DJI Mini 4 Pro has amazing tracking capabilities and in this video I will explain how to use all tracking modes in the DJI Mini 4 Pro.
I will go through exactly how to use the active shots (active track) modes and when you should use each different tracking mode.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro has the following tracking modes:
Spotlight tracking mode.
POI - Point of interest tracking mode.
ActiveShots tracking modes: ActiveShots Manual, ActiveShots Parallel and the new Active Shots Auto Tracking Mode.
ActiveShots is also known as Active Track and Follow Me mode. Spotlight is also known as Tripode Mode.

well done! Because you mention Active Shots as the actual label for the Active tracking (previous label) the explanation became perfectly clear. Tracking features become: Spotlight POI - Point of Interest Active Shots : Paralel Manual AUTO No other video, as far as I know, mentions the changes of the label s names neither refer the change in the operation graphics. Thanks! May I ask if you know how to reverse the thumb sticks (climb / descend ) functions on Mode 2. The forward move of the stick should translate in a descent movement of the aircraft and pulling it back should initiate a climb, as it does with conventional airplanes. I am a retired Air Line Pilot and it is hard to lose old habits. Thank you.

Hi, nice video, does Obstacle Avoidance work in these ALL tracking modes?? For example, if you are doing a POI and you are doing a 360º and on the way there is an obstacle (tree), does it stop? Or in a mastershot (circle) he encounters an obstacle, what does he do? he stop? Thanks

Thanks for your very informative video: on the Mini 4, I find that if I select a person or an object and use Spotlight or POI, then if I try to fly over that object, it stops and won't go further - despite being high. UNLIKE the Mavic 2P and Inspire - I cannot do a fly past above the person and keep the camera focussed on that person.

“Camera Motion” control…. So select Normal to reduce camera swinging? Or Fast for the gimbal to be more responsive? I would like the camera/gimbal to be more buffered so one doesn’t produce swinging motions when the controller itself is moving/swinging on the person.

Thank you for this informative video. For some reason, I got the latest update just a couple of days ago and I was surprised when I the same day should use Active Track to follow me on my bike. I hadn't seen the Auto Mode before, but selected it. That was a mistake. The actions the drone was made to do was all over the chart (and I don't know what all of them means). I got Hold, Helix, and Proxie and the drone soon lost sight of me. Honestly, can't see what the Active Track Auto function may be good for. Hopefully I will find more information on this, but your video was a great start.

@@MK-Creator Yes, that is my impression as well. I found someone else who also uploaded something about Auto, but did not mention Proxie, but only that the Auto Function will automatically cycle through the options available (perhaps usable in a very open landscape following a person, but other than that, I will probably not use this function again). The positive thing about the upgrade is that you don’t have to press Go before you select Trace 🙂.

My mini 4 pro crashed into tree branches when I was using active shots … it was tracking me from the side and I choose on the wheel to make it track from forward and it just didn’t see the tree branches. Gimbal is broken. I’m sending it now for repair. Not sure why the obstacle avoidance didn’t work.

Question! For the Manual Active Shot, if you set it to be in front for example does it track your back if you begin walking backwards? In other words, does it recognize our moving direction or which way our bodies are facing?

Yes. If you watch the full video I think I demonstrate just that. The drone will try to determine in what direction the subject is moving and adjust its position depending on that.

Hello. If you try to explain the moves of the drones but you move two steps in one direction then quick other three steps in other direction and keep changing direction after two steps and the drone don’t have time to show the soft patern you pretty much induce confuss

I would be buying my first drone that is dji mini 4 pro. What would be best settings for drone to follow me on motorbike in hilly region. Conditions.. Lots of tree would be there since it's forest area and I don't want it to be low so that opposite vehicles or vehicles behind the drone hit the drone might be 20 feet height.

Active Shot and track from behind would be the less risky mode. But be aware of trees… I have a great video you should watch about when the mini 4 pro tracked me in a forest. @@MK-Creator great video. For sure I won't take it inside forest. 20 feet wide ride might be max I would try. Seen other video where they said it was loosing track when speed was around 20 km. Is that True?

@roninr8199 the max flight speed in both POI and Active Shots is 12m/s = 43 km / h in optimal circumstance. I have a year old video where I tracked a boat successfully in those speeds. When tracking a boat why does the keep increasing in hight and not staying in position. It tracks but keep going up

I find that the “increasing in height” problem exists in many activetrack shots. Eventually the tracked subject is lost. I wish DJI would tweak this problem.

I cant get any of this to work 1. in the settings i go to control and I cant find subject scanning 2. I cant find any sort of tracking mode 3. I can't even get the point of intrest to work either, can someone help me?

Sorry to complain since you put a lot of work into the video and it is well done. But, I would like to see some example cinematic shots and then show how they were set up using the controller and drone.

Well. That is not to complain. That is more like a suggestion for another video. The purpose of this video was to purely show how the different modes actually work and when you should use one or the other 🥳👍

I think it was a really good tutorial, if you want to watch some cinematic ideas there are other videos, for the purpose of learning this is the best I’ve seen

I specifically searched tracking modes. I don’t want to see cinematic stuff here. Maybe specify your search for cinematic stuff. Great tutorial by the way🫶🏼

For that you have to buy a cheap drone.

Inner circle out circle............nobody has time for all that. Try use a touchscreen on a bicycle. I rather have a nice small controller and fly it manually.
