Such an incredible drill! It lets us practice both of our hands, with all stab, hook and slash movements, but also reminds us of how FMA knife techniques work (every single move is supposed to be an attack or a trap). Thank you so much for sharing this. Salute!

Dear Sir, Kali Center, With all respect to your admirable skill, from methodological point of view, let me have have three reservations: - the reverse grip is primarily a defensive one, enabling parrying direct knife attacks and protecting our forarm. - accordingly the block with the help of knife in reverse grip should have been presented by you. - the attacking movements, with a reverse grip are less more effective if done by beginners not taught how to to defend themselves . First things first! Best regards Paul,68,retired instructor of Karate.

On some of the movements the back of the blade is leading, would that be an offensive slash or more of a clearing of the opponent‘S obstruction? Obviously if it is more thrust it probably doesn’t matter as it’s the tip that’s the focus vs a slashing blade?

Can a student learn the curriculum from your online school then go on to teach it?
@kalicenter
@kalicenter 11 ай бұрын
I couldn’t stop anyone from doing that so I guess so. When I started my online school back in 2015 a number of “instructors” who downed me for making my online school did exactly that. Best thing to do it properly and make sure you’re able to teach it correctly is to train, attend my training camp and join the Leadership Program. There’s A LOT I don’t put online. 😉

LOL this video makes me feel stupid.. Loved the info.. was weird never watched any videos related and this popped into my feed so I watched it. Dude some great stuff here. I'm very confident in my skills with a knife on the streets and have made it through my youth with only one incident and a small scar to prove that knives do stick into bone.. I gave that life up a long time ago.. but this now has me interested.. It also seems like some great knowledge and the practicing you stress, which I agree with totally, seems like something I could use and do for health reasons. Get me moving more and a bit of cardio.. I am no longer a young man and seems I have 2 options now well three I guess technically.. I have lots of training and carry daily a firearm. I always carry a knife into places a firearm is not allowed. As I am no longer able to run away or fight for any length of time against a youth.. Now perhaps would be better to actually learn proper knife fighting techniques and how to use them. Would honestly love to stop an attacker with a few well placed cuts and give them the chance to walk away than them to take the bullet.. As when I pull the firearm.. It is used and used effectively with the double tap. At that point, I would be using it as a last resort.. not as a first... I have found you can normally deescalate a situation but sometimes the other it to bone headed and full of youth and bravado.. It never helps if their friends are about egging them on. But it seems to me pulling out a knife and just demonstrating a few practice moves might be very and or more intimidating than brandishing a gun. I also have noticed when law enforcement arrives, the victim that used a firearm is more likely to be shot by the law enforcement on "accident" than someone with a knife in hand. Can not reach out 15 ft to knife an officer but you sure could shoot them at 15 ft.. Be nice to learn proper techniques. As I am new here and just subbed and liked and commented to help the channel. Do you have any beginner videos to help someone break old habits which probably are not very good to begin with LOL I sometimes feel I was more lucky than actually skilled when younger. Some of this looks like that Philippine stick/knife fighting style, I have seen that once when one of our friends decades ago showed us. They ended up moving back before I could actually get a chance to learn anything of it ...was very interesting. It may be that this seems all very attack attack oriented like the aforementioned Pilipino martial arts. I appreciate the video and will check out the rest of your videos when I can. As one should be doing work and not watching you tube videos when at work. But honestly I am allowed to design my work weeks and take breaks whenever. Be well and much love and respect from a new (oldman) viewer.

Well, this is one way to go... Unless it's an unarmed opponent, probably not the best advice. Practice your strikes, but these are horrible for fighting. People draw weapons for three reasons, in order. 1, fear, 2 challenge, 3 murder. You're best offense, is your defense, attack the weapon, which is the hands and arms.
@kalicenter
@kalicenter Жыл бұрын
I didn’t give any self defense advice in this video. I have no context whether to use these techniques offensively or defensively. I only shared the movements for those who have interest in martial arts. As for your 3 reasons… these are the only reasons why people fight period. Fear of something, challenging something or to cause harm to another, whether with or without a weapon. Not sure how this comment is supposed to challenge the content of this video?
@ELXABER
@ELXABER Жыл бұрын
@@kalicenter I left it because I have 20 years of combined martial arts experience, including Korean and Japanese traditional weapons. People fight for all kinds of reasons, weapons are always and only those 3.

@@ELXABER You should put a fourth there, survive, you are not afraid, but it is not pride either, nor because you have the intention, voluntary or not, survival is innate, it is not fear or murderous intention, whether for better or worse, but rather to keep yourself alive.
