up all the greed island games). On first watch, I thought Greed Island felt like a strange alternate reality filler, but on my second watch of the series I noticed more of it's strengths that I think place it near Chimera Ant in quality.

HOW is election of the chairman lower than Killua rescue

For me, the Chimera Ant Arc (in the manga, specifically) is not only the best HXH arc but one of the best shonen arcs ever. It's still great in the anime but I think it's better in the manga, personally, and I think its damn close to perfect.

Hunter Exam: 7/10 It was a pretty good arc for building up the series even though people complain the hunter Exam kinda dragged 26 episodes, it was a fun little arc for a nice introduction into hunter X hunter though. Zoldyck Family 7.2/10 Short arc, not really a arc but exploring a little bit of the zoldyck family was nice. Heavens Arena 8.5/10 The arc that got me into hunter X hunter, when we first found out about Nen and all the different types. Plus all the fights were solid, the only fight that kinda bored me was Gons first fight with spinning top guy dude cripple. The fight with Hisoka was what we expected but still delivered. Plus we met Best young boy Zushi Yorknew 10/10 My favorite arc in all of anime and HxH, We got to see a lot of kurapika and his moments to shine which made this arc amazing, BUT the Requiem that Chrollo did WAS AMAZING. Plus finding about Kurapikas Specialist abilities was epic. Greed Island 8/10 Good arc, that's it. Hisoka carried it lmao Chimera Ant Arc 9.999999/10 Godspeed- Amazing Adult gon- amazing Gon Vs. Neferpitou- Amazing Kites deaths- Sad Komugi- Blind Meruem- Well written Pouf-Dramatic Hotel-Trivago Also this arc was fucking terrifying Election Arc 8/10 Leorio punched Ging Nuff said Overall: 6.Hunter Exam 5. I used to be one of the people that thought there’s no way Yorknew City is as good as Chinara Ant but now I kinda see. When you compare the 2 in terms of pacing & consistent interest there’s an argument for both to be the best arc in the series

I agree wholeheartedly. But, I do believe you missed a chance to speak about one of the GrEatest features of Yorknew and thats the music 😍. The scores he had written for this arc are stupendous and have spawned many covers. It is THE music you hear in your head when you think of HxH

Once i finished York New City Arc, it became my favourite anime. Can't say the same for the Chimera ant Arc though. It was drawn out and the Narrater explaining every single detail was frustrating to say the least.

My list is almost exactly the same with the only exception being my #1 and #2 are swapped. I didn't get tired during the Chimera ant arc because HxH is the first anime I watched all the way through. I, of course grew up with Dragonball and Pokemon and such but I was tol young to have depth in my understanding of storytelling back then. Peace.

Yorknew is my fave cause of kurapika I haven't read the manga yet but heard there is more of him there Do u guys suggest it? I'm afraid I'll get too attached and then have to go through the long hiatuses

I remember sitting on the floor at Borders (defunct bookstore) and reading the introduction of the Shadow Beasts coming to wipe out the Phantom Troupe. Thinking the Shadow Beasts would be so badass, just to be absolutely destroyed in the first display of the power of the Phantom Troupe. That fight will always be my favorite. Gave young me so many chills while sitting in the Borders floor.

Something interesting is that I never ever got bored of the CA arc. I am not good a binging shows, I take a lot of pauses and it can take effort to get through things for me. But I was glued to the screen. Perhaps it was because it was my first time watching it in many years. I was extremely young at the time of first experiencing it (9) and did not remember much. But because of that I knew what was yet to come. Its to the point where I feel like YN can't even be compared to the highlights of CA, but you do you. I just hope I'll be able to find another something that gives me the same emotional response (and I mean every emotion) that the palace invasion gave me.

I feel The Succession War Arc gonna be the best, but as we know it’s still keep going... of course after the hiatuses. The big highlights in the arc right now is Kurapika with the royal family and Hisoka VS Chrollo.

That auction information might be not necessary for the overall arc, but it's still nice to see some real life knowledge like that, I quite enjoy that as I'm growing up, also there is a foreshadowing of Gon's character from Zepile in that episode..

It's always interesting to see people ranking the Yorknew arc higher than the Chimera Ant one. While I personally disagree with that I can still see why Yorknew would top some people's list. Personally Yorknew is my second favorite after CA of course but I think it's cool to see that these two always make first and second place on most people's lists.

Pretty great list. Not sure I would have put chimera ants so high. I just found myself wondering when it would be over when watching it. Just a tiny bit too long I thought. I honestly don't know why I thought that though. One piece has longer arcs and I never found myself wondering when they would be over.

YorkNewCity is my favorite with Chimera Ark at the #2 spot as well. YorkNew was flawless to me and the Chimera was so well written and had a ton of awesome fights. I felt like we really got to see Gon and Killua become truly top tier fighters during this arc. I actually liked the smaller ant fights like when Killua fought several ants solo and had the octopus ant save him or when Killuas dad one shotted Cheetu were just awesome to watch. Only downside was the palace invasion felt like it took forever and was a bit too drawn out and i didnt ever feel like that for York New

Greed Island was my favorite. I still want to know more about its location and magical beasts !

Took a 2 year break before last third of chimera ant arc. The anime over did the exposition and would tell you exactly what is obviously happening as you watch it happen
