I’m going through the same thing right now. My spaniel was diagnosed with bowel cancer last summer and they gave him 2 weeks to live. He is still going strong, but this month is so stressful, as he couldn’t poop, so my dad took him to the vet and they took out some of the tumor that was blocked the poop, but it was still horrible for everyone. He is still really enjoying life and his walks though, so as long as he wants to go for a walk, we will do everything for him. I hope that Matilda will live her last months with people like you that she loves

My axolotls had a substrate of large flat black pebbles. That looked cool. Also I found several realistic fake plants for them, and a large fish rock cave that they liked to both hide out in. They also had half of a broken clay plant pot as a hide and an air stone to give bubbles. Finally, I had a floating live plant that looked like giant duck weed... this did well and covered the water surface so I was able to leave the light on all the time for the live plant and it was still shady under it for the axolotls. I miss my axolotls, but I had to re home them when I emigrated. I live in a country that is far to hot to keep them now, so I got a ball python instead.

Do you feed pellets? I feed my green cheek Harrison’s pellets, he really likes them! Ofc you should also feed veggies and all that stuff Sorry if I don’t respond I probably won’t be able to find this comment again

I suggest doing some research or ask your vet instead of asking a youtuber, maybe check some vet studies on the nutritional requirements for cockatiels and then build from there. Anyway hope this helps (in some way) and your birds are happy :)

parrot diet is a very complicated subject, because there is little research done into the full nutritional needs of parrots, the best thing you can do for them is offer as much variety and diversity in their diet as possible! I encourage you to do lots of your own research to decide what is best for your birds. I choose not to feed pellets as the main part of my parrots diet and instead feed a whole food diet consisting of vegetables, and a huge range of seeds, legumes, grains and nuts in soaked or sprouted form. For example, today I fed mine - SPROUTED - - brocilli sprouts - VEGETABLES - - ginger - coriander - carrot - cabbage - bok choi - green bell pepper - green beans - DRY - - star anise - shredded coconut - flax seed/linseed - oats - chia seeds - caraway seeds - basil seeds - poppy seeds - cinnamon - SOAKED - - hulled millet - barley - rye berries - spelt - kamut - buckwheat - pumpkin seeds - hemp seed - brown rice - safflower seed - almond/walnut pieces - split red lentils - green lentils - peas - mung beans - chickpeas/garbanzo beans - yellow split peas - quinoa However, I understand that not every owner has the time or lifestyle to soak and rinse things every night. The only pellet brand i would recommend is TOPs parrot pellets, as they are the only brand i am aware of that are cold-pressed and have a variety of healthy, organic ingredients. These should only make up less than 50% of their full diet though, I recommend trying the TOPs all in one seed mix for sprouting, especially as cockatiels require a higher seed content in their diet compared to other birds, you could also try sprouting lentils, peas, mung beans, alfalfa or other seeds. Make sure to also provide lots of fresh vegetables. a diet of 30% TOPs pellets, 30% vegetables, 30% soaked/sprouted seeds, grains, legumes, (a few types of) beans and 10% treat food like fruit, nuts, more fatty seeds (sunflower, millet, safflower etc) reserved for training and foraging :) always do a quick google before feeding you cockatiels something new to check it is safe sorry for writing so much, i got carried away but i hope this helps! :D
