I've been telling people to avoid all-in-one record players (Crosley suitcases, Victrola, etc.) for as long as this channel has existed, and while that statement is MOSTLY true, there's a piece of technology that I was introduced to that is changing the game.
The PLUS Record Player is the perfect solution for people who want an easy gateway to hi-fi audio, don't have a lot of space, or want a high quality back-up table to their main setup. The price point is the biggest barrier to entry, but you definitely get what you pay for. Hear all my thoughts in the video.

That's a cool concept, price wise though I'm not sure, I don't really know who it will actually target, to be paying that sort of money you would really have to care about music and then you would most likely be seperating. Though wish them the best of luck as it does seem well made!

Cool video! Guitar player and singer here, when you switch a record or CD player with a physical copy different frequencies to get omitted or enhanced based on internal components on connections. This happens even on CDs and digital, hence all the price points in hifi gear. Its why your Telecaster sounds different in a Vox, Fender, or Marshall amp even if they have the same wattage or sized speaker. Its the internal play between all the parts. So a different cartridge would have a kind of change on the same system. Typically its pretty subtle, like a less than 10% difference. Typically its not a huge difference but mainly a preference based decision. Unless you are too cool for school. Then its all the marketing you consumed!😄

If only RCA had created a HD Audio only system that used the same disc but no video then maybe it might have taken off big time and you could have had two LP's worth of HD Audio on both sides of one HD Audio disc and the disc never comes out of the case except when it in the HD Audio player.

I don't know. Not for me really. I mean, like other person already mentioned, I am convinced that having entirely separate gear is the way to go, especially since I am more interested in upgrades for X or Y or Z part of my system, to notice any difference in sound. Besides, for almost $2k I believe you could get a very decent setup and still getting separate items. Speakers position is a big deal to me. Like you mentioned, this system really fills the room, but if I would have this one in my place, I know not having separate speakers would bother me all the time lol. If space would be a limitation, I would still try to fit a good pair of small speakers. Not saying this product is bad at all, I know it could be the perfect system for some people. As long as everybody enjoys their records and music, I guess everything is valid.
@TooManyRecords
@TooManyRecords 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean, no one (including myself) is arguing that a $1500 traditional set up wouldn't sound better. This just fits some specific needs that a lot of vinyl fans have, limitations, etc. I think there's definitely a time and place for this player.

For 1500 bucks you really need to go the right route. 1500 for this is ridiculous. Kind of surprised you are recommending this at that price point. I have a fluance 85, two Polk floor speakers, a 12 inch Polk sub, and a Sony receiver for like 1200 bucks.

All in ones are definitely improving but as nice as this player is, I can't get my head round paying that much money for "convenience". Nobody listens to vinyl for convenience - we have spotify for that. Great video though, keep up the good work.
@GothJedi
@GothJedi 2 жыл бұрын
Oh people pay a lot more than that for convenience. Wealthy people know all about that. I got it because my room is a shoebox so to get a bigger system was impractical. However I still wanted to enjoy my top 10 artists on classic vinyl. Granted, I could’ve bought a crosley but I feel like that would be doing the music an injustice
@wayneyb1978
@wayneyb1978 2 жыл бұрын
@@GothJedi I know people will pay more than that for convenience. My speaker cables are worth more than that TT. My point is that if you want to ship a large amount of money on a convenient way of listening to music, there are digital systems that will knock spots off that player. Vinyl is inconvenient by it's nature. But if you have one and enjoy it then fair play - definitely an improvement on a crossley 😀

$1500 for an entry level model that is not a cheap vinyl destroying toy*. *=vinyl destroying maybe while it does not destroy in the way you may think cheap vinyl destroyers does wear out the records faster and track heavy and does not have the best needle but maybe ok for yard sale records for beginners. your channel intro contains a sound that sounds like the super mario bros 3 flying mario sound. i guess you played smb3 once and was inspired by the bird tweeting like sound of flying mario.

I don't think this is a good machine. Maybe the quality of materials are good but the design is not Speakers cause vibrations and parasite noise that's affect the sound quality or produce low frequency resonance (Something that can destroy a speaker) One golden rule in vinyl audio is instal the turntable far away from the speakers to avoid vibrations and resonance. Turntables are designed to spin the record in the most quiet way as possible. That is the main purpose. Turntable and tonearms designers invest a lot of time, research and sources trying to create the most quiet model as possible When you install speakers in the base of the system... all that is ruined. For 1500 USD you can buy a Rega Planar 1, plus a very descent amplifier like a Yamaha As-501 and a pair of bookshelve speakers like Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 . Small, great sound, easy to upgrade.

I wonder if you would have bought this table yourself to review, since it costs $1547.00??? I think that this is a premium all in one but it should be for the price. And at that price you shouldn’t have to pay extra for an Ortofon 2m Red or even the Blue. It’s one thing to review products that your audience can afford. But I can’t help but feel that there’s a better use of time than reviewing a product like this that many people can’t afford, and never will.
@TooManyRecords

John, I totally hear what you're saying and to an extent, you're not wrong. I review a wide range of products on this channel. I have a video about the best turntable under $100. I have a gift guide from last week with turntables of all ranges. I have a video about the $500 RT-85. I try to cover the whole spectrum. I don't think it's fair to assume that no one can afford this who watches my channel. It is for a niche audience, but for that audience I think it performs excellently and can absolutely fit into their setup.
@GothJedi

I guess people don’t save their money for things anymore. Because that’s how I was able to get it. There seems to be a growing number of people that don’t care how something works just as long as it works and that’s foolish because if you only knew how tricky it was to pull this off, the price is justified. Engineering wise, this should not work but they made the seemingly impossible possible so the price is justified

1500 for this no way why does have to be 100 watts why not 50 watts how many times are you going to raise it that high ??????? I have a 25 tube amplifier which cost way less than that and I have yet to raise it up to half power ,now this did sound very full and better than the average all in one but for that money why not include seperate bass and treble ,I have the pro-ject debut 3 TT the TT on that one was good but come on thts to much money for a small unit with limited bass I found something similar to this unit granted it does not have all the bells and whistles like a great TT ,amp and maybe great speakers but I found mine new for 88.00 on ebay new now it goes for 200.00 give or take it has a lot of plastic and not a great TT but it comes with the audiotechnica cart and it had same amount of bassfor its price at 35 watts its not bad it will not replace my current turntables and 3 amps but I use it to test records I buy when they are used instead of me turning on my main system and waiting it to properly warm up I try this on and test my records it sounded just like this one but much cheaper it is made by a comp called 1 by one its not high end but the sound was just as full as this unit so unless they can reduce the wattage and give me seperate treble and bass controls and bring down the price there's no way I could even think of this JRo
